2 ABSTRACT:
Globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) is dealing with several issues that are affecting its
capacity to carry out its mission of ensuring the best level of health for everyone. These difficulties
include things like a lack of money, political meddling, resource limitations, and a lack of cooperation
among global stakeholders. Furthermore, the current COVID-19 epidemic has significantly strained the
WHO's resources and personnel while simultaneously highlighting the crucial significance of a robust
and functioning WHO. Notwithstanding these difficulties, WHO is dedicated to fulfilling its mission and is
making great efforts to remove these barriers and advance global health outcomes. The WHO is now
dealing with several issues, and this abstract emphasizes the organization's initiatives to address these
issues and achieve
3 INFORMATION:
A specialized arm of the UN, the World Health Organization (WHO) is in charge of advancing and
defending public health globally. To enhance the health and well-being of the populace in Pakistan, the
WHO has been collaborating closely with the national government and other key players
In Pakistan, the WHO has taken an active role in addressing a variety of health issues, such as mental
health, emergency response, nutrition, maternity and child health, and both infectious and non-
communicable diseases
. The WHO has aided in the formulating and applying o evidence-based health policies and initiatives in

5 LITERATURE REVIEW
This literary report is prepared by taking data from multiple sources that are authentic and reliable with
concrete information .author describes the challenges faced by the WHO and remained
unresolved .author also discusses the funding problem of the organization author said, The organization
relies heavily on voluntary contributions from member states, which can vary greatly in size and level of
commitment. In recent years, there has been a decline in the amount of funding received by the WHO,
which has led to cutbacks in programs and services. In this literature, the author says This has affected

the organization's ability to respond to global health emergencies and to address ongoing health issues
such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. The writers discuss the moral and ethical decisions that the
firm has made or should have made while presenting examples from real-life situations and their
contemporary repercussions
6 RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES
n this work, a secondary research method was practiced. The articles were utilized to offer information
that was either recently reported or addressed issues from the past that are still unresolved. Whereas,
Secondary research methodologies can provide valuable insights into a wide range of topics and are
often more cost-effective and faster than primary research methodologies. Some of the data available
on the internet about the WHO's challenges and problems include reports and articles from reputable
sources, such as the WHO's website, academic journals, and news organizations. However, it is
important to be aware that not all data on the internet is reliable or accurate, and some sources may
have biases or agendas that could affect the information they provide.
Therefore, it is essential to critically evaluate the sources of information and the quality of the data
when researching the WHO's challenges and problems. Researchers should use reputable sources and
critically evaluate the information to ensure that it is reliable and relevant to their research question.
Additionally, it can be useful to triangulate data from multiple sources to increase the validity and
reliability of the findings.
7 QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE
APPROACH ANALYSIS
7.1 QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS
It involves examining non-numerical data, such as interviews, case studies, and
observation, to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying factors affecting health outcomes. WHO
uses qualitative methods to explore the cultural, social, economic, and political determinants of health,
which can be difficult to measure through quantitative methods alone. For example, WHO might
conduct interviews with local health workers, policymakers, or community leaders to understand the
social and cultural factors influencing the spread of disease.
7.2 QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS
On the other hand, involves using numerical data and statistical methods to
measure health outcomes and determine the impact of interventions. WHO uses quantitative methods
to gather and analyze data on health indicators such as mortality rates, disease incidence, and access to
health services. WHO also uses statistical models to estimate disease burden and forecast the impact of
interventions, such as vaccination campaigns or health policies.
Document Page
By combining qualitative and quantitative approaches, WHO can provide a more complete picture of
global health issues and develop evidence-based policies and interventions that are effective and
culturally appropriate.
8 SIGNIFICANCE OF RESEARCH
WHO's research is significant in guiding global health policies, disease control and prevention, health
system strengthening, emergency response, and promoting health equity. Its research findings have a
significant impact on improving the health of people worldwide. Following are the examples:
1. Health system strengthening: whose research contributes to the strengthening of health
systems by identifying best practices, developing guidelines, and building capacity in the health
workforce and infrastructure.
2. Disease control and prevention: WHO's research focuses on the control and prevention of
communicable and non-communicable diseases. Its findings guide the development of strategies for
disease control and prevention, which are implemented globally. ETC….
9 WHO’S PROFIT /FUNDING
WHO gets its funding from two main sources: Member States paying their assessed contributions
(countries’ membership dues), and voluntary contributions from Member States and other partners.
Assessed contributions (AC) are a percentage of a country’s gross domestic product (the percentage is
agreed upon by the United Nations General Assembly). Member States approve them every two years at
the World Health Assembly. They cover less than 20% of the total budget.
The remainder of WHO’s financing is in the form of voluntary contributions (VC), largely from Member
States as well as from other United Nations organizations, intergovernmental organizations,
philanthropic foundations, the private sector, and other sources.
10 CONSEQUENCES OF POOR MANAGEMENT
10.1 LOW-QUALITY HEALTHCARE IS INCREASING THE BURDEN OF
ILLNESS AND HEALTH COSTS GLOBALLY
Poor quality health services are holding back progress on improving health in countries at all income
levels, according to a new joint report by the OECD, World Health Organization (WHO), and the World
Bank. Today, inaccurate diagnosis, medication errors, inappropriate or unnecessary treatment,
inadequate or unsafe clinical facilities or practices, or providers who lack adequate training and expertise
prevail in all countries. The situation is worst in low and middle-income countries where 10 percent of
hospitalized patients can expect to acquire an infection during their stay, as compared to seven percent in
high-income countries. This is despite hospital-acquired infections being easily avoided through better
hygiene, improved infection control practices, and appropriate use of antimicrobials.. At the same time,
one in ten patients is harmed during medical treatment in high-income countries .whereas if an

