INTRODUCTION
Study skills are defined as the development of certain characteristics which help a student to
enhance his or her professional life. When an individual gets a degree, it improvises the job
prospects. This also provides a technical ability for a student and develops few soft skills too.
These are necessary for managing successful life. This report includes the importance of skills
that are needed by students for successful life.
Identify five skills that students require to be successful at university and discuss why they are
also important in the workplace
Students need to develop skills in order to manage the efficiency in their work. Skill
development and enhancement enables a person to get good career opportunities. There are some
skills which are required by students in order to be successful in university. These are mentioned
below –
Communication skills – This is known as the skill which enables a student to interact with
other people in effective manner. This will provide help to manage completion of different
activities in efficient manner. Communication is known basis of any successful cooperation and
this is bilateral and includes feedback. In context of communication, it is analysed that channels
and forms used for interacting with other people is necessary because it helps the person to
convey the message in more prominent way. Communication in a student provides possibilities
of creation and expression of content.
Time management – Time is known as a finite resource which is needed for completing all
activities and tasks properly. This includes planning and controlling the amount of time needed
to complete specific activities or tasks. There is need to manage the timings and complete work
in given time frame. For a student, time management is very important as it helps to manage
completion of different projects. Good time management skills provide help to students in
prioritising tasks so that they are able to compete assignments and work. students are able to plan
effectively their activities so that they can manage the projects properly. There is need for all
students to develop time management which is going to help them in future effectively.
Critical thinking and problem solving It is seen that critical thinking and problem
solving are helpful for a student to conduct daily activities efficiently. Students can tackle all
situations properly through effective critical thinking and they can conceptualise, analyse,
