Abstract
There are number of challenges and issues faced by student that will they enter to university
for their course. These issues and challenges will lead to have major impact on their
personality as well as behaviour. It is essential for student to identify and analyse these
challenges so that they can perform better in university course.

INTRODUCTION
Higher education is very important for a student but it comprises of various issues and
problems. It is essential for a student to identity their major problems that is affecting their
performance in academic studies (Smith and Randall, 2015). By analysing and evaluating
different issues and problems that are faced by student while going to university for higher
education, better solutions can be determine that will support in effective performance of a
student. This report will includes various challenges through which a student experience
when they start university. Various challenges are determined properly and along with this
recommendation are provided in order to overcome these challenges.
Literature Review
Literature review can be describe as the survey that done through scholar sources such
as books, articles and theses. This will support in identifying information related to question
as well as gaining more knowledge. In this literature review different issues that is faced by a
student when they go for higher education in university is determined properly.
Identify and evaluate some of the main challenges that students experience when they
start university.
As per the view of Mollie Porein, (2015), it has been determined that there are
number of issues and problems faced by student when they start going to start a university
course. There are some students that are very excited when they start going to university but
at the same time it is very difficult from them to manage university activities. There are many
university students that are working as professional and many of these have different
responsibility towards their society (9 Common Problems Students Face During University
Life, 2018). Main challenges that occur when they student start university and these
challenges are mention below in detail. Major issues that is faced by student when the start
going university are related to management of time as well as their other commitments
towards. These issues affect their capabilities and grades in academic course. It is essential
for a student to determine and analyse these issues and this will help in dealing with
challenges in more effective manner. University experience will lead to have significant
impact on personality and other attributes of an individual. While studying in an university a
person has to focus on different activities and task (Kim and et.al., 2014). There are
different ways and methods that can be used by students to overcome these challenges and

issues. It is very important for a student to manage these issues as this will lead to have direct
impact over performance and grades of student (Porter and et.al., 2014).
Analyse and discussion of all questions
As per the above analyse of different challenges and problems it has been determines that it is
crucial for a student to resolve these issues and challenges. All of desired goals and objectives
of person can be accomplished when student is able to manage time in correct and
appropriate manner. There are several ways and methods that can be used by a student in
order to resolve their challenges and issues correctly. There are various recommendation
mention below that will help student to overcome these challenges as well as perform better
in Higher education.
Challenge -1 Adjustment to new life – When a student start studying in university they face
issues in adjusting to their new life. It has been determined that studying in university in
whole new experience in which a person will able to learn new thing as well as understand
different things. Adjustment in new university life is very challenging for many students. In
this first year of university often student find it very difficult to adjust in university life as
well as they take time to get habitual various things (Jones, Torres and Arminio, 2013). In
this time frame routine of students will be changes and they will find it difficult to adjust in
new culture or routine of university.
Recommendation
Positive attitude – This will lead to have impact over behaviour as well as
performance of an individual. It is crucial for a person to have positive attitude when they are
studying in university. This type of attitude is very helpful in performing university task and
activities in more better and correct manner (Stough and et.al., 2018). This will assist in
gaining good grades as well as accomplishing desired goals and objective.
Challenge -2 Homesickness – This is one of the most common problem around the
university students as it is very difficult for them handle changes (Cottrell, 2019). There are
many student who will go far away from their home for further studies. So because this it is
very challenging for many student to get adjust in new life. It is very hard for those students
who are attached to their home. Homesickness issues arises when a student do not want to go
university and want to stay home. This refer to the interest of student to be in touch with their
loved ones.

Recommendation
Connect with family – Student who live near to their parent home can visit their
homes in some time in order to resolve this issues. Student can connect through phone calls,
video calls, emails and other with their family.
Challenge - 3 Cost – This is one of the crucial problem arise when a person want to study in
university. Due to rise in university cost as well as increase in other expenses it is very
difficult for a person to studying in university (Ziguras, 2013). Huge amount charged by
university is the issues that is faced by person when they want to study and go to university.
Recommendation
Student loan – It is recommended to take appropriate load in order to resolve the
issues of cost and money. There are many students who can not afford high cost or do not
have financial resources so that they can handle the expenses of university. Student loan will
help in providing financial resources to manage cost of University.
Challenge - 4 Building relationships – For many students it is very difficult to make new
friends or develop new relations. This is the challenge that is faced by person then they start
studying in University. It is very hard for a person to identify and analyse true people in
university as well as make friends. It is important for a person to develop new friend as they
will provide support to students. There are many people in university with different interest
and it is hard for student to find right friend as well as fit in with groups of people with
different interest.
Recommendation
Developing strong relationships – For a student friends and relationships are very
supportive as they help in during hard time. It is recommended that a person needs to create
and develop strong relationship and friendship in university as this will help in enhancing
university experience.
Challenge - 5 Time management issue – When a person go to university they are
responsible for conducting different types of activities (Baskarada, 2014). Time management
is one the crucial issue that is faced by student. It is important for a student to engaged in
different types of activities when they are in university. A student will have to attend lectures
of various subject and many student follow their passion and take participate in activities of

their interest. It is very difficult for a student to manage different types of activities and take
regular university lectures as well as participate in extra circular activates. This will affect the
whole performance of individual and this issues arise due to lack of time management skills.
Recommendation
Creating plan – It is essential for a student to develop and create a proper plan that
will help in providing guidance to students. A student must be well prepared and create a plan
when they are studying in university (Best and Best, 2013). This is very effective way that
can be used by company for managing time and activities. Plan will includes all of those
activities that needs to be performed by student when they are in university.
Challenge -6 Commitment to work and family – There are many students in university
that have other commitment related to their family and office work. Students who are
working as profession in organisation find it very difficult to manage their university task
along with office work. It is very challenging for students to full fill their commitment with
family and focus on the studies (Kaiser and et.al., 2014). Commitments to office work and
family is challenging for students and it is hard for them to correctly manage their university
activities.
Recommendation
Prioritize task – It is essential for student to prioritize and schedule all activities of a
day in correct manner. This recommendation will help in full filling other commitments and
all task of individual.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that there are different issues and problems
that is related to student when they start going to university. It is essential for a student to
deal with these challenges and issues in order to gain better grades in their academic course.
The major issues that is faced by company is majorly occur due to lack of time management
skills as well as their incapability. Student needs to develop required skills and capabilies
that will support in dealing with these challenges and along with this their academic
experience can be properly enhanced. Student will be able to attain their desired goals and
objectives by overcoming these challenges.
