INTRODUCTION
Skills are the natural talents and the experience which develops to perform a task or job.
Personal skills are considered as soft skills that emerge naturally among the individuals.
Developing effective skills makes more confident and increase the overall productivity in the
organization. By gaining of knowledge, skills and experience assist to move forward in the
career (Barrable, Papadatou-Pastou and Tzotzoli, 2018). Hence, the report will include essential
skills which helps the student to be successful in future along with its importance in the
workplace. Further it will provide the recommendations that improve the content of the CV
which helps in getting placed at appropriate organization.
MAIN BODY
Skills that students require to be successful at university
Skills refers to the ability and potential to self manage, solve problem and the
understanding of environment. The students with effective soft skills lead to growth and
expansion of their knowledge (Fazal, Hussain and Majoka , 2012). Among various skills there
are five effective skills that students are required to be successful in future below are as follows:-
1. Communication Skills- An effective communication skills enables the students to adapt
more from the learning process. With the habit of proper reading, writing and listening
carefully makes the communication effective. The students may ask relevant questions
and discuss their doubts to teachers will results in better understanding. Communication
process consists of exchanging ideas, thoughts, knowledge and information with others
(Dolan, 2017). It helps in capturing large audience with proper eye contact which depicts
the interest and efficiency level of receiver. This also enables to use varied of vocabulary
and tailor the language according to the receiver's perspective. Communication skills
enables the student to be successful in future career and also beneficial in the workplace.
Effective communication helps the candidate to speak and respond among the
subordinates. This also provides the confidence level at workplace to present their views
and opinions in front of management.
2. Time Management- It is the process of planning and managing the work with the
division of time between various activities. Effective time management enables to work
in a smarter way rather than doing work in harder (Aeon and Aguinis, 2017). The

students must set their short term and long term goals, which helps in division of time
according to the work. With the fixed time frame of work, students can prioritize their
task and activities according their importance. By setting priorities of the work will help
the students to accomplish their goals. An effective time management reduces the stress
level of students, by completing their task on or before time (Ghiasvand and et.al., 2017).
This helps the students to make the efficient use of their abilities and enjoy the
satisfaction of their work. By effectively managing the time, the students will able to
perform better at workplace with less time of availability. They will be focused on
completion of task and do not waste their time on distractions.
3. Stress Management- It is the broad concept in which a range of strategies helps the
students to deal better with the stress and difficulties in daily life. Stress is an automatic
physical, mental and emotional response to a challenging activity or a task (Bhargava and
Trivedi, 2018). The students with more stress will lead to depression and anxiety. To
avoid these conditions students must adopt stress management techniques which makes
to take positive actions for minimizing their effects of stress. By managing stress, enables
the students to lead a more balanced and healthier lifestyle. An effective stress
management will helps the students to boost up the employee morale which motivates
and keep them focused on their jobs and performance. It also ensures in maintaining a
strong, healthy workplace culture that's conductive to creativity and productivity.
4. Problem Solving – It is the mental process that involves discovering, analysing and
solving problems in better way. The students must have problem solving skills which
helps them to overcome various obstacles and enables to find a solution according to the
circumstances. The organizations are in search for employees who has ability to tackle
difficult or unexpected situations in the workplace (Saygılı, 2017). Students must
emphasise on identification of situation and calmly present with the unique solutions to
overcome the problem. Problem solver can observe, judge and quickly act when
difficulties arise. This skills will help the students to look at challenges from a positive
perspective at the workplace rather considering as problem. Effective problem solving
skills will develop greater situational and social awareness at the workplace.
Additionally, they will learn to manage time and develop patience.

5. Technological Skills– These are the set of abilities and knowledge used to perform
practical tasks by using advanced technology. In today's competitive world, students must
be friendly with the use of computers and laptops to perform various programming
languages, designing of programs, data analysis etc (Rodrigues and et.al., 2021). The
technical skills help the students to work efficiently and boost the confidence to be
valuable candidate in the organization. The students must be effective and expertize to
perform specific digital tasks. This skills makes the students to be more adaptive with
frequent changes and competencies in the future scenario. In context with technological
skills will helps the students to work faster and will be beneficial in the workplace. This
will help the candidate to perform daily operations of the organizations. Technology
skills gives the student to learn and adapt the digital task at the workplace for their better
performance.
Recommendations to improve Curriculum Vitae
Curriculum Vitae is a short document used by the candidates for applying the job in a
certain organization. It is a summarize format of person's education, skills, qualification and
experience. A good attractive CV makes a good impression on employers which helps in future
selection for the appropriate job role (Woo, Oman and et.al., 2019). From various researches it
has been observed that many students are lacking behind in the formation of an appropriate CV
for the job offers. Their are certain recommendations given which helps the students to improve
their CV's below are as follows-
 Work Experience- The students must include the past work experiences in the Cv which
depicts that candidate is more passionate and interested to learn new things (Macfarlane,
2020). It must include their growth phase and the changes in the roles & responsibilities.
This will show the recruiter that the candidate have learnt a lot from a past positions and
highlight the committed to learning and expanding the skills set. The candidates needs to
ensure that CV must be between one or two pages.
 Modify the objective statement to a CV profile- The students must change their
objective statement as this helps them to summarize their qualifications in a smart way.
However, a CV profile provides thorough information about the candidates qualifications

which allows the employer to get a quick overview of all points. The best CV profiles
include the following components such as students can use the heading professional
profile or a relevant title to introduce the statement. After that students can summarize in
one or two short paragraphs as their professional statement. Students always advised to
use bullet points under the heading 'skills' rather than writing in paragraph form. It
includes relevant skills along with certifications that are achieved.
 Extra-Curricular Activities – The CV should include extra-curricular activities which
will be extremely beneficial for job hunting. These are the activities which makes the
students to standout unique from others. This section will show that candidate is active in
participating various activities and programs. This makes the candidate best suitable for
workplace as it describes the candidate potential level to learn and adapt more knowledge
while working .
 Include a Personal Statement –A good personal statement will be extremely effective
for the employer if it is right. Keep it short, by highlighting the level of experience,
attractive skills and the professional qualities that make the students appropriate for the
job. The students must always check the grammatical, spelling and punctuation mistakes
before finalizing the CV. It must be format in appropriate fonts and size which includes
standard fonts of Times New Roman, calibre etc.
 Incorporate keywords- The recruiters don't have enough time to go through complete
CV, they only catch the key points. So it is important to concise the Cv with the use of
bullet points to shorten the paragraphs. This makes more comfortable and easier for
employer to review the candidates qualifications. By using of keywords will enhance the
candidates CV and improve the chances to get selected from a bundle of other applicants.
Conclusion
From the above report it can be concluded that students must develop their skills which makes
them unique and different from others in the competitive scenario. A combination of hard work
and soft skills in the workplace will make the teams which turns the business in more efficient
and productive manner. Thus, soft skills help in building self-confidence, encourage critical

thinking and helps the people to communicate effectively. Many company leaders seek
employees with the motive to effect positive outcomes for the organizations.
