Executive Summary
The study focuses on employability skills of employees of an organisation and in what way, such
skills assists in bringing reformation in work structure. It shows that there are certain
responsibilities that need to be followed by employees in order to attain good performance in the
business sector. The effectiveness of those responsibilities of employees is clearly described in
the course of this study. In order to make improvements in employability skills, several
recommendations are provided in the study. The study shades light upon the significance of
motivational processes for enhancing quality performance. It portrays several work-based
problems and provides solutions for such problems. Different communication styles are
discussed in this study so that perfect communication process is adopted for ensuring better
results in business. Different time management policies are described and its effectiveness is
clearly stated in the context of this study. Team working spirit of employees and its importance
are elaborated in this study. The study reflects team dynamics and suggests alternative processes
of completion of tasks. This helps in attaining goals of organisations in the long run of business.

Introduction
Employability skills are such skills that help employees of different organization create their own
identity in their individual sector. Communication, team working spirit, problem-solving
characteristics, organizing and planning as well as managing work themselves are some of the
skills that are required to be present within employees of ventures. These skills will help in
developing their own self in an appropriate manner. It is essential that employees need to be very
efficient in their place of work. This will help them to attain goals of venture suitably. Specific
skills of staffs in an enterprise support them to be a reason behind success of such enterprises.
That is why; employees can be considered as an integral part of every business sector. When
staffs or workers of ventures function suitably in their place of work, growth is sure to come in
the name of those ventures. In this study, Arcadia Group is taken as an example for better
understanding regarding employability skills and its effectiveness. Arcadia group is a
multinational organisation of UK that has headquarters in London.
This company is owner of several cloth retailers like Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge Topman,
Topshop and Wallis. This corporation has several numbers of outlets in different area of world. It
was founded in the year 1903 by Montague Burton. This company was positioned in top of list of
London Stock Exchange. In 1990s, there was a decline in sales of clothing market. This led
several companies to undergo losses. However, this entity was found to open up more than 1600
stores in region during that time. As a result, rise in business of this retail sector was seen
thereby, displaying enhancement in profit. It started e-commerce in early days of 1999 and
acquired European market without any problem. A Large number of customers were indulged
under their service thus, expanding its business overseas. Arcadia Group became most desired
company among users because of its unique and creative products. It has conducted its business
properly as years passed by thereby making huge profit in retail sector (Arcadiagroup.co.uk,

different roles in order to bring efficiency among employees in workplace. Recruitment and
selection, managing employees and work as well as supervising entire work environment come
under responsibilities of HR manager. It is essential that proper employees are recruited in
venture so that competition in business sector can be sustained suitably. That is why; learner had
to encounter with different individuals in order to find perfect candidate, who can meet
objectives of Arcadia Group. Messum et al. (2017, p.73) stated that decision-making is an
important role of every manager because accurate decision will aid in bringing success for

Novice had to take suitable decisions that will help in adding profitable advantages for this firm.
Information regarding every task and activity need to be gathered from initial stage of those
tasks. This will help in conducting performance in workplace suitably. Communication needs to
be maintained in proper manner with employees. This will lead to bringing serenity in work
environment and staffs will feel satisfied when they work under such manager. This leads to
bring more efficiency in every task. Handling of emotions of staffs needs to be done
appropriately so that they cannot raise any complaint against an HR. Performance objectives of
learner include meeting financial objectives of firm, providing proper training to employees and
engaging staffs in every task positively. These qualities need to be present within HR of Arcadia
Group as it will aid in performing far better in meeting objectives of this business house

As stated by Nickson and Baum (2017, p.540), performance of employees against set objectives
needs to be of very high level because it will aid in enhancing performance of business units.
Being an HR manager of Arcadia Group, it is essential that proper training needs to be provided
to newly joined candidates. This will bring more effectiveness in every task. Learner can ask for
feedback from those employees in order to know more about employees work. It is essential that
managers need to be friendly with staffs so that they can open up and discuss their problems with
HR without any hesitation. Skills of staffs need to be mapped properly for polishing their
strengths suitably in place of work. Scheduling of work will be possible if such skills are present

some reformation can be done for attaining better results. HR manager can keep a record of

what way, they are comfortable to perform every task. It is recommended that motivation need to
be provided to staffs in every task. This will help in bringing more enthusiasm of such

implementing huge mental strength within employees for ensuring better performance in every
task. Proper motivation assists employees to reach height of success that are never imagined by
them. HR manager of this venture can use this technique of motivation in order to employees
towards right path and providing a correct platform for them. Motivation would help HR
manager to encourage employees to participate in every difficult task. As a result, efficiency as
well as working techniques would be learned by them without facing any issues. HR manager of
Arcadia Group can communicate with staffs in a regular basis. This will lead them to know about

in order to take proper steps for resolving those work based issues. It is identified that employees
are not able to interact with their team members properly and are not able to generate proper
skills during work. These problems might hamper activities of this retail unit. That is why;
solutions are required to be made for resolving such problems duly. HR manager initially
conducted a meeting with employees and tried to listen to all of their issues one by one. This
made manager understood that coordination problem is main reason behind creation of such
nuisance.
As a result, HR developed a training session for all staffs of Arcadia Group and informed them to
attend training sessions in time. During training period, transferrable skills and interpersonal
skills were developed within employees by making them participate in group tasks and by
debating regarding any current market issues. All these tests helped HR to bring great change
within employees and indulge them in tasks of this venture. Jones et al. (2017, p.228) explained

meet their desires eventually. Communication process needs to be very strong for maintaining

different styles of communication can be developed in this enterprise in order to operate
constructively in this enterprise. Inter-personal communication will enhance communication
process between different staffs of firm. This will bring positive impact upon work of this entity.
It is required that intra-personal skills need to be inculcated within individuals of this entity. This

activity need to be set properly by manager so that no issue can be formed while performing such

