Reading ability is an important part of life that help us to communicate and understand
things better and increase thinking skills. It improves students vocabulary, fluency, reasoning
and background knowledge sentence constructions and cohesion etc. that help in to increase their
basic to professional knowledge in the respective field students are applying (Yasin, and Shah,
2019). This essay mentions the students reading skills and how they improve using different
strategies and models are suggested to improve the reading skills needed to developed by the
students for the future growth.
Strategies that are used to improve the Reading ability.
To improve reading skills of a student can be enhanced by applying various strategies
and planning. These strategies can help students to develop their personal developments skills
and communication skills to interact with the professional world. This not only develop skills but
also convey confidence to face professional world with talented skills gain. This strategy
improves in vocabulary, fluency and pronunciation of specific words. Skills can be gained
through online and offline where online applications help to develop skills by interacting new
people from all over the world. Whereas, offline classes with help of tutor and professors to gain
skills through personal interaction by dealing face to face.
The strategies that can be used by students to improve their skills through following:
Annotate and High spot text: The valuable informations should be marked and
highlighted that help student to focused on the relevant topics and important words that need to
be learned and memorize (Kendeou, and O'Brien, 2018). It also helps to know the specific topics
and words for that can be recognized through seeing the highlighted text. Through this strategy
students can learn and recognized the words easily in near future and help to understand the
meaning of words and sentence of books. New concept with new words can be easily
acknowledged by students that can be clear from tutor or professor from the learning institutes.
Practise Problem solving: The real case studies should be used for practising the specific
problems for better understanding of real life situation that will be faced by students in their
future. This can also help to build confidence in students to face different critical situation of life
that will be faced in future and solve effectively according to situation. The students can improve
this skills by taking extra classes for specific purpose to learn this type of situations or with
professor of their school or collage.

Personalize the content: The content that are learning by students by connecting with their
personal life situation. It will help to understand better and can be learned quickly through
connecting with personal life and experience(Suraprajit, 2019). It is more effective to develop
reading ability of student by imagination and connecting with real life situations. It also
improves the thinking ability of student and create self-confidence to deal with uncertain
situation that arise anytime. This method is more effective as student imagine himself in real
situation and understand it in better way than any other methods.
Understanding common themes: To increase the ability of reading in students, it can be used
with more effective through certain theme. The individual themes will help student to develop
the specific ability and skill to learn properly. All individual themes can be focused the right way
and learn in-depth that increase the efficiency to learn and remain interest to learn new things.
This theme are gather with common interest and that are increase with every level with time.
However, same nature of themes are grouped together and implement this theme with step by
step in their learning stage.
Reading in Parts: It is hard to read and learn long paragraphs of the books and materials and
makes it feel boring. The students can increase their ability through learning in short paragraphs.
It helps student to retain the information for longer time period and easy to learn. It is easy to
learn and think in the short para of complex subjects that may sound boring sometimes. This
strategy increases ability to learn the complex subjects with interest. However, it also brings
confidence to learn complex subject and adapt as habit to maintain interest in learning.
Set reading Goal: It is most common technique to increase the ability of the reading habit by
students that can help to increase their vocabulary, communications skills and understanding
(Nyström, and et.al., 2018). If student set a target to read books and materials by setting target
like 10 pages in a day that can increase the efficiency to learn the things and to increase ability in
reading and writing skills that assist to remain focus on the set target. Setting target goal is the
first step that is used by every student to increase their ability in reading and writing. It becomes
habit after sometimes and increased reading efficiency of student.
Utilize several sources: Reading ability can also be increase through using various resources for
reading and learning that help to gain more skills in various forms. The various sources which
can be used by students are Articles, Blogs, Novels, Newspaper etc. where students gained
knowledge and improve their reading skills in many formats that is from basic ton professional