organization does not work efficiently and according to the policies then the organization would have to
face a devastating situation.
11ADDRESSING CLIMATE CRISIS
According to the WHO, the global climate problem significantly impacts health since air pollution kills an
estimated seven million people every year. In addition, according to the WHO, the same emissions that
cause global warming are also to blame for more than 25% of fatalities from heart disease, lung cancer,
stroke, and chronic respiratory diseases. According to WHO, climate change also makes malnutrition
worse and encourages the spread of infectious diseases.
To address the problem, the WHO stated that it is trying to develop "a set of policy alternatives for
countries" to reduce the health hazards connected to air pollution. According to the group, "Leaders in
the public and commercial sectors must collaborate to improve our air quality and lessen the effects of
climate change on our health."
12 GLOBAL HEALTH CARE INEQUALITY
Socioeconomic inequality is constantly expanding and has a terrible impact on people's health all around
the world. According to WHO, there is a significant gap in life expectancy between countries and even
within towns, in addition to the 18-year divide between affluent and poor countries. They continued by
saying that low- and middle-income countries are disproportionately affected by the global rise in
chronic diseases like cancer, respiratory conditions, and diabetes. To meet this challenge, WHO (and
partners) are working to advance nutrition, gender equality, mental health, and access to clean water.
Also, WHO is trying to enhance both commercial and public health care.
12.1 EXPANDING ACCESS TO MEDICINES
The Western Pacific Regional Office of WHO's efforts to increase access to necessary medications is
focused on three areas:
To increase access to medications, developing policies and bolstering pharmaceutical systems is
necessary.
enhancing national regulatory frameworks.
improving the logical choice and usage of medications.
Developing medication policies and strengthening pharmaceutical systems for evidence-based selection,
procurement and supply management, funding, pricing control, stewardship, and rational usage are the

