INTRODUCTION The individual report of study skills for higher education is a statement for preparation of happenings, findings, observation and recommendation for students who are appearing for higher educational studies(Gupta, Goul, and Dinter, 2015). This policy is introduced to enhance the level of education among young and teenager. Also, to provide education to students who belong to lower income group. The individual report will highlight about the importance of foundation year course. Report will also cover key challenges face by foundation year students and ways to overcome them will be explained in the report to increase adaptability in regular students of universities. The conclusion will also be drawn for the key points which will highlight under this report. MAIN BODY Importance of Foundation year for the students in wide participation background. The foundation year is basic year of learning for students who want to get entry into university degree course and did not posses for enough qualification. The foundation year provides basic overview and knowledge of the subject in course degree to opt through the students (The Challenges Facing UK Higher Education,2019). The subjects which are included in foundation year course is business management, social science, sport related subjects and biological science which are made available to course(Tomblin, Walker, and Moeller, 2015). Tutors and expert provides depth knowledge and basics of subject and to improve the learning skill and vocational ability of students. Thus, they can complete the course degree without complications. The foundation year course also offers knowledge in regard to subject of students. This improves learning skills and vocational ability of students. So, that they get eligible to qualify to pursue degree after this foundation year course(Thomas, Salem,and Kern,eds. 2016). The change in perception of employees which is related to competency in course degree and also make capable enough through enhancing knowledge and skills. This creates mindset among students to attain successful completion of foundation year to provide the competitive advantage in course of higher education. The foundation year acts as supporting environment and component which students do not able to complete their education in early age to some problem and also some students have gaps in completing their higher education(Millard, Hughes, and Chen, eds. 2016). are enabled to acquire basic understanding and provide aid to them in initiating a fresh beginning for higher education. The competent and confident students pursue their higher degree of education(Springer,Arenas,and Harrison, 2016).This enhances the learning ability as compared to regular students in universities. This course is linked with higher degree education course and for this expert tutors are hired by institutions to enhance the qualitative experience of students. The tutors provide motivation and support to students which gives them subject understanding in detail(Millard, Hughes,and Chen, eds. 2016). Also, their learning ability is improved by these expert tutors. The tutors majorly concentrate on the key improvement areas of students and provide guidance them along with set of action for the implementation for the change(Ulubey, Goosen, and Van Wyk, 2018). The foundation course enable to increase the knowledge of students in particular subject of interest. Career opportunities and goals regarding the future is also highlighted during education programme. The feeling of shyness and awkward factor among students of high age group to be with teenagers or low aged students and pursue this foundation course distracts these students from study and did not boost confidence among them(Thomas, Salem,and Kern,eds. 2016). The foundation year is able to remove this perception and also helps the students to boost confidence among them as they prefer to pursue higher education. The most population of Bedforshire university above the age of 21 provides an opportunity to get mix with the people and pursue their course(Tadie, Pott, and Wolff, 2018). The foundation year course develops flow positivity and helps students to keep all negative aspects kept aside. The subjects are more concentrated on work and their learning as well as presentation skill that is required in eligibility criteria in degree course. The foundation year is very much crucial for students while wide preparation in universities(Kassab, Al - Shafei, and Otoom, 2015). The improvement in skills of learning and knowledge related to subject and enhance the growth opportunities. Lack of confidence and fear vanish off among students and the students feels eligible regarding the higher education. The challenges face by foundation year students for getting the higher education. The students pursuing the higher education in UK face different challenge in undergoing different degree course. The major challenges that are face by the students of foundation year are related to selection of subject which is suitable for their career(Ulubey, Goosen, and Van Wyk, 3

