Reflective Essay
The university course that I opted for was always my dream to pursue. With the
need for creativity I was always ready to push myself. The module was new to me, and I
got to realize it was not something I was prepared for. Communication skills was
required as one of the most required skills for many projects and assignment, and as a
requirement for employability (Shum, and et.al, 2017). Initially groups assignments were
given to us in which I also had a major part allotted. When I wanted some changes,
communication to my team members I was not able to do so. That lack of
communication created even more problems for me and my team further in terms of
coordination. We had to give ourselves enough time to understand the assignment and
the work we were allotted, but we couldn't complete it as planned. The module also
pushed my Information technology skills in which I did not have to face any big problem,
and my creativity and knowledge only grew.
Before I was given the module confidence was pretty strong in me, I wanted to
grow my knowledge and polish my skills, but the module had me taken a back.
Realization hit me that I would have to work hard or I would fail in achieving all the goals
and expectations I had with myself before joining the university. During the first project I
felt nervous to work with new people and couldn't speak about what I wanted to do and
how I wanted to do the project. Lots of my ideas for the assignment were also not taken
in consideration due to lack of speaking and conveying skills (Ullmann, 2017). I also lost
my confidence after that and few other assignments that were in groups made me
nervous, hence, I couldn't perform as per my ability. This whole incidents made me
disappointed in myself, yet also motivated me to improve. I worked harder on myself
and my skills and knowledge while following the module. Looking back to that time, I
feel like that was essential for my personal growth and kept me grounded.
The thing that went good for me was my never giving up attitude toward my life.
Moreover, the people who stood beside me and guided me to improve were also the
reason I could still work with my best ability and improve. I also focused on my skills of
information technology, management, public speaking, critical-thinking skills,
adaptability and also the theoretical knowledge from the module. This contributed to my
personality and professional work ethic. Even after I decided to work on myself with full

information technology, management, public speaking, critical-thinking skills,
adaptability and also the theoretical knowledge from the module. This contributed to my
personality and professional work ethic. Even after I decided to work on myself with full
of motivation, there were times things didn't go so well, I still faced situation where my
confidence would degrade and I lose hope for any improvement, this affected my other
skills and my university work. Yet the surrounding people, my classmates,
acquaintances, family and faculty helped me to push myself off-limit to go as planned
and guided me with any occurred problem. Affirmation from within also helped me to
believe in myself, work as per my ability and achieve those goals.
During this module I realized my strengths when I was working alone on the
assignments, where I was standing in terms of creativity and knowledge and how I
could grow if my confidence was stronger than it was in the present, I could grow my
self-confidence and improve intrapersonal communication before interpersonal and
group. This decision worked best for me, I gave myself time to adjust and with each
step I tried to upgrade the skills. I spent my time in library, reading books according to
module as well as self-help, fictions and biographies. I also worked on my writing skills
and tried to build an ability to have both written and verbal communication improvement.
To explore the weaknesses I had that created threat to my improvement I did a self
SWOT analysis which helped me work on specific areas, so I could grab the upcoming
opportunities. I think I couldn't comprehend the situation at first because I was not
prepared for anything except my vision for the module, hence the whole incident
happened. The knowledge I got during the lectures and the knowledge that talked about
communication skills helped me understand what would work for me, I could work on
myself because I lacked at certain areas which made me work on myself from the
beginning and I could grow so much.
If I conclude whole experience, I learned many things about myself and the
module. I could grow and personal as well as professional person. Working on
communication skills is important in every type work (Heron, and Corradini, 2020). I was
able to create a harmonious environment and even lead a team in one assignment. The
trust of people in me and my creativity also restored which made me understand the
value of self-appreciation and confidence. My leadership and teamwork skills also
improved due to communication and overall I was able to learn that only theoretical
knowledge was not enough for me to strive in this field and there is much more to it
which I have yet to conquer. I have yet to learn everything about the module and
confidence would degrade and I lose hope for any improvement, this affected my other
skills and my university work. Yet the surrounding people, my classmates,
