INTRODUCTION
Supply chain management involves activities of flowing of goods and services which
starts from raw materials to distribute the finished products to the end customer. And the process
of flowing goods involves a chain of network which has been created in which supplies moves
the products to those organizations that have to make a deal with customers directly (Alicke, K.
N. U. T., Hoberg, K. and Rachor, J. Ü. R. G.E. N., 2019). Supply chain management is
effectively practiced and maintains the balance between demand and supply it allows the
company to be more productive and competitive over the competitions in their industry. The
report is focused on the company Tesco in the context of supply chain management. Tesco is an
international company in nature which is established in London and have the specialization of
consumer goods. Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen. These companies have a large
business operations throughout the world and it has categorized their business into different
retailing categories such as furniture, toys, books, clothes, financial services and many more.

Supply Chain Management and its functions.
Supply chain management is based on planning oriented process which involves control
over the movement of goods, services, information or cost and then supply it to the final
customer in a rapid manner (Bateh, D., 2019). Supply chain management is emphasize on the
synchronization and collaboration between varieties of channel distributors that can be suppliers,
intermediaries, customers or third party service provider. Suppliers relationship are taken into
account with an intention to optimally plan, design, and control the delivery of goods, cash flow
or information flow. Likewise, it makes the Tesco group to recall activities and this provides a
reason why a short product life cycle and increase in demand of consumer are taken into account.
In supply chain management, the process includes every section of business operations which
includes technologies, logistics, purchasing or information. It integrates manufacturing facilities,
finances materials, suppliers, customers, dealers, into a unified system. Supply chain
management if running smoothly then it helps to achieve competitiveness in the market.
Functions of Supply Chain Management:- Customer Relationship Management: Constant focus on the final customer’s demand
to encounter the increasing wants and desires of customers and ensures the high degree of
suppleness.
Elasticity and demand oriented creation: Continual reduction in cost and maximum
utilization of materials and resources at all steps in the process of value chain.
Coordination and collaboration between demand and supply: It helps to rise
competencies and expertise with rigid maximization in the supply chain.
