INTRODUCTION
Tourism is defined as habit of travelling for pleasure and business meeting so their
activities be grow day by day. The aim of any organisation is to fill the customers demand and
attain the business To run a business there is need to have good knowledge and skills which can
be used to grow and maintain the profitability. In other words, tourism encompasses through
inbound and outbound tourism process which attracts the large number of customers and attain
the business goals (Agyeiwaah, 2020). To understand about tourism Brook Green UK DMC has
been selected that is tourism company that provides tour and travel facility to customers and
make them happy. The selected destination is London that is the capital of England and UK,
having various beautiful visiting places that attracts large number of customers. This report
covers main features of sustainable and responsible tourism, importance of tourism development
planning for sustainability, principles of sustainable and responsible tourism management, and
sustainable and responsible tourism management that has involved in variety of destination.

P1 Explain how the concept of
sustainable and responsible
tourism has evolved
Tourism and travelling is considered as important part of human being that is
contributing in the economy of different country. As environment is changing continuously,
needs and wants of people towards tourism also changing, where it is important for tourism
industry to bring the changes in their activities and providing services. The aim of organisation is
to understand the needs of their customers and offer the variety of tourism services that can help
to maintain a sustainable tourism development. Such as London is selected destination where is
number of visiting places are available that make pleasure to tourists. The concept of
sustainability has introduced in the early 20th century which involves important factors such as
economic development, social development and environmental protection that ate needed to
consider in running any business (Bulin, 2016).
The sustainable tourism covers responsibility, alternative, eco- tourism, environmentally
friend tourism, minimum impacts, and soft tourism that uses to regulate the business in relation

to tourism. In other words, sustainable tourism development is the procedure of meeting the
needs of present without compromising the ability of future generation for the purpose of
meeting their needs. The Brook Green UK DMC is tourism organisation that make plans for
travelling at London which is best place to spend their precious. For making it responsible and
sustainable management assures their guests as:
 Make proper use of environmental resources by maintaining ecological process
that will help to conserve natural heritage and biodiversity at London destination
(Camilleri, 2019).
 To respect the socio-cultural authenticity of host communities that helps to built
cultural heritage and traditional values which supports to make responsible and
sustainable tourism
 Moreover, sustainable tourism is ensuring long term operations, by providing
socio-economic benefits to all stakeholders which are distributed by involving
employment opportunities and generating income for economy.

In tourism environment, it is important for organisation that their customers be happy and
give some positive feedback which helps to make the leading organisation in tourism industry.
The tourism organisation are using different promotional activities which helps customers to
increase their awareness and make the decision of selecting best company for taking the
enjoyment of travelling. For example, UNWTO is the leading tourism organisation that is
playing the essential role in travel and tourism industry as taking charge of promotion of
responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism. This organisation understand the
needs of their guest and promotes the value of tourism as driver of economic growth. The
another role of UNWTO is to support in advancing knowledge and formulate tourism policies
worldwide. This is larger size organisation in tourism industry that generates market knowledge,
foster tourism education and training, sustainable tourism policies and instrument that helps to
make the right decision (Chan and Tay, 2016).

The mission of UNWTO is to serve the larger countries and make the strong economy by
generating market knowledge about tourism and safe travelling. To develop the effective tool for
assisting the technical projects in more than 100 countries all over the world that can help to
make more strong organisation.
Function and mission of leading global organisation in promotion of sustainable and
responsible tourism
 United Nations World Tourism Organization takes charge of promotion of responsible
and sustainable tourism
 Playing a role in promoting the potential to tourism in fighting poverty and achieving the
sustainable development (Fang, 2020).
 To focus on economic growth and development by formulating travelling policies that
needs to follow by all tourism organisation.
 Paying special attention on Small Islands Developing States and focus on tourism
education and training.
 Provide leadership and quality education which helps to make pleasure and encourage
them to make again decision.
 Developing statistical measurement, ethics and social responsibility.

