INTRODUCTIONAny life event occurred with an individual can have a great impact on his mental as wellas physical health. This makes a person thinks over that event again and again. Moreover, ittakes a long time to recover from it and make a person able to live a normal life. But, for certaintime period, the way of living life of a person changes (Tracy, 2015). It takes a lot of time for aperson to overcome from any life event. Usually, life events occur naturally. In this report,dementia and bereavement are taken as the examples of life event. This report shows about how an individual is socially and physically impacted whilesuffering from dementia and bereavement. It shows that how different groups respond toindividual needs and life events. An analysis has been made on social and health care facilitiesavailable for individuals in life events. Also, the way organisational policies and proceduressupport person in overcoming life event are shown. Furthermore, recommendations are made forimproving the health and social care support to individuals. TASK 11.1 Impact of significant life events on individualsA person suffering from different life events affects his mental and physical health in adifferent way (Oswald, Proto and Sgroi, 2015). It depends upon the way a person is able to reactand deal with it. Individuals start feeling lonely and his behaviour is completely changed. Hestops communicating with others and prefer to remain alone. There are three impacts onindividuals, that is, social, physical and psychological as described below: Social impact- The social impact of life event is that people start avoiding interacting withsociety. People suffering from dementia develop a feeling of grief. It changes their behaviour andthey get angry as well as frustrated. In bereavement, individuals stop talking with others and theydo not share their problems. Also, friends become an important part of their life as well as theyact differently with others. Physical impact- It is related to the health of a person. Dementia people find it difficult toswallow food and drink water (Zessin,, Dickhäuser,. and Garbade, , 2015). Moreover, they arenot able to sleep properly. However, they do not take proper diet that makes their muscles weak.1

Also, they feel tired most of the time and their blood pressure increases along with neck and backpain which makes person weak. Psychological impact- It is related to mental health of a person. In both the life events, personshave a great impact on their mind. They are not able to understand the situation and reacts withsarcasm. Also, they lose confidence in themselves and do not take interest in any of theactivities. Things done by them are often not proper. People do not easily trust others. Notgetting enough sleep affects their immune system as well. (Wahlbeck, 2015) .Rita might have stopped talking to her friends. She might not feelcomfortable sitting and talking with her friends. Also, she didn't have share herthoughts and might get angry on little things. 1.2 Possible group responses to significant life events that occur to one of its members In order to overcome a life event, friends and relatives play an important role in helpingand supporting the persons. These people support them every time and always listen to solvetheir problems (.Creech and et al., 2014) In case of bereavement, relatives and friends understandthe person. They motivate them to overcome the life event. A patient may be affected in apositive or negative way. Also, social network of people provides support by fulfilling theirneeds. Patients may feel guilty by showing negative behaviour towards their peers. Apart from this, friends and family members also get frustrated. It is because; they are Moreover, emotional and social support are given by the family and society. Furthermore, there are various methods by which groups help individuals to support andovercome the situation. Associates- They are group of people who create association to provide help to people. Theyhelp person by supporting the family members to get involved in life events. Communal media- It refers to the social media through which person can share his views andideas. It helps them in getting relief by sharing their feelings. For example- when they sharethoughts and then people provide help to them (Billett,. Dymock,. and Choy,, 2016).Websites- Internet can be a very useful tool in providing social support. There are differentwebsites through which useful information can be gained to overcome life events. It shows theways or methods that can be used. 2
