Waste hierarchy can be referred to as the tool which is mainly used in order to evaluate the
processes that can protect environment together with energy consumption and resources from the
most favourable to the least favourable action. The hierarchy mainly establishes the preferred
program priorities which is based on the concept of sustainability. In order to be sustainable, the
waste management may not be only solved with the technical solution of end of pipe as well as
the integrated approach is essential (Vaccari, Powers, and 2019).
Waste hierarchy pyramid can be defined as the set of five or six priorities for efficient usage
of the resources. At the top of the pyramid, there is waste prevention and it is considered as the
preferred option. Then the subsequent options include the reduce which means minimisation,
reuse, then recycle, then recovery of energy and the finally the step of safe disposal which is at
the bottom of pyramid. Beginning from top, the priorities provided by this model; includes the
following-
Prevention: This step is on the top most position of the pyramid which involves reducing