P3 Explore the purpose and principles of tourism development and planning to minimise the
adverse affects of tourism
Tourism is the activity of spending precious time of people who wants to see different
destination and places. Many challenges are arises in tourism industry such as taxation,
globalization, security, safety and marketing which needs to be solve for the purpose of making
sustainable tourism development. Such as London is the great destination which is preferring by
people to visit and spending their time. This attracts the large number of customers and
encourage them to make advance booking.
The purposes of tourism development

Economic gain: The main purpose of tourism development is economic gain. Tourism is
considered as largest industry that contributes in economy by paying taxes, visiting places and
developing the country that helps to earn the money (Han, Lee and Kim, 2018).
Creating employment: As population is increasing day by day where people who are
well educated, unemployment that create the difficulties for country. Tourism development is the
main activity that can be uses by people for getting the employment in such field that helps to
maintain a living standard.
Foreign currency: As tourism organisation is planning to arrange the trip and travelling
services at different destination which helps to increase the foreign currency earnings. For
example, Book Green UK DMC is a tourism industry that make a trip in different destination
involving foreign country which supports to earn the foreign currency. This helps to increase the
economical condition of a country.
Creating a regional and national identity: The another purpose of tourism
development is to create the regional and national identity by attracting the number of people at
domestic level and national level. Moreover, government make the investment in the
infrastructure of countries that led to an increase in visitors numbers and spending.
The principles of tourism development
Uses resources sustainably: To use resources properly such as natural, social and
cultural in the tourism development that helps to make long term business sense (Higgins-
Desbiolles, 2020).
Integrating tourism in to planning: Tourism development is important for countries as
it generate the employment. This is integrated in to national and local strategic planning
framework that helps to know the environmental impacts and increases the long term viability of
tourism.
Maintaining biodiversity: The aim of tourism development is to maintain and
promoting natural, social and cultural diversity which is important for development and create
resilient base organisation.
Supporting local economies: Tourism is supporting the wide range of local economic
activities that helps to take environmental cost and values in local economy. Tourism
development is also uses for supporting the local economy by selecting best destination. Such as
London destination is stated by UK's tourism industry that helps to make happy to customers.

Planning to minimise the adverse effects of tourism
In tourism industry there is many problems arises while providing the travelling services.
To reduce the adverse effects of tourism there is need to build different theme of hotels near by
tourism hots pot, to reduce the prices of travelling tickets which can help medium class of people
to enjoy their holidays. To reduce the political issues in tourism there is need of government
supports who make investment for proper infrastructure and building the places of visiting that
can help to reduce the negative impacts. To reduce the health related incidents government
should formulate the planning and strategies which can help to take the corrective measures and
increase the number of customers. The WTO should be regularly posts updates on global
situation on its websites so that people can get information. Moreover, pre planning is required
for occurring natural disaster that can assures guests that they will be safe and healthy (Huddart
and Stott, 2020).

problems providing specific tourism examples
Tourism development is needed for people as it helps to influence the people and manage
the activities which can help to improve the economical condition. The tourism development
process and planning is defined below:
Identifying the needs of travelling: When people have free time and having any special
occasion then decide to spend their precious time. This is the first stage in which people knows
that how they spend their time (Jonkutė and Staniškis, 2016).
Travel preparation: This is another stage which uses by people to find out the best
location and industry for booking travels. For instance, people are using hearsay, internet
research, destination reports and recommendation by fried that can help to be prepare for
travelling. For example, some people are showing their interest in London destination by
studying about its visiting place.
Decision to travel: In this, people need to make the decision for travel as where they
wants to go and how they can attain the enjoyment. For example, Book Green UK DMC have
been selected by people to make the decision as they have selected London out of Costa Rica and
London.

phenomenological experience, visits of sites & attractions, photography/ video and organised
tours that can help to increase the number of customers (Kimaro and Saarinen, 2019).
Return Journey: This process is related to returning where customers make decision
regarding back to home. The chosen destination such as London provide some good experience
to tourists which can help to encourage large number of customers.
Digestion: This is another process where people who have visited the different places
shared their memories, create diaries and weblogs that make a pleasure travelling for their
customers (Mathew and Kuriakose, 2017).
Challenges and problems by providing specific examples
Political challenges: This is main problem which can be arise any time while providing
different travelling services. Changes in government of UK can be a challenge for Book Green
organisation to operate their travelling activities in other country. This also create the issue in
relation to travel advisories at regional level.
Terrorism: Some countries and states are facing the terrorist attacks that create the
problem in tourism and planning process. Such as Terrorism attack in London which is capital of
UK can face the issue in relation to tourism that affected the people negatively (PURNOMO,
IDRIS and KURNIAWAN, 2020).
Health related challenges: Sometimes customers does not ready to accept the changing
environment of country because of this they faces the health issues which impacted the tourism
industry negatively. For example, Pandemic has recently occurred in whole world including
London and Costa Rica where all businesses have been stopped for certain time that become a
challenge for tourism.

