INTRODUCTIONThe purpose of the report is to develop an understanding about supporting use ofmedication in social care setting. Project will have focus on identifying the present policies aslegislations which regulates the handling of medicine in social care setting. Another objective ofstudy is to assist individual in developing safer professional practices. It is required by serviceprovider to create their own practices so that medicines are administered more safely and drugerrors are reduced. This report will also support person in developing the understanding aboutway of doing work with other people in different social care setting in order to deliver quality aswell as effective service to people in the society.TASK 1P1 Summarising the current policies and legislation that governs the handling of medication insocial care settingThere are many laws that regulate or govern the ways' medicine can be prescribeddispensed and administered. Some laws are:Medicine Act 1968-This law is concerned with licensing, supply, sales and manufacture ofmedicines. It dictates that medicines can be disposed by a pharmacist after they have beenprescribed by a medical practitioner or expert or by qualified person such as a doctor, dentist orvet. In some cases, healthcare professionals who has undergone special training can alsoprescribe medicine.Misuse Drugs Act 1971-This regulation or norm has been formulated by the medical authority orgovernment for controlling utilisation of potentially harmful medicines. It describes the way theharmful medicines or drugs should be stored. Misuse Drugs Act 1971, provides the guidelinewhich defines the specific time period up to which specific medicine can be consumed afterwhich drugs get expired.Misuse of drug regulation 2001-This regulation or legislation is designed for controlling orpreventing the non-medical use of certain drugs, particularly that can lead to dependency.Health Act-This act provides several monitoring arrangement for controlling the usage of certainmedicine.Misuse of Drugs Safe Custody Regulations 2007-This legislation is related to handling, storingand keeping records about controlled drugs (Dubel and et.al., 2014)2
