Summary Statement
These are the competency Units and Elements. These elements must be addressed in the Summary Statement
(see Section C). If you are applying for assessment as a Professional Engineer, you will need to download this
page, complete it and lodge it with your application.
Competency Element A brief summary of how you have
applied the element
Paragraph number in the
career episode(s) where
the element is addressed
PE1 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL BASE
PE1.1 Comprehensive, theory-based
understanding of the underpinning
natural and physical sciences and the
engineering fundamentals applicable to
the engineering discipline
1. I spent a lot of time to study deeply in
order to understand about the scope of
our work.
2. Normally starting stage of the project,
I studied carefully about the terms of
work scope with the tender drawing and
contract documents.
3. I started my project with the
documentation study and learn the
overall project scope of work
CE 1.3
CE 2.4
CE 3.4
PE1.2 Conceptual understanding of the
mathematics, numerical analysis,
statistics and computer and
information sciences which underpin
the engineering discipline
1. At the initial stage of the project, I plan
my work meticulously to ensure that I
am able to complete it within the
deadline given. The project management
software was utilized, and this has
helped me to complete the project in
time.
2. For terminal 4 Changi Airport project
required synchronization to a power grid.
During this process, I learnt about the
new electrical circuit drawing. I also
attended a training, to learn how to
operate the generator of the
synchronization controller
3. Tuas cable tunnel project used a new
system that could test a fuel leak
through a hydro carbon leak detector
CE 1.4
CE 2.2, CE 2.5
CE 3.6
PE1.3 In-depth understanding of
specialist bodies of knowledge within
the engineering discipline
1. During our design stage I calculated
the air flow rate according to the engine
and size of the canopy.
2. I involved in the radiographic testing
to make sure tested according to the
Specifications
3. First time I used this hydrocarbon leak
sensor. It was quite interesting during
our testing because it will differentiate
the water and the hydrocarbon

substances.
PE1.4 Discernment of knowledge
development and research directions
within the engineering discipline
1. I am an ambitious in learning new
technologies to improve the efficiency of
the project
2. I understood the electrical and
mechanical design from the technical
specification
3. I had taken proactive measures to get
the qualified suppliers to ensure they
supplied good standard of products
CE 1.4
CE 2.4
CE 3.6
PE1.5 Knowledge of contextual factors
impacting the engineering discipline
1. Time delays were calculated earlier, so
there was no delay on fabrication of our
generators and fuel storage tanks.
2. Manpower is planned in accordance to
the project time frame. Sufficient
manpower decreased the time needed
to make delivery. The material and
quality of our works are well maintained
too.
3. It was passed with zero defects,
achieved by conducting the engineering
checks internally.
CE 1.5, CE 1.15
CE 2.9, CE 2.15
CE 3.14, CE 3.16
PE1.6 Understanding of the scope,
principles, norms, accountabilities and
bounds of contemporary engineering
practice in the specific discipline
1. During the factory acceptance test,
our generator system complies with the
Singapore standard SS535:2007 code of
practice of installation, operation,
maintenance, performance, construction
requirements of mains failure standby
generator systems.
2. Underground tanks are complied with
Singapore standard SS 532:2007 code of
practice for the storage of flammable
liquids and BS 2594:1975 specification
for carbon steel welded horizontal
cylindrical storage tanks
3. First time I used this hydrocarbon leak
sensor. It was quite interesting during
our testing because it will differentiate
the water and the hydrocarbon
substances
CE 1.8, CE 1.17
CE 2.13, CE 2.16
CE 3.14, CE 3.16, CE 3.19
PE2 ENGINEERING APPLICATION ABILITY
PE2.1 Application of established
engineering methods to complex
engineering problem solving
1. I faced a major problem on getting the
drawing approval due to the changes in
the architectural drawing. Time delays
were calculated earlier, so there was no
delay on fabrication of our generators
and fuel storage tanks.
2. During the delivery we are accounted
the few major things in an account, the
major was height limit of the entrance of
