Introduction
Australia officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a sovereign country comprising the
mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands
(Malaspinas et al., 2016). The University admission as well as the college admission is
considered the procedure through which students enter tertiary
education at universities and colleges (Deygers & Malone, 2019). The systems or the procedure
of taking admission in colleges varies generally from country to country, whereas also from
institution to institution. In many of the countries, potential university students apply for
admission during their last year of high school or community college (Fajnzylber et al., 2019).
However, in some countries, there are independent associations as well as government
community or agencies to centralize the administration of standardized admission exams and the
processing of applications. Australia uses the system of Federal government for the roles as well
as responsibility for providing the education or admission in the country in the Technical as well
as further colleges of Education (Abdelhamid et al., 2017). The degrees of the under graduation
at the professional universities for the students of home country students, are in the area of the
government of state and territory. In all the states apart from Tasmania adopts the central
processing divisions for providing the admission to the students in the degrees or the course of
under graduation for Australian people (Briggs et al., 2015). The same processing unit is also for
all the permanent residents in Australia, therefore application for all the international students as
well as students, who are Postgraduates, are frequently accept through all the individual
professional universities (Nicholas et al., 2015). In this report, the previous attempts to regulate
the entry standards in the professional University in Australia in comparison to other countries
are analyzed. In this, sustainability implications of lower entry standards to the engineering and
information technology professions are also discussed.
Policies for Entry standards in professional universities
The eligibility requirements and admission procedures for international students may differ from
one higher education or VET (vocation education and training) provider to another. The
eligibility requirements as well as the procedure of education admission in Australia will prove

to be useful as a general guideline to all international students who wish to obtain either a VET
qualification or a higher education qualification in Australia. For the Australian engineering or
the information technology professions, the policies of professional Universities are that the
student should completed the 3-year graduation system for entry into most postgraduate courses.
For instance, bachelor degree like degree of B.Eng, B.Tech however, some of professional
universities need sixteen years of formal education, which mean that another 4-year degree
course after the graduation (Naylor & James, 2016). The previous attempts made to regulate
the entry standards to professional university degrees in Australia. The Australian government
for the Engineering and information technology profession manages the scheme of Higher
Education contribution. This scheme is the extension as well as somewhat same with the
program of higher education loan, it is for all the students, who all are undergraduate and the
admission in the professional universities is hardly narrowed by the potential students' ability to
pay up-front (Dinham, 2013). The Australian states adopt the system as well as the procedure
that awards the receiver with an Australian tertiary admission rank as well as policy of
International Baccalaureate to the student, who meet the minimum necessities according to the
requirements of professional universities, according to the states. The previous attempts show
that for the entrance in course of engineering as well as information technology, the students
should receive maximum rank that is 99.95% than that of their community group (Barrie,
2012). The different states in Australia has different policies for taking the admissions in the
engineering as well as information technology professional like in the state of New south Wales
the centers of Universities Admissions process the application for providing the admission in the
engineering courses in all the institutions , which are participating. The state also calculates the
tertiary rank of the student. The policy was also to provide an entrance test before taking
admission in the universities, which is the test of special level entrance; the state government
takes the initiatives for processing the applications for the schemes of Educational entrance for
some fair funds. It reduces the fees of professional universities this result in increase in the
percentage of students that is 24.3% of domestic students and 33.6% of the international student
(Cavanagh et al., 2015).
