1.1 BACKGROUND OF STUDY
"Health is wealth," they claim. This adds a lot of value to our lives and health is the most
valuable asset to everyone and it helps us to do a lot of things. Healthy living has a long-term
effect. Good health entails not only the absence of illness in the human body, but also the
totality of a person's physical, emotional, social, and moral well-being. I'd like to illustrate
three important factors that we must remember to sustain a healthier weight and lifestyle:
exercise, balanced diet and body mass index (BMI).

Exercise is described as any physical activity that improves or preserves physical fitness as well
as general health and wellness. We may engage in a variety of physical exercises, such as
running, swimming, and cycling. Following that, a stable lifestyle requires a well-balanced diet.
This does not imply that you should exclude any foods from your diet or restrict your daily
calorie intake. A full diet necessitates the use of the majority of foods in each meal. Dairy goods,
fruits, and vegetables are all essential food additives that will keep the body full while also
keeping it healthy. Meanwhile, Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated by dividing a person's
weight in kilograms by the square of their height in meters. BMI can be used to classify people
into weight categories such as underweight, healthy weight, overweight, and obese.

Most people nowadays acknowledge that they still have a lack of understanding when it comes
to taking care of their bodies' welfare. Previous National Health and Morbidity Surveys (NHMSs)
conducted in 2011 and 2015 revealed a growing pattern of overweight and obesity prevalence
among Malaysian adults aged 18 and older. Studies by Ghee LK. A review of adult obesity
research in Malaysia. Med J Malaysia. 2016; 71:1, World Health Organization. Obesity and
overweight are fact sheets, and trials conducted by National Health and Morbidity Surveys
(NHMSs) have shown mixed results, but there is not enough evidence yet about how to
preserve healthy health.

1.2 OBJECTIVE OF STUDY

This study aims to determine the level of exercise done by UiTM students, the type of exercise
that UiTM students are likely to do, how often they exercise, the amount of time spent per
exercising, the purpose why they exercise, and the BMI of UiTM students.

This topic was identified as being important to UiTM students in preserving their body's good
health because healthy living has a long-term impact.

2.1.1 POPULATION
A population is a group of people from whom a random sample is taken for a study. The
population of this sample was University Mara Technology Machang students (UiTM). There
were 60 students from the Faculty of Accountancy who were in their second year.

2.1.2 SAMPLE

A sample is a subset of the population that contains the features of the population. The sample
is representative of the population as a whole and should not be biased against any particular
trait. The cumulative number of students from the Faculty of Accountancy who participated in
this survey is 60. From those numbers, only 20 students were chosen as a sample for this
study.

2.1.3 SAMPLING TECHNIQUE

In a statistical study, sampling methods refer to how we select members from the population to
be in the study. We used systematic sampling technique which is a random starting point is
selected and then every number of member in the population is selected. The place where the
population has to be homogeneous and sampling frame has to be random, current but not
necessarily complete.

For example, in Uitm Machang , a researcher needs to call out numbers such as 1-60 (1-n) of
the population to determine the level of exercise that uitm students usually do. The students
with a random number will be decided by the researcher. For instance, 20 out of 60 students
would be called out to be chosen. It is a non-stressful selection process for both the researcher
and the students. There’s an equal opportunity for every member of a population to be selected
using this sampling technique.

List number of students from 1- 60.

Find k = N/n = 60/20 = 3

Select r =2

Choose sample 2, 5 ,8 ,11 ,14 ,17 ,20 ,23 ,26, 29 ,32 ,33, 41 ,44 ,47,50 ,53,56,59
