SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT 1
The following report is a reflection of my personal views over sustainability and its importance
within an organization. In my opinion, sustainability is an important factor, which should be
followed by everyone. Presently, I am working as an associate in ‘iPayroll Solution, New
Zealand’. All my views, which I have expressed below, are in regards to the following
organization.
What is your association with sustainability? Why that one and not another?
According to me, sustainability is a concept, which states that the utilization of resources should
be performed in a manner where present needs will be fulfilled without compromising the ability
of progeny or the future generation in meeting their needs. Therefore, every organization should
follow the three basic pillars of sustainability i.e. economic, environmental and social. All these
three pillars are extremely important for maintaining a balance in the environment. The ipayroll
is an organization where the use of paper is far more than other organizations. Therefore, I would
suggest that organization should use the electronic devices in order to maintain the data of
employees and firm. Keeping the things managed with the help of sustainability is one of the
best way to keep the environment clean and green apart this there is no other concept which will
be helpful in maintain environmental health (Bell & Morse, 2012).
How do you speak about sustainability in class, in your organization, in your private life?
If I would be given an opportunity to speak about the concept of sustainability at any of the place
including my class, in iPayroll or in my personal life, I would surely look forward to the ways,
which will help the people to understand the worth of resources. People should know how
valuable these resources are and they should be equally saved & properly used so that they can
be used by the future generations. I will try to demonstrate value of resources by acknowledging
people to the real life photos where it is depicted that the resources are not utilized at optimum
level. Another way of taking people more close to the issue is showing the presentation of how
limited resources we have got and how badly we are using them (Dresner, 2012).
Do you feel hopeful or hopeless when you engage in discussions about environmental or
social problems in the world?

Engagement in discussions regarding social or environmental problems of the world makes me
hopeful. As during office hours, we can engage ourselves in planting activities that will be
beneficial for the ecological system. In organization, we can also implement the use of
biodegradable papers and pencils that will support in maintaining the green environment. Being a
social person, I have numerous ideas and suggestions to improve the social and environmental
problems of the world. Additionally, during school and university, I have worked in numerous
campaigns and camps to address these problems. Moreover, social problems can be addressed by
implementation of social welfare programs in New Zealand. During such sessions, I have also
observed that many workers are not interested in such activities. Therefore, through sessions and
conferences, we can motivate the other workers as well (DuBois & Dubois, 2012).
What words, sentences, ideas, opinions and knowledge do you contribute to the small
group and class/work debates? Based on these examples, how effective are you in
influencing others towards sustainability?
In order to provoke people and try to indulge more amounts of individuals to the sustainable
activities key terms like environmental degradation, recycling, resource management, optimum
utilization of resources etc. should be used by me. These terms are beneficiary for increasing
consciousness among people regarding the ecology and environment (Glover, Champion, &
Daniels, 2014).
For the well-being of society, sustainability is very important as it leads to environmental, social
and economic development. It helps in managing the use of resources. In my opinion the best
idea for using the resources in a justified manner is by recycling them. There are 3 terms that are
used together in order to maintain environment and surroundings safe i.e. reuse, reduce and
recycle. These three terms propounds a golden idea of using the resources again until they are
not used completely. People should reduce over utilization of resources for instance water,
electricity, food products all these items should be conserved and must be used in a justified way.
This will help in saving the resources for the upcoming generations. Lastly, people can also use
the idea of recycling for saving the environment from degradation (Glover, Champion, &
Daniels, 2014).
