Introduction The Project explains the concept of Tracheostomy and its clinical care. It analyzes the review of reliable sources of literature to collect the related data. It explains the application of Benner’s Model in helping the nurses to plan for tracheostomy care. It involves discussion about the relevance of topic for Nursing students It explains the role of multidisciplinary team in care of tracheostomy patients.
Tracheostomy Tracheostomy is a clinical procedure to make a surgical opening in the neck to reach trachea (Crosbie, Cairney & Calder, 2014). It is preferred in medical conditions where ventilators are used for longer time or the airway is narrowed down or blocked (Berney, Wasserfallen & Grant, 2014). The purpose of this report is to illustrate the principles involved in the post operative care of patients with tracheostomy.
