Student’s Last Name2 Question One Sydney Local Health District is the local health hospital selected for this paper. The significant values of the LHD are openness, respect, collaboration, and empowerment. The strategic goals are that all the staff work hard to achieve excellence in the health facility as well as ensure that all patients, visitors, carers, and families receive standard care (Sobolev, Guy, Sheehan, Bohm, Beaupre, Morin, Sutherland, Dunbar, Griesdale, Jaglal and Kuramoto, 2017 p.16). Also, the vision statement of the LHD indicates “working together to improve the health and wellbeing of our community”. The mission of the health facility is to meet the diverse patients’ needs as well as develop the needs for the individuals in the society. Question Two In LHD, there are various research priorities especially that involve nurses, other professionals, and managers. To start with, the research undertaken by nurses and managers include advocating to allow and ensure patients receive appropriate healthcare services. Nurses have opportunities to recognize the new research advancements that facilitate evidence-based care (Watling, 2015 p.5). There are nursing networks and groups such as a Nordic network that promote innovation and clinical research for the nurses. Generally, a nursing network inspires the caregivers and keeps them active in conducting research. On the other hand, the managers conduct a research that guides them to understand the areas of improvement based on their current performance. Question Three
Student’s Last Name3 In evaluating the demographics of the LHD, it is clear it covers individuals at the median age of about 40 years, children range from 0-14 years making 19.1%, while the elder people about 65 years make 16.9% of the population (Sydney - Local health districts. (n.d.). The cultural make-up covers 51.2% of the indigenous population, while 48.8% were males. In regards to the geographical make-up, 30.5% accessed primary school facilities, 21.5% tertiary, and 23.7% high school education. Based on the socio-economic make-up 116, 890 persons were employed where 61.4% was at full-time employment, 30.6 unemployed, and 3.5 not employed (Anderson, 2012 p.10). Finally, the map of the area shows that 63.8% lived in separate houses while 13.6% were detached partially. Question Four I would like to apply for a position at the LHD as a nurse. I am interested as well as focused to work in such a health facility where there is an inclusive research community for the nurses. Also, the LHD offers a thorough training to new graduates hence they can receive additional skills. For instance, it familiarizes new graduates with the community hence they can easily recognize the patient’s needs. Moreover, the managers are constantly working with the nurses to facilitate effectiveness and meet the needs of the society.
