I am writing this memo to highlight the fact that my research topic is “is second hand smoke a
serious health risk?” In the current scenario, second hand smoking or passive smoking is
considered to be a serious threat for people that can escalated to cancer. According to the
research of Olivieri (2019) approximately 7000 people are died from lung cancer and 33,000
deaths are occurred from heart disease. It is highly important for the health care organisations
and the common people to create a public awareness and better facilities so that this kind of
epidemic can be solved effectively. Henceforth, this research is willing to put a great deal of
emphasis on the risk incurred by second hand smoking.
For a more specific research outcome, I am going to narrow down the research to a more
extensive manner. Therefore, my focus is vested on the scenario in workplace. The research
topic is “impact of second hand smoking on health at workplace”. The purpose of choosing
workplace is that the situation in workplace is identified as most fatal and 2 to 5 times higher
than normal smoking threats. Henceforth, I would like to grab your attention to the fact that I am
going to take necessary steps to formulate an extensive research practice where the major focus
will be cast upon the workplace scenario.
Moreover, the research methodology is associated with the primary data analysis with survey on
the office goers. It is important to note that a probable random sampling technique is going to be

followed with the sample size of 100 office workers. The quantitative data analysis will provide
close ended questions for the respondents and also look forward to get proper responses from the
sample size. In addition to this, there is also an ethical consideration that has to be taken by me.

information of the respondents.
The expected outcome of the research is that the second hand smoking is injurious to health as it
causes cancer. There are potential empirical evidences and primary research procedure that can
deliver a better and effective research findings and help me to carry out the research further for
future scope.
