There are many texts which have been published in written form and later translated into
oral forms. The action of changing a written text to an oral text directly implies that oral texts are
much easier to understand compared to written texts. In the given oral and written texts, I find
the information given orally more understandable even though the content of the two texts is
similar. While reading the text, I had to go back and forth the text to confirm the previous
meaning and try linking it with the following meaning. While listening to the oral text, I did not
have to go back to grasp the message. Generally, I found the oral text easier to relate with than
the written one. To me the oral text appears more natural than the written text. It feels just like a
normal exchange with a friend or listening to instructions from another person. The spoken
nature makes it sound more ordinary and hence, easier to follow and comprehend.
There are several reasons as to why I found the spoken text to be more effective in
passing the information. In the oral text, the speaker gives a detailed version of the story. He
does not only seek to pass the message, but also strive to ensure that it is understood. This
explains why the oral text is not just read from the written passage but rather paraphrased into a
simpler text. The speaker also uses various non-verbal skills which do not feature in the written
work. For example, the speaker uses varied tones to express different feelings. Generally, the
