INTRODUCTION
Listening skills is ability to accurately receive and interpret the message that has been
communicated by other individuals. So without effective listening skills, the message sent is
misunderstood which result in ineffective performance of task. Student must have good listening
skills in order to learn and interpret whatever that has been taught by the teacher in the classroom
for their overall growth and development. This report has included key information pertaining to
three listening challenges, strategies that could be used by teacher to improve listening skills of
student. Moreover, consist of description pertaining to challenges and strategies that I have
experience that helps me in becoming my better listener.
MAIN BODY
1. Three listening challenges that are mention in article
The lecture must have sufficient skills pertaining to the way information need to
be communicate so that student can easily interpret and understand the same in effective manner.
The students were mainly facing issue pertaining to linguistic challenge as the teacher speaks in
different language that is not understood by them. In terms of delivery, academic and specialist
vocabulary and many more, so there are various listening challenges that are face by student in
understanding what has been taught by teacher can be illustrated as follows:
False start and repetition: It has been identified from the above article that the student are
suffering challenges in listening as the teacher is making false start along with using long
sentences and repeating them. Thus, long sentence create problem for student to understanding
and retaining the information for longer time (Kuznetsova and et.al., 2018).
Technical terms: The lecturer makes use of more technical terms that is difficult for student to
learn and interpret the meaning, understand it, pronounce and hear. Likewise it make use of
words such as hemicraniectomy, thrombolysis that are difficult for them even to spell and hear
which create challenge in effective listening.
Complex / convoluted structures and language: The last key challenges that are face by
student in listening the information communicates by teacher is the sentences are more complex
and language use by teacher is somewhat different. For examples: it make use of sentence “ the
very exciting acute treatment which has now emerged over the past ten years as I’ve said with
thrombolysis and hemicraniectomy” that are too complex for student to understand. Therefore