Tourism activity is related to attraction which needs to be introduced by travelling
industry in order to encourage people to make the decision of booking a destination and get
enjoy. If organization is successful to provide the pleasure journey then it will be an opportunity

for them to make again buying decision. Different types of impacts in relation to tourism
industry has been defined below:
Economical: Tourism industry is the largest industry in the world. It is important for
organisation to establish the tourism industry that can help to make the happy clients. The
positive impacts in economical perspective is increases employment opportunities and contribute
in attaining the foreign currency. On the other side, negative impacts is incremental in
infrastructure cost which is require in improving airport, visiting places and roads. The example
is to develop the third runway at London Heathrow an estimation cost £18.6billion that affected
the profitability negatively (Scheyvens and Biddulph, 2018).
Social: This factor is related to society and living habits of people in particular country
and state that affected the tourism activity. The positive impact of social factor is preserving the
local culture as in London many destination make efforts to preserve and protect the local culture
by filling the customers demand and it also many commercial businesses. The negative impacts
is occurrence of natural incident that might be impacted negatively on tourism industry.
Cultural: Tourism in relation to culture is the act of travellers visiting particular
destination for the purpose of experience and learn about particular culture. In context to selected
destination such as London affected the tourism positively as this attracts number of customers
by arranging the location as per their requirements such as attending events and festivals, visiting
museums and providing local food and drinks. The negative impacts is changing in trend and
value of country that affected the tourism attraction adversely.
Environmental: Tourism in relation to environment that involves pollution, health
related incidents and terrorism attacks that affected the tourism industry negatively. For instance,
London is selected destination where occurrence of natural incident can create the difficulty for
tourism organisation.

attraction meet stakeholder requirements and expectation
In tourism industry, it is important for organisation to understand the needs and interest
of people in relation to visiting the place which can help to deliver the best services and increases
the profitability. If organisation is able to provide the high level of tourism experience to their
customers then it will be considered as opportunity as customers will make again buying
decisions. For example, Book Green UK is selected organisation that has selected the London

destination for the purpose of making travelling plans and spending the precious time of their
guest. In this, various principles of sustainability has been implemented that can help to manage
the all activities and performance. The chosen tourism business is implemented the principle of
use of resources sustainability wherein it identify the natural and economical resources then uses
them for making plans for travel and providing various services that helps to meet with
stakeholder requirements. By using the principle of integrating tourism in to planning,
organisation formulate the plans in relation to tourism that can help to operate the business and
increase the productivity (Spenceley, 2019).
Moreover, business activities of tourism meets with stakeholders needs by reducing the
over consumption and wastages which make happy people to get the enjoyment of other places.
Whenever, customers decides to go travel then they requires to select a best destination and hotel
which can provide them best services. So that, Book Green UK has tie up with many hotels that
suggested by them and also provided discounts which helps to meet the expectations. Other than
this, government and shareholders have great contribution in tourism industry as they investment
the amount in infrastructure and build simple route that increases the performance and
profitability.
Task 4
P7 Evaluate how sustainability is being developed and managed in range of tourist destination
worldwide
The development of sustainable in tourism is important as it increases the interest of
people to select again same destination and hotel to spend their time. This also provide the good
experience and high level of opportunity changes to bring the improvement in economy.
Sustainability has been developed by selected organisation such as London that has various
places to visits which attracts the number of customers and increase the performance. In this,
management focuses on economical, social and cultural factors then provide the tourism facility
accordingly. In economical aspects, the travel agent and organisation identify the income group
of people and suggest them for different places that make them happy and satisfied. Moreover,
government supports the tourist destination by making it more beautiful and comfortable that
attracts the large number of customers (Steele, Dredge and Scherrer, 2017).

The another destination is Costa Rica that is capital of American country managing
sustainable tourism development by beauty and peacefully places. In this destination having
coastlines on both the Caribbean and the Pacific is a vast draw for visitors. This fill the
stakeholders requirement by developing good culture and reducing negative impacts of tourist.
Costa Rica is perfect destination for developing and managing sustainable destination that make
feel to people good by creating natural resources like snorkelling, bird watching, natural walks
and day guest activities.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that tourism is uses to introduce new comers to
parts in point of interest in particular country. This promotes the country and helps to raise
money by people spending money to site see, buy food and purchasing gifts. Tourism
development is important as it increases job opportunities and make happy to different people.
The principle of tourism development is uses to resources, integration in to planning,
maintaining biodiversity and arranging the activities.