language which is used in Corporate level. However, new words can be leaned through various
sources which help to increase ability and efficiency for personal and professional development
of students (Martinez-Rodrigo, and et.al., 2017).
Hence, reading ability of students can be increased through by various ways that need to
be implemented and followed on regular basis. The reading ability is an important part of life as
it appear in daily routine of students till becoming professionals. Through reading ability it
brings confidence and focused in a particular task or work to complete it with full efficiency.
Students reading ability can be enhanced with the help of their tutor or professor with mould
student in a way to get focused and improve their reading ability by following simple strategies.
Suggestion regarding improving quality on student written projects.
To improve quality of student written project, students need to focus and develop skills
with time to time. The reading and writing skills are most important skills for every student for
preparing projects. These skills include written skills which shows that students had prepared
project with appropriate with correct format and material include. This is very basic and initial
skills to have in every student for their work. These skills can be improved through practise of
writing, reading to different blogs and articles. The correct format of every project should be
carefully prepared and written to make correct and effective project.
Searching skills is also very important for project and for student to write appropriate
material through searching. This skill also helps to prepare the accurate projects on the given
topic. The reliable and authentic data is very important for a preparing a project. Searching skills
is very basic skills that need to be developed with time and for authentic data sources. This also
shows quality of project given by students (Bonnes, and et.al., 2017). On the other, and work
management is also important for student to manage their quality work according to deadline of
project. Submission of project before time is very important for every student and shows
discipline in work and nature of student. Whereas, time management is another important skills
that need be managed by student which improve their discipline in life towards their work and
increase the efficiency in performance. Time management is very important in student life to
manage all stuff related to personal and professional life. It also helps to create balance life
towards their work and personal life. It also improves quality of work in project as it complete
with proper time management (Ayitey, and Baiden, 2020).

However, presentation skills is one of the most important skills that need to develop by
students for presenting project with confidence. Presenting project in front of group and class is
difficult thing. It needs more confidence and smartness to present own project in front of other
students. These skills need to be developed by student to bring confidence and personality
development that develop interest in project made by student. It helps to face challenges during
presenting work and attentiveness to overcome that challenges. Through proper presentation,
quality of project can be measure by every student and professor and can motivate others to
make better project and present. Students can also follow some of the methods that improve
quality through improving in reading process. This model help student to focus and develop
reading and writing ability. The main model are:
Top down model: This model state the philosophy that brain and reader are centre point of
understanding and succeeding. It helps student to gain experience of reading and assist reader to
read, decode and make sentence of text. Top down model apply reader previous knowledge to
relate with text and link with new information recovered in text in state to understand it
(Saepudin, 2018). The reader do not read each word in text, but they focus to determine
succeeding word. Reader try to find the meaning of word or phrase. These model not focus on
format and decode but read that make sense of them.
Bottom up Model: It is different method that focus on direct message of format, include
identifying of letter, pattern to recognize them. From there student begin there text and write
words. Students can become familiar with spelling pattern and read text, sentence or paragraphs.
Students read text or paragraphs before understand it. Bottom up model uses format as its
midpoint, believing readers first process and realize sounds in speech and move towards
understanding of letters, after then words and longer sentences. It builds comprehensive skills as
they grow as reader.
Interactive Models: This model is the combination of both model I.e. bottoms up and top down
model. Students interact with both format and text. Usually teachers used interactive models and
use both instruction methods believe on format and text, believing that each is necessary for
understanding. This model shows the most effective process of develop the skills (Hamdani,
2020).
However, this model can be used by student to develop reading skills that led to develop
in writing skills. These skills can improve skills and brings confidence in student. This model

assist students to develop personal and professional skills that help in better understanding and
effective communication in student life. Usually Interactive model is used which cover both the
model and had more effective towards the project. To understand better other models like stage
model theory, recursive-cognitive process model and conversational models can also be
preferred to use and to develop the quality of writing in student projects. It also improves in
better communication, understanding level and confidence among student to present project in
front of group of people.
This report concludes that students can increase their skills and develop through applying
various strategies that need to be followed. These strategies help in proper communication,
understanding thinks properly and brings confidence that help in future growth and development.
Some of the strategies that are need to be followed is Annotated and High spot text, Practise
Problem solving, Reading in Parts, Utilize several sources and other that need to be managed and
learn for their future growth. However, there are some models which are also used to develop
reading skills that enhance quality of writing in students projects. This strategy can be followed
and implement in real life by proper utilizing these models.