Students are indulged in part - time jobs and do not able to manage their expenses of higher educational along with basic living(Kassab, Al - Shafei, and Otoom,2015). The higher education in UK is increasing but the students face a lot of issue for providing the fund for their course which plays a big hindrance towards their education and career. The students expectations increases with the change in time, and they prefer those courses which enhance their personality and helps them in building their career. Also, they want to attain good earning for managing their life style(Anders, and Rossbach, Mc Creery, 2015). The most students in UK pursue courses which face financial issue in order to cope up with the educational requirement. The students need to struggle a lot for getting seat in the course they want to pursue, and they need to undertake various exams for admissions in institutes. Another problem face by students money which they pay to desired course they have enrolled themselves. The students do not get satisfies by the system of education and the course they prevailed in as they have paid fee which is beyond their mind set(Anders, and Rossbach, Mc Creery, 2015). Language barrier is another main challenge face by the students. Those students who have come from different origin of the world have different background as well as language. Understanding the language and get familiar with it takes time by students, and they did not able to perform their best in order to build their career. The students also face issue in relation to the timing of course. The course in which they pursue is under higher education foundation years along with part - time jobs(Ulubey, Goosen, and Van Wyk, 2018). Many student face difficulty with the timing of classes matching with their job. The job hours and time of classes clashes. The students face difficulty in coping up with classes and job properly. Study skills to overcome the challenges face by foundation year students. The above discussion was about challenges face by foundation year students that hinders their careers and hampers their course they prevail(Gupta, Goul, and Dinter, 2015). The need of measures is observed there and some strategies to overcome these measures in foundation year course(Kassab, Al - Shafei, and Otoom,2015). Some strategies as well as approaches will be identified to overcome the challenges face by foundation year students. They are as follows : Knowledge of language -The students of foundation year course must have proper 4
language knowledge. The reason behind this is the language is the main barrier observed by students in order to study abroad(Thomas, Salem,and Kern,eds. 2016). To overcome this challenge, the students have proper knowledge of common language in which they need to interact in future time. Thus, students able to understand their lectures for the foundation course work. Time management -It is a main strategy in which foundation year students is able to manage time to do more work in specified time. The time management is a process or an activity in which a person properly and efficiently plans things in advance(Millard, Hughes, and Chen, eds. 2016). Also, the proper exercise plans things in order to keep in mind deadline of the work. The work is done in a proper time frame and will be accomplished effectively and efficiently. Stress level of student also decreases with proper time management (Study skills for students, 2018). Help of internet-The way in which foundation year student face challenge in higher studies can be overcome by usage of internet while studying. The internet is a huge pool of knowledge in which students can get any type of knowledge at any time(Springer, Arenas, and Harrison, 2016). The students can also learn from online lessons available to enhance their knowledge. Another use of interest is the student can also communicate for their troubles any time on the internet. Enhance skill of reading- The study skills provide aid to foundation year students to have a deep understanding about topic in which they are facing challenge. These skills help students in setting their career and can also assist them in success(Tadie, Pott, and Wolff, 2018). The use of diagrams while learningin foundation course helps students to revise quacking and understand it for longer time. Develop strategies for learning -The students manage time for study and undertake activitieswhichhealstheirmoodandmotivatesthem.Theconcentrationandstrategy formulation helps students to attain success and growth. The proper studying techniques along with course will help students of foundation year course just like higher students course (Tomblin, Walker, and Moeller, 2015). Thus, they able to manage their time and be in line with their course helps the students in overcoming their challenge of learning. Notes and bibliographies- The students prepare notes while attending lecture in hard format copy or electronic format helps them in learning and comprehending in time of exams. As 5
the quick revision during exam is necessary for students to enhance their career and get good score in exams. Also, the proper reference and bibliographies must be adopted by foundation students which help them in their further studies(Gupta, Goul, and Dinter, 2015). In addition to this, the foundation year students must develop their skills of writing by proper use of grammar as well as spelling. This crucial element plays an important role in improvement of students writing skills and also presentable in time of examination. Conclusion drawn from the above key points The above report is presented is summarized in understanding of wide participation in UK and Europe. The report was stated about importance of foundation year course for wide participation for students. The report also covered the challenges the students face during the course and their classes due to part - time jobs and language barrier. The report was also presented about benefits of foundation year course for students and how they can enhance their career and boost their income by choosing this course. Not only career but by foundation course the students also able to enhance their knowledge, experience, ability and confidence. The foundation year course in universities offers numerous benefits to students. The report was also highlighted different challenges face by students in duration of financial year. Common challenge are financial requirement and language barrier. The report was explained about strategies to overcome these challenges which impact the students' ability, mind set and confidence. The importance of study skills was determined under strategies to overcome this challenge and to improve the ability of students which have suffered from these challenges.
