INTRODUCTION The Business organisation is an institution where innovation and investment has been taken place to sustain growth. In general words, sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their neds and demand. It is quite challenging for the business to equally manage the availability of all the resources (Azzahidi, Bengrich and Omrane, 2020). As well all know, that resources are limited and scarcity of it put obligation over the organisation to effectively manage their resources by avoiding its wastage. The dynamic and uncertain business environment can be deal with effective plans and sustainable use of resources to achieve the organisational goal. This report will cover the concept of sustainable development and its impact on gaining advantage for organisation. Further, it will discuss the attributes and capabilities that are relevant for business success in a complex business environment. TASK A Drawing on relevant studies, critically discuss the concept of sustainability and its impact on the long-term competitive advantagesfor organisations. Use examples to illustrate your discussion. The emergence of globalisation and industrialization of industries in the International market has stressed out the government regarding the environment protection and innovative use of resources. It is important for an organisation to use effective methods and plans to minimise the wastage by efficient use of resources. This would helps them to earn high profit without wasting the resources for future generation. The scarcity of resources puts compulsory obligation over the organisation to use the cost effective technique where environment would be less affected. The industrial effluent and use ofharmful chemicals has drasticallyaffected the environment and also endanger the human lives. In the year 1987, theUnited Nations Brundtland Commission has given the wider meaning to the sustainable development. The commission was specially remarked the need of the humans and its demand among the future generations. They were raised the concern for the upcoming generation and availability of limited resources such as water , quality of air etc. (Büyüközkan, Karabulut and Mukul, 2018). The commission was aimed to
promote the quality of life and fair distribution of resources among the individuals. There are various International bodies that has identified the necessity of sustainable development and its relevancy within an organisation. An organisation is required to use the advanced technology that will effectively utilise the resources and maintains ecological balance in the environment. TheIntergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was founded in 1988and later Rio de Janeiro in 1992were the important summit that take place to avoid global warming and addresses the crucial issue of climate change. The sustain use of resources in an organisation highlight the goring capacity among the stakeholders and helps to build brand value in the market. Advantages of prioritising sustainability in an organisation are discussed below: It enhances the operational efficiency and lower down the cost. It improves access of capital and promotes investment. Attract, inspire and retain employees at workplace. Increase in regulatory and non financial reporting legal compliances. It is corporate responsibility of an organisation to serve better service and environment to the society so that their interest remain protected (Citaristi,2022). The Coca- Cola company is a best example of sustainability that are used by them while manufacturing a product. This approach helps them to gain long term advantage in the market and establish brand value in the market. TASK B Critically discuss attributes and capabilities that are necessary for business success in a complex and changing environment. There are three essential attributes of sustainability that are significant for the social, economic and environmental purpose. It is necessary for human welfare, growth of an organisation and protection of the environment. Further, sustainability helps in dealing with the dynamic and complex business environment. The uncertain business environment demand the effective plans and policies that are relevant for the survival of an organisation. It provides protection to the following: Environmental protection: Environmentand climate are the source of living ans survival for humans (de Villiers, Kuruppu and Dissanayake, 2021). Economic Development:Sustainability is also crucial for the purpose of gaining long term profit in the market. The primary objective of every organisation is to maximise profit and it can be possible through cost effective method of production. Social Development:A society is the social responsibility of an organisation to assure them quality product and services to satisfy their need and demand (Tomislav, 2018). An organisation perform various ethical and social responsibility towards the society so that they can earn higher profit in the market. It includes, fair treatment with employees, reasonable price of product, use of effective method to protect environment etc. CONCLUSION From this above report, it has ben concluded that the sustainability helps the businesses to contribute in economic growth. It brings innovation and creativity in the products and attract the potentialconsumersfromtheirservices.Sustainableuseofresourcesareimportantfor maintaining the ecological balance and improving the social and living condition of the individual. The sustainable development has identified through various International summit and protocol were the climate changeand global warming were the burning issue of that time. Sustainability helps to gain competitive advantage over the other organisation ans establish brand value in the market. It reduces the overall cost of production and maximise the revenue of the organisation. However, it is the best mechanism that helps the company to gain long term advantages and dealing with the complex business environment.
