Introduction
The increasing demands of the customers compel the enterprises to invest in the purchase of
greater infrastructure. In spite of huge expenses, traditional forms of computing and data centers
do not offer scalability and mobility. Maintenance and update expenses also have to be incurred
by the enterprises. Therefore, it can be stated that the traditional form of computing and data
centers do not offer a good level of scalability and prove to cost hefty amounts for the
organization. The traditional data centers are able to meet the typical business conditions but
cease to perform well in atypical ones (Alharbi, Atkins, & Stanier, 2017). The conventional data
centers do not offer any kind of mobility since they are physically present in the premises of the
organization. Regular updates have to be installed on the system to continue effective services to
the clients. It is due to these limitations and constraints that an innovative concept has been
devised- cloud computing. An innovative technology has been offered in the market that
provides almost unlimited scalability and mobility- cloud computing. Cloud computing offers the
dynamic acquisition of computing power units that facilitate the provision of an effective and
uninterrupted service to the clients. This paper discusses the factors affecting the adoption of
cloud computing technology (Antonopoulos & Gillam, 2017).
Literature Review
The function of cloud computing is to revolutionize the way technology, services, and
configurable resources are delivered by the information systems so that the management efforts
or the interactions of the service provider are minimal. The popularity of cloud computing can be
estimated from the fact that more than 80 per cent of the large organizations have at least one of
the cloud services while most do have all the six applications (Carlson, 2016). IT gurus
administer the fused cloud platforms by means of the advanced knowledge of the virtual servers

and the virtualization skills. Infrastructure and applications that promote cloud computing
acceptance, attraction of IT Professionals towards cloud computing, and cloud adoption and
rejection factors are fundamental.
Cloud computing is of immense significance and value to the IT implementers because of the
benefits its offers that include but are not limited to work efficiencies, support, enhanced
productivity, and low-cost initiatives (Garg & Stiller, 2015).
IT executives invest in the cloud initiatives for a variety of reasons including saving money,
increased predictability of costs, improved IT customer service, increased productivity, and
standardized IT. As you can see in the diagram, the prime motivation behind investing in the
cloud initiatives is minimization of cost and saving of money. Increased predictability of costs
and improved IT customer service are equally strong motivators following the saving of money.
IT staff supports the cloud initiatives in order to be more efficient, to work with the latest
technology, to improve the IT customer service, to maintain a current set of skills, and to
minimize the complexity of the job (Murugesan & Bojanova, 2016). There is variation among
the decision maker and implementer IT staff’s motivations behind supporting the cloud
initiatives as evident from the graph. Except for the motivation of keeping the set of skills
current, there is a greater number of the decision maker IT staff that is motivated by all of the
aforementioned factors as compared to the implementer IT staff.
Organizations that use cloud service can be categorized into three types based on their size; the
mega enterprises, the large enterprises, and the medium enterprises (Rahimli, 2013). Cloud
services used by them are of different kinds including collaboration, software services, desktops
and infrastructure, and disaster recovery backup. Here, you can notice that while many
enterprises are already using these kinds of services, there is a substantial number of

organizations that are considering to use these services, which indicates that cloud computing is
growing in popularity (Sill, 2014).
One factor that is interrupting the benefits of cloud computing is the high cost purchases for the
measures of security, sever support, and the other software providing optimum performing
network connectivity (Alharbi, Atkins, & Stanier, 2017). In addition to that, common fears faced
by the business organizations using the cloud computing services include the possible losses,
distortion, theft and redistribution of their clients’ and operational secretes that are stored on the
virtual infrastructure. Threats of its complications and complexity in use, with regards to some of
its users, hinders its progression and full acceptability. It is expected that in case of any
complications, the service providers are contacted; this is a further complication users are not
given full control (Antonopoulos & Gillam, 2017). For the making of this presentation, research
survey and analysis used was both qualitative and quantitative to ensure a comprehensive data
presented data presentation of Cloud Computing Applicability.
Along with the wide acceptance and growth of cloud computing, there exist few inhibitions
regarding the respective technology. One of the major concerns is the security of the data and
intellectual assets that are transferred to the data centers of the cloud computing service
providers. (Kshetri, Fredriksson, & Rojas, 2017) stated that the IT executives tend to fear the
effectiveness of the security measures that are deployed by the service providers since any
security breaches may cause disclosure of the data to malicious users. Traditional form of
computing and data centers provided greater level of control on the data in this respect, whereas
cloud computing offer partial control over the data.
Clients should understand that the domain of cloud computing is still in its early stages; therefore
not many standards have been formulated with respect to the security levels that should be

followed by service providers. There exists a risk of multi-tenancy in cloud computing services;
(Kim, Lee, & Park, 2012) defined multi-tenancy as the presence of multiple clients’ data on the
same server. In such cases, if the network is not managed effectively then third parties get access
to unauthorized data of other clients.
The location of the data of the client is not known. The data might even be placed in a country
other than the one where the business relationship developed. There exist few differences of laws
of data privacy and protection within countries, for example, UK and US. This can become a
cause of distress for the client since the data might not be protected according to his expectations
(Khosrow-Pour, 2018).
Methodology
This study will require a survey of the available information or literature by the use of a
methodical and principled approach; all the major databases of research for computer science
will be searched, and these include the “ACM Digital Library, the Google Scholar, the IEEE
Xplore, the ScienceDirect together with the SpringerLink”, for the keywords such as cloud
computing, Service Infrastructure, elastic computing, Service Software, utility computing,
Service Platforms, the IaaS, Service Everything, the XaaS as well as the PaaS. Nevertheless, the
range of information of data for this search will be limited from the year 2012 to 2018. In
addition, it is the best range because it is fairly long after the launching of all public clouds in the
year 2005, thus there is adequate or sufficient data required for the survey to be accurate.
Data collection instrument
We are living in the digital age, where time and money is a scarce community. To save both time
and money, the research will employ the use of an online survey. A survey will be created using

SurveyMonkey and a web link generated. The link will be sent to all the target respondents via
email or even SMS. Collected responses will then be analyzed using relevant charts and graphs.

Conclusion
In conclusion, Cloud computing has surfaced as one of the best ways for the enterprises
to enhance and revamp their infrastructures of IT. While the specific dates related to the history
of cloud computing are not exactly known, yet its symbol has been frequently used to represent
the Internet since the late 20th century. Implications of cloud computing in the world of
technology include but are not limited to mobile communication, consumer services, and shared
computing (Hlebela, 2016). Some of the companies that use and provide the services of cloud
computing include Apple, Google, and Cisco. The cost of data center hardware of cloud
computing varies considerably depending on what sort of workload a company supports. The
services of cloud computing are basically categorized into storage, servers, and sites and there is
a distinct formula to price each of these areas. Needless to say, adapting to such a new
technology that provides an excellent and unrestrained system of data sharing is very
advantageous both for the companies that use cloud computing right from the beginning as well
as for the companies that change their systems to cloud computing, yet using cloud computing
from the very beginning is easier and more cost effective as compared to transforming an
existing system to it (In Munir, 2017). Cloud computing has numerous similarities and
differences with the regular software. Security is a main concern when dealing with Cloud
computing since it is entirely Internet-based, it is quite vulnerable to hacking. However, if the
matter is logically analyzed, almost all contemporary systems of IT are invariably connected
