1. How the American Revolution changed the role of American women .How role remained the
same.
The American Revolution changed the role of American women during the war whereby women
were to participate in different roles. The American Revolution was characterized by "total war"
whereby all the elements of the society including the women participated (Cowan, 78).The
American Revolution, therefore, broke down the traditional practices and barriers thus changing
the perception on female roles in the society since a large number of women had declared their
interest in public affairs within the USA government. Women raised money for war and also
collected scrap metal used to make bullets for soldiers.
The role of women remained the same after America got independence. During the war women
fully participated in supporting men but after independence women were limited to enjoy the
advantages of new opportunities to elevate their position in society.
2. Why articles of federation set aside. How the Federal Constitution in 1787 improved articles.
Whether Daniels Shays could have approved the new Federal Constitution.
The reasons why the articles of the federation were set aside was that the articles had envisioned
a permanent confederation on the states thus granting congress little power to control finance in
states. The article failed to limit the power of the president, the court law and central government

power. Through this limitation, Congress and the states incurred huge debts during the
Revolutionary War. The articles were set aside as the Congress was not able to encourage
commerce and economic development.
By 1787 the Congress was unable to protect the economic activities and the new Federation
Constitution decided to revise and replace the articles. The constitution granted power to
Congress over the foreign and domestic commerce in states. This provided new powers for
Congress to collect money from state treasuries. A strong central government was formed to levy
taxes and pay back foreign debts incurred.
Based on Daniels Shays the articles of federations had a lot of weaknesses. Daniel Shays as a
captain of Revolutionary war led groups which were to stop the injustices associated with
political elites whose interest was to control the East Coast. Daniel had articulated weaknesses
associated with the articles and therefore the articles could not have been approved in what so
ever way.
3. How the US constitution manifest principles of republican and democratic forms of
government. How does it deviate from principles?
The US constitution manifest principles of democratic and republic in many ways. Both wanted
the federal government to contain all states and have own army and their own source of revenue.
On another hand the two movements wanted people in the USA to have more power than the
federal government and this was done in allowing voting rights, the right to induce constitution
amendments through referendums and the right to recall leaders (Cowan, 148).In addition, the
United States Constitution manifest principles for both movements through the way
representatives are chosen and elected by people within the states.

The US constitution deviates from principles of republican and democratic in different ways. The
constitution tends to limit the power of majority especially when there is increased framework
whereby majority promotes competent with the national government and when republican and
democratic goals go contrary to set fundamental rights as indicated in the constitution. Also, the
constitution deviates from voting rights if the candidates do not comply with policies and
regulations outlined in the US constitution.
4. Three most important parts of Hamilton's economic plan and how elements of the plan can
still be found in our current economic system.
The financial plan given by Hamilton consisted of three things.
The first was central government and its assumption on how to settle debts. This section aimed at
increasing national unity and also conserving the legitimacy of the government.
The second part of the plan was the formation of the common bank for the US. The bank was to
ensure the states are more stable by providing financial support. Also, through the bank, the
states were to have a common currency.
The third part of the plan was to include and protectionist policy. The policy was to be
administered by the central government whereby the government was to subsidize the local
manufacturers and imposing heavy tariffs on imports thus stimulating American history.
Some of the elements of the plan found in our daily economic system include;
System of interconnected backs which are in the current economic system.
Reports on manufacturers.
Presence of tariffs and incentives promoting the manufactures in the current economy.

5. What the Alien and Sedition Acts were. Would a southern planter have supported or opposed
these Acts? An Irish immigrant in Boston working on the wharves? Thomas Jefferson? Speculate
on what the opinion of each would be given what I have learned in chapter 8.
Alien and Sedition Acts are internal security laws which were passed by the US Congress. The
laws were to restrict the aliens' foreigners as well as making the immigrants not to vote. The laws
ensured immigrant were to reside for more than five years before becoming eligible to vote but
later the law raised the years up to 14 (Pula,34).
The southern planter supported the acts because clearly, the federalists in the US saw foreigners
as the threat to American security. The policies made it harder for an immigrant to be part of the
US. The Acts also allowed the president to imprison and deport citizens were deemed dangerous.
The approval of these policies, therefore, will allow the US to stay in peace.
From the Irish immigrant in Boston working in wharves, I have learned how America's
ambivalence has worked towards the immigrants. The Irish were the first group to experience
hatred in America. Some of the Irish who lived in Boston were working as domestic servants and
also dug ditches. Most of the editorials at this time wrote describing the Irish group as stupid and
violet.

Jefferson called his election "the revolution of 1800" because it was the first time in America
when power moved from one party to another. As a president, Jefferson promised to rule his
people in better ways allowing them to take part in the decision-making process.
The revolution at this time was characterized by peace and stability. There were no strikes no
riots at the reign on Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson at this time ruled by limiting the powers and
following what was specified in the constitution. The reign of Jefferson promoted peace thus
making him be re-elected in 1804 elections to serve in the government.
