Introduction
Sustainability activities are used by every company to promote business internationally
and to make favorable environment internationally. The main motive of this task is to evaluate
and discuss the sustainability issues that is being faced by Plastic collective. It also explains the
business activities and operations of Plastic collective and further discusses that how the
company is maximizing its profitability and outcomes. The significance and issues of
sustainability have been drawn in the task. The company uses innovative sustainability strategies,
practices and theories to mitigate these sustainability issues internationally. Along with this, the
functions that are performed by Plastic collective also have been discussed in the task briefly. At
the end, some suggestions to maintain sustainability have been elucidated in the task. More detail
of this paper has been discussed below.
Background and significance of the Plastic collective
The plastic collective aims to radically minimize waste plastic in remote societies, and
empower people to seek new and innovative economies for their communities and provide state
of the art methods, equipment, instrument and training for those who need it. The plastic
collective has great and unique opportunities to minimize plastic waste. The main mission of the
firm is to empower societies by transforming the plastic waste globally. It is noted that plastic
waste is becoming an epidemic globally, with approx 370 million people on 4000 islands in the
Asia Pacific region (Plasticcollective, 2018). It has been found that there are three pillars of
Plastic collective solutions including new and innovative designs, empower people with
knowledge and generate with reliable and practical methods and machinery. Louise started
Plastic collective in 2016 to build and generate the Shruder-waste plastics, educational training
packages and extrusion machine for remote societies. The aim of the firm is to eliminate the
plastics leaking into the environment.
To attain this, the organization has built educational programs and campaigns with tools,
methods, training and equipment that would transform waste plastic into resource valuable

resources rendering income for societies. Louise has built a mobile recycling machine and an
educational campaign monitored on the chemistry of plastics and how to convert waste into most
valuable items in the global market. Plastic collective further introduced the plastic neutral
certification for companies or businesses where they may offset the ample of plastic utilize
through direct sponsorship of a Shruder program. Plastic collective goal is to render the Shruder
program to approx 4000 remote and isolated societies where waste collection is mainly non-
existent and convert the plastic waste economy (Plasticcollective, 2018).
In today’s modern world, it is needed for every company to make unique and attractive
products and services in the global market. Plastic collective is working towards the saving of
people’s life by minimizing the waste material globally. It further helps in reducing and
preventing the fossil fuels along with this, it saves and protects the energy in the competitive
market. Plastic collective helps in providing safe and secure life to people by minimizing waste
material and preventing the pollution across the globe. It is stated that Plastic collective further
provides various employment opportunities and works towards the improvement of environment
(Plasticcollective, 2018).
Sustainability related issues
In today’s modern world, ample of issues related to sustainability are being entertained by Plastic
collective that have been discussed below.
Community health and safety issue: One of the biggest issues that being faced by the firm is
health and safety issue. Due to burning of plastics, tremendous health and safety issues are being
dealt by the company while functioning. Along with this, the dumping of plastics encourages
unsanitary conditions and maximized issues and risks of human consumption being ingested by
fish and the ingested by people, specifically white bait-a general protein source in Asian
countries (Plasticcollective, 2018).
Collection and infrastructure issue: Due to expensive and ineffective transport costs and lack
of waste management and infrastructure issues may affect the sustainability of Plastic collective
company. It is one of the major sustainability issues that also affect the profitability and returns
of the company adversely (Conserveenergyfuture, 2018).

Deforestation issue: Deforestation has long posed a big threat and challenge to earth and further
may influence the sustainability of the environment adversely. Due to deforestation, pollution
has also been increased on the earth.
Negative impact of tourism: It has been found that the aesthetic and visual effects from the
plastic pollution on beaches and in waterways are harmful to tourism that may affect the tourism
of the countries (Lessmann & Rauschmayer, 2016).
Transitioning to a low carbon society: The climate change and globalization are the concerns
of human practices which may put adverse impact on the sustainability of Plastic collective.
When the environment changes and heat increases, it may cause a number of issues and begin to
hamper the world in which people live (Ibrahim & Jaafar, 2016).

significant and unique to attain sustainability and to uplift profitability in the market. The
recycling helps in increasing economic security by drumming domestic source of materials.
Along with this, it also prevents pollution by eliminating and minimizing the need to collect raw

Reduce wastage strategy: Plastic collective can use reduce waste strategy to detect and prevent

Thus, the company must use organic food, vegetarian dishes, fresh snacks and meals. It will
further help to reduce sustainability issues and the company can attain rivals benefits

nine areas of sustainable practices including climate protection, clean energy, green building,
transportation, sustainable, recycling, sustainable food service and sustainable water systems.
Plastic collective presents its sustainability goals and strategy during its annual shareholder
meeting (Willard & Hitchcock, 2009). Stakeholders are promoted and encouraged to suggest
strategies and goals that the firm can present during the meeting. The company uses strategies
that would help to reduce adverse impact of wastage in the global market. Plastic waste may
direct impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of people. Many people diagnose due to plastic
waste as it also may impact on the mental ability of the people adversely. The company protects
the natural resources to keep clean and positive environment. It also focuses on the green house
gas emissions by generating innovative and optimum resources. It makes strategies for energy
and creating healthy food for the people in the competitive market. The primary motive of the
firm is to maintain adequate and sufficient resources and minimizes the environmental footprint.

the various resources and reduces the wastage in the global market. The firm puts ample of
efforts to attract top talent by generating a diverse and comprehensive company culture. The

issues in the environment. It is summarized that the company entail various functions such as
leading, organizing, controlling and planning for operating and enhancing the business activities

It is recommended that Plastic collective should focus on the various sustainability
activities and operations to handle the wastages globally. The firm further must concentrate on

approaches, strategies must be implemented within the organization in order to run the business
successfully. Innovative infrastructure shall be used to increase awareness among the workers
internationally. Optimum utilization of resources must be done and renewable resources shall be
used to preserve energy. Along with this, innovative and unique technology and resources shall
be implemented to conduct business in a hassle free manner. Along with this, the firm should
focus on the leadership to assist and direct the workers towards the attainment of sustainability
objectives and goals.
