INTRODUCTION
Study skills are the skills that has been helping an student to attain sustainability within
academic year. These skills helps in developing of factors which enhances students capability to
perform task during its college or school life. These skills involves overall development of
students academic life. Study skills hold importance in academic life of student as advancement
is done over those factors which makes confidence and stability to be developed in performance
of student. Such skills covers wider scope as they deal with academic factors which affects
studies of an individual. Nature of these skills is dynamic as they makes students to meet
academic requirement set by them over an academic project. In this report reading and writing
skills is to be developed in student has to be discussed.
MAIN BODY
Discuss some strategies that students can use to improve their reading ability.
Reading skills is refereed as the ability that makes understanding over written text
possible. These skills are required to be developed at early stage of academic year. Such skills
holds importance in students life as there understanding upon a written text is developed with
enhancement over knowledge that results into reading comprehension to be performed by them.
Reading skills help in making meaning over a particular topic (Mason, 2019). Various
components should be master by students in order to makes sure that proper understanding is
developed upon a message. This is also recognized as manipulating of words spoken in various
languages. Phonic has defined these skills as “understanding letter-sound correspondences in
reading and spelling”. Reading skills also make development of text reading with speed,
accuracy and expressions to convey message. Fourth component is vocabulary by making
understanding of words possible through reading by making linking word through oral
vocabulary. The reading comprehension is defined as direct teaching of students to be aware
over cognitive process within which reading is involved. In order to make development of skills
through vitality over students development and makes developing of competency with all over
attainment in an educational institute. Reading is one of the important part of students life from
perspective of educational success. Also an student engaged in reading at early age is done.
These skills has been helping students in getting success in both school and college. Through this
skills development every age student gains success in life with confidence to be increased.

Students require to develop reading skills and for this purpose they can use following strategies
explained as follows:
Annotate and highlight text: Students should highlight or underline valuable information as
required. This helps an student to make notes and other valuable information to be regarding
comprehension. Also students write down question through reading which create opportunity to
clear exams or an important project to be submitted on time (Sera and McPherson, 2019).
Personalize the content: Students also develop basic understanding over material connects with
life. Also students make connections with text to be written down over page. Students get help
through comprehend text by making association with academic skills.
Practice problem solving skills: This makes students to develop problem solving skills as per
the curriculum. It helps in making students develop understanding upon ideas and problem
related to them.
Incorporate more senses: Through this students makes learning and comprehension to be done
in more sensible manner. Then students is required to read with pen or pencil to write what they
are reading.
Understand common themes: This makes students to understand about theme through chapter
for increasing engagement. Also students share findings with class for helping students learn
specific then per month.
Set reading goals: This makes students to develop own reading goals. This is helpful in taking
action in building reading skills through improvizing in it.
Read in portions: It makes reading to be developed in student by making portions of an content
to be learned. In this segments students helps in retaining information over class discussed
through materials. This is helpful in building confidence for understanding complex subject in
better way(Tzotzoli, Gooze’e and Papadatou-Pastou, 2016).

conventions, style guides and formatting for different situations are also an important part of
writing skills. These skills helps students in developing ability to enhance its writing skills these
skills can be developed through following ways:
Adapting Language to The Specific Readers
This is helpful fir students to develop knowledge and skills over various aspects of
subjects which is been specified for students. It is helpful in making enhancement of language
through understanding. As per this students form message to be framed in students mind.
Adapting requires that makes visualizing of students possible by making knowledge to be
gained.
Using Familiar Words
Utilizing of familiar words makes the content written by student be more easy to be
understood. The words should be able to convey meaning of every letter and complexity is

Choosing Short Words
Short words and abbreviations should be used by student where require this make notes
preparation more easily done. Also in this communication is improved with coordination that
makes student develop communication. Such words helps in developing an essay and making
understanding clear. It also suggest that in most situation student should concentrate over short

Avoiding Overuse of Camouflaged Verbs
Verbs should be used in proper manner and no re pitting of words is required as this
makes writing skills not to be developed in student. If due to any reason it is done them meaning
of words is also changed.
Selecting Words for Precise Meanings
Students should use knowledge in order to make facts clear about the content that has to
be written. In this language and words has been to be taken care by students for making there

skills to be enhanced.
Avoiding Gender Discriminating Words
Students should not use any kind of inappropriate means or language that promotes
gender discrimination in any means. This is one of the most specific thing that has to be used or
kept in mind while writing. The category of words that should not be used are as follows:
No masculine pronunciation that changes the meaning of words and directly makes
discrimination to occur through ideas presented by student is required to be eliminate.
This can be understood through example like “ college students eats there lunch in
college canteen”. This can be written as “students eats lunch at student corner during
lunch time”.
Also the pronunciation which makes an ideas to be presented in negative manner should
be eliminated . As they may lead to make promotion to discrimination practices.
Various words used in writing can be substituted through natural expression instead of
using name of the person (Wibrowski, Matthews and Kitsantas, 2017).
CONCLSION
From the above report it can be concluded that both reading and writing skills has
important role to play in students life. These skills helps in making academic performance more
effective with positive impact. Also students requires to develop these skills for this purpose
various thing such as grammatical error, using of verbs, validity of content should be kept in
mind. Other part of the report talks about writing skills which is also important form view point
of enhancing learning capability.