Being an HR manager of this retail unit, team need to be guided in a proper direction for
maintaining better execution of work. Employees of this venture can become a great reason
behind growth of this entity. Employees understand work initially in a proper manner. If they
discover any difficulty, they discuss that with their manager so that they can get proper guidance
in workplace. Every member of team of this company supports each other greatly. This has
resulted in bringing great immense coordination in workplace. Every member undertakes
responsibility of bringing profit for the firm and tries to deliver their best performance in ever
activity. As a result, huge furtherance in work areas is developed in every new task. For example,
leader of Arcadia Group leads their individual team in a proper direction. If leader finds any

to companies like Arcadia, which has a high productivity level. The problem is a significant one
since the failure of employees to provide proper services to the customers leads to the failure of
properly working of an organisation. Not all time of the year does a company face real problem
issues. It focuses on analysing the customer's goals and needs and aims at ensuring adequate
definition in their system. If the workers work always on a tremendous pressure it will have a
tendency to provide less efficient and not up to the mark quality work and will not be able to
satisfy the managers.

AC 4.1 Evaluating tools and methods for making solution for issues
As per Jackson (2014, p.520) there are various ways to resolve the problems present in any
company and it may improve the leadership and management quality. Decision making is indeed
an important role towards the tools in problem solving. It is important to realize that a problem is
an opportunity to improve the system. It makes the organisation more “problem-competent”.
For the problem that has been identified in the Arcadia group, decision making process wou7ld
be quite useful for the hierarchy since it will provide the pathway to proper solutions of the
problems. Moreover, the higher authorities will be able to reach out to the root cause of the
problem in order to provide valid solutions for solving and maintaining the situation. Thus
decision making process is a tool, which can be used by the hierarchy of Arcadia group for to
resolve problems related to inefficient working of the employees under tremendous pressure. The
decision making process holds significance since, a sudden fault in decisions leads to the
misleading of a whole organisation and the people working in it. The effective ways to make
these decisions capable and effective in implementation is that it does not need to be committed
to its decision personally but must be able to persuade others of its merit. Preparing and planning
implementation of the solution is a major way in culminating the efforts as well as perfect
planning. Brainstorming can be regarded as the major way to combine ideas of various workers
and making a solution at the possibility way in its nature. It then analyses and comes to a

develop the problem solving work. Many people regard the problem from an expected problem
but the results became faulty as some aspects of the project were not successful. No problem

rises from an expected outcome but rather the procedures and the results are faulty or rather it
can be considered as some part of the project as unsuccessful or faulty. In a place of work,
solving of problems does not mean that it is only addressing problems and issues but rather
looking at the things in a better rectified and progressed way. The major or the foremost cause
for the problem in the Arcadia group is that the base or the root cause is not properly defined or
identified.
In a rush, the employer's end or conclude the project on the first solution, which should not be
done. In the rush to finish a project, people often jump to conclusions and take action on the first
solution that appears when in the maximum times there are numerous solutions. The best
solution can be only done by a solving procedure which in this case is the improvement in the
training strategy. An effective approach for the improvement progress is that it needs to maintain
the training on a high and productive level. Improved career paths for workers should be made to
progress in roles that might be useful in their mere future. It should channelize a positive path in
future within the company.
AC 4.3 Evaluating potential influence on business of incorporating strategy
Almost all the employees in the Arcadia group spend a lot of time in their workplace. So for their
refreshments they must allow the workers to spend a quite good amount of time in the internet.
Hiring a good load of productive and sincere employees may not be as productive as assumed if
the company cannot utilize their talent fully. It needs to help in the increased level in the
production and performance. The more the happy are the candidates the more will be the profit
and its sales. They will none the less work for the success of the employees. There must be an
increased level in satisfaction in employees and customers. They are directly proportional as in if
the employees are happy with their work they are bound to make the customers happy.
Respecting each employee along with that various increments will help in their concentration in
work. A break in between is a much needed one for all workers. Increase in the progress of
organisational performance also is an important strategy for implementation. Developing a
proper assessment plan in hiring should be done to develop people. For the better achievement of
the targets and aims, the retailing industry must be able to keep a close view over the activities of
employees. Communication in today's world is a big challenge in organization as well as the
king of connectivity. Training should be modified and updated with time.

Employability skills are important for business because it helps in adding extra benefits in
business sector. It is important for every business units to interact with customers properly so
that they can be satisfied thereby, gaining popularity in market. In order to interact with
customers, employees should know in what way, effective interaction can be done. That is why,
employability skills find such importance in business arena. However, it is recommended that
positive skills need to be developed for dealing with subordinate employees. If such things are
not done, effect can be perilous for every business sector. It is highly recommended that
enterprises need to undertake reactions of staffs as matter of serious concern. This will help in
developing employees in a proper manner thereby, fulfilling needs of employers. Moreover,
employee turnover will also be reduced if such skills are developed within top management of
business sectors.
In addition to this, personal development of staffs and workers will also take place if
employability skills are developed suitably. It will be possible to deal with challenges in a proper
manner. Employees can be guided such a path that will pave way of progression for every
business sector. Besides, competition in market can be sustained without any trouble.
Encouragement and enthusiasm in work processes can be developed if such skills are present
within employers of firms. Therefore, creativity and innovation in workplace is sure to come
when satisfaction of staffs are ascertained in every activity. However, training and development
sessions are also equally significant for developing such skills within an employer. This will help
in assuring that organisations are in a right track of attaining their goals. Apart from this,
alternative objective has been set in this study for understanding importance of employability
skills.