first two components of the first component. In light of intellectual property regimes and international
trade agreements, it also entails supporting nations in their adoption and implementation of
international norms and standards and assuring access to medicines.
The second part entails monitoring subpar and fake medications as well as support for legislation and
quality control.
The third component of the rational selection and use of medications deals with the difficulties of
selecting necessary medications based on evidence and using medications (including antibiotics)
rationally.
13 DELIVERING HEALTH IN CONFLICT AND CRISIS
In nations saturated with conflict, the arduous challenge of limiting disease epidemics is even more
difficult. 193 medical professionals died as a result of nearly 1,000 attacks on healthcare workers and
medical facilities in 11 different countries in 2019. Many healthcare personnel continues to be
vulnerable despite increased surveillance. There is frequently little or no access to healthcare for the
tens of millions of individuals who are compelled to escape their homes.
14 STOPPING INFECTIOUS DISEASES
Millions of people continue to die from infectious diseases, the majority of them being poor. It doesn't
appear that this situation will alter very soon.HIV, TB, and malaria are just a few of the diseases that can
be stopped from spreading with enough financing and effective healthcare systems. However, these
resources are scarce in some places where they are most needed. To create immunization programs,
share information on disease outbreaks, and lessen the impacts of drug resistance, more funds and
political will are needed.
15 PROTECTING PEOPLE FROM DANGEROUS PRODUCTS
Malnutrition and food insecurity are widespread issues in the world's poorer regions, yet at the same
time, obesity rates and issues with diet are rising. We need to change how we eat, consume less food
and drink high in sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats, and encourage sustainable, healthy diets. To do this,
the WHO is collaborating with nations to create policies that lessen our dependency on toxic foods.
16 COMBAT DRUG RESISTANCE
. Only if we have efficient medications to treat infectious diseases will global attempts to
eradicate them be successful
Therefore, it will be crucial to building on the work we already conduct with stakeholders from all
sectors and our One Health partners, the Food and Agricultural Organisation and World Organis
ation for Animal Health (OIE), to safeguard antibiotics.
Document Page
Political and business leaders will gather for the first time in January as part of the newly formed
Global Leadership Group on Antimicrobial Resistance to debate how to move this important topi
c forward more quickly.
At the same time, WHO will continue to expand global surveillance and assist national action pla
ns, ensuring that antimicrobial resistance is taken into account in plans for bolstering the health
system and preparing for medical emergencies.
17 THE BURDEN OF NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
Unless prompt action is taken, the burden of chronic, no-communicable diseases (NCDs), which mostly
include heart disease, stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory disease, and diabetes, will have serious social,
economic, and health ramifications. The primary NCDs caused 38 million deaths annually, or 63% of all
fatalities, in 2012. Already, 80 percent of these fatalities take place in developing and middle-income
nations. WHO can considerably reduce these deaths because NCDs are mainly avoidable.
18 RISING AWARENESS
Health is a global concern and impacts economies the world over, so we must support
specific days that raise awareness and educate about particular health conditions. Health
issues can impact each of us personally, or perhaps we may know someone living with
certain health issues.
World health days are an important opportunity for individuals, organizations, governments,
and health authorities worldwide to reinforce their commitment to supporting people living
with mild or chronic health conditions. Dedicating an entire day to a particular health issue
helps raise greater awareness about the causes, symptoms, effects, and potential
treatments available. Raising awareness about health issues may also help prevent people
from developing certain health issues. For example, disseminating resources about certain
health risks can support people's knowledge and understanding of issues impacting health.
Health days can also decrease misinformation that can harm suffers.
So these are major international health-related days and
opportunities that occur annually around the world.
February 4 - World Cancer Day
February 15 - International Childhood Cancer Day
March - World Endometriosis Awareness Month
March 3 - World Hearing Day etc….
19 POTENTIAL SOLUTION
Several potential solutions could help address these problems. Here are a few examples:
1. Increase funding: One of the major challenges facing the WHO is a lack of adequate
funding. Increasing funding for the organization would enable it to expand its programs and initiatives,
as well as provide support to countries with limited resources.
2. Strengthen partnerships: Collaborating with other organizations and stakeholders can
help the WHO better address global health issues. By working together, these groups can share
knowledge, resources, and expertise to improve health outcomes worldwide.

3. Prioritize prevention: The WHO could place greater emphasis on preventing diseases and
health problems rather than just treating them. This could involve investing in research on disease
prevention, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, and improving access to vaccines and other preventive
measures.
4. Improve communication: The WHO could improve its communication strategies to
better educate the public and policymakers about global health issues. This could involve leveraging
social media and other digital channels to reach a wider audience, as well as working with local
communities to raise awareness about health risks and prevention strategies.
So many other solutions could be considered in this regard to strengthen the world health
organization.
20 CONCLUSION
In a nutshell, the WHO is a sensitive organization that deals with people’s health issues and life of people, quality
of food, and distribution of relevant medicine is the responsibility of that organization globally .therefore if the
organization could not able to perform efficiently and effectively that can be the cause of loss of life of
humans .organization need to strengthen its policies and should implement on those policies to make world better
place for the people to live life free form disease or at least good treatment of that disease.
