INTRODUCTION
Sustainable innovation refers to the making of intentional changes to the company's
products and services in order to generate the long term environmental and social benefits by
creating the economic profits for the firm. It basically meets the requirements of present
generations without compromising the needs of generations of future(Björklund and Forslund.,
2018). In the present report, according to the case bio bean firm is taken into consideration. It is
basically the British firm, which is involved into the development of eco- friendly fuel from
coffee waste to power London buses. The present report will cover discussion about the
importance of sustainable innovation with support of real life example of bio-bean. In addition to
this, the report will cover analysis about the current lifestyle and also write the reflective
document that in which manner comply with the sustainability ideals.

Sustainable innovation: Sustainability basically refers to the ability to support or
maintain the process continuously over the period of time. It is a kind of societal goal which has
three dimension which includes economic, environmental and social dimension. It is about
fulfilling their requirements from natural resources without compromising the generations of
future and also the ability to fulfil their requirements from the resources at natural level.
Importance of sustainable innovation: Sustainable innovation is important because it
basically meet the requirements of present generations without compromising the needs of future
generations. Innovation is considered as the important factor for measuring the success of an
organisation due to positive resultant changes in a firm's real process, product or service which
exceeds the impact of previous achievements(Delmas and Pekovic., 2018). At the organisational
level of bio bean firm, a clear direction is required for employees to recognise that in which
manner sustainability fits into the goals of a company. There is also another requirement which is
the resource availability for sustainability focused innovation. For raising the support and
visibility for such innovations, expertise, sufficient budget and corporate backing is required into
positive manner.

It has been observed that sustainability is also strongly influences the innovation which
is both in real products, employees mindset and company's culture as well. At the initial phase,
sustainability is mainly responsible for driving the technological and organisational innovation in
order to top line and bottom returns. It also ensures the environment friendly processes where
firms focuses on the maximisation of their inputs which leads to the cost savings. It results into
enabling the exploration of other ideas such as creating new businesses or better products to
capture the market share(Frigelg and et.al., 2019). At the firm level of bio bean, sustainable
innovation basically encourages companies in order to adopt the different thinking which enables
the employees in order to approach the business issue into different manner which is either
through brainstorming the different subjects or thinking into out of box manner about the
existing subjects. The most important thing is that sustainable innovation basically enables the
employees to see the entire value chain. So sustainable innovation is very important in order to
achieve out of box results.
In context to Bio-bean firm, it has been observed that they are planning to develop fuel
from the waste of coffee to power London buses. With this kind of approach of firm it has been
observed that firm is positively contributes into environmental context which is an innovation
that benefits the firm for their further development and growth as well. This kind of fuel not only
impacts the environment into positiver terms but act as sustainable factor for the result oriented
action from the firm perspective (Gottardo and et.al., 2021).It has been observed that
sustainability is beneficial from the organisational and environmental point of view as well. As
sustainable innovation is into the positive context but it sometimes need high research and
development costs. The technology at green level act as in the form of immature manner and
sometimes have to face technical issues as well which is not beneficial for further growth and
development of the firm.
In context to Bio-bean firm, when they have used the waste of coffee as the fuel for
London buses then they have to bear high implementation costs due to which it has been
observed that it is not beneficial for the firm but act as the expensive factor in order to innovate
themselves into positive manner.

When firm makes any changes then steps of working has been reduced due to which it
results into job losses and there are people who becomes job less due to technological advantage
(Ketata and et.al., 2015). While there are certain firms who may go out of business when they
approach towards the sustainable innovation and also it has been observed that there are certain
sophisticated regulatory framework which has been required. So in the overall manner, it has
been observed that sustainable innovation act as the advantageous factor for the organisation but
up to a certain level it act as the negative factor for their further growth and development. As
sustainable innovation gives the benefit to stand competitively into the market but also act as the
strong firm into this competitive environment. As it contributes into the context of reducing the
pollution level and also gives encouragement to the people to work harder for achieving their
goals and objectives into positive manner.
It also contribute into context of saving the energy into result oriented form and also lead
towards the effective recycling as well. At the organisational or firm level, it supports in terms of
generating new business opportunities which strengthens the brand of firm into positive manner.
It also contribute into the context of tax advantages due to which firms have further opportunities
for investment into different areas for their further development and growth as well. So
sustainable innovation is very important for the result oriented growth of the firm with the right
kind of approach.

According to the current period of time the lifestyle of people is of such kind where they
majorly focuses on money and profit maximisation as well. It has been observed that businesses
also focuses on profit making due to which sometimes they forget about the sustainability factor
and sometimes crosses the limits of following ethical rules and regulations as well(Lubberink
and et.al., 2017). There are certain businesses and employees sometimes do the work into
unethical manner due to which it is impossible to control their actions because their greed
towards money has increased at a larger scale.

So this is the current lifestyle which has been followed by the individuals and businesses
due to which they forget about the environmental factor and also does not think into deeper
manner at the societal level. At the organisation there are certain issues which are very complex,
dynamic and radical in terms of nature as well. It is important to keep the sustainability s an ideal
which is a kind of ideal where the individual never reaches but also act as the necessary one as
well(Niesten and et.al., 2017). For achieving the sustainability ideals at the firm level of Bio-
bean where I have to take certain actions which is into the context of benefits of the firm. I can
take actions towards making every procedure very sustainable due to which it not benefits the
organisation and also saves the environment as well. I have to make whole procedure of working
very sustainable so that firm can easily work with green technology and does not impact the
environment into negative terms. I have to also make sure that every equipment and machine
which has been installed at the organisational level should be eco-friendly so that it reduces
minimum level of pollution. I have to also make sure that to use those raw materials which can
be easily recycled which does not impact the environment into negative terms.
I have to also ensure that every employee of the firm should follow all rules and
regulations of sustainability so that a procedure can be maintained into result oriented form with
the positive kind of approach. I need to make sure that packaging should be done with natural
products so that it does not impact the environment into negative terms. So its very important
that to understand the ideals of sustainability into deeper manner so that organisation can
accordingly work for it and take actions for it into result oriented form. That's why for an
organisation need to make sure that at least if they can't reach to the higher level of sustainability
so on the other hand they can take actions for it in order to make changes at the organisational or
firm level. This kind of action leads the organisation or firm towards the better future growth and
development of the organisation. So in this manner, it complies about the sustainability ideals as
well.
CONCLUSION
The above stated report concludes that sustainable innovation is very important for
further growth and development of the organisation. It has been concluded that sustainable
innovation has their own significance at the firm or organisational level.

It has been determined that without innovation an organisation or firm can't give
something unique into the market and also can't stand competitively into the market. The most
important thing when innovation is into the sustainable manner then it gives competitive
advantage to stand strongly into the market. It is important for employees of an organisation to
understand the concept of sustainability into deeper manner so that organisation takes action and
steps accordingly for it. It is important to understand the modern working of businesses where
their major focus is not on the sustainability factor due to which they can't give something
unique and different into this international market. So sustainable innovation is very important
for the positive growth and development of an organisation.
