INTRODUCTIONTravel and tourism sector are one of the industries that is continuously changing andgrowing in the present time due to the several developments. This fastest and growing sectorhelps to country in increasing economic income and growth. Basically, the meaning ofsustainable tourism development is the growth of tourism industry without damagingenvironment, society and economy. Sustainable tourism provides the income and growth to thesociety and its surrounding (Buckley, 2012). The main purpose of this study is to understand thathow various approaches used for tourism planning and development. The current issue related tothe tourism development planning and recommendation for the future development of tourism inthe Qatar has been discussed. Qatar hosts around 80 sport events and also hosts over 150business conferences annually. Furthermore, features and characteristics of tourism developmentplanning at different level with references to the Qatar has been also discussed in this report. Inaddition to this, various methods available to measures tourism impact upon the Qatar andconcepts of sustainability in tourism development has been systematically discussed in thisreport. The present report provides the detail knowledge and understanding about the suitabilityin tourism development and various stages in planning regarding the same to learner.TASK 11.1 How stakeholder can beneficial from planning of tourism developmentIn the tourism industry, stakeholder plays a very significant role for improve the growth andperformance of business. It is great responsibility for management of tourism organisation tofocus on the requirement of various stakeholder and make healthy relationship with them. Theyare those people who are directly and indirectly affected by organisation actions and decisions.At the time of taking decision corporation must consider their interest in the business. Ifcorporation makes changes in existing policies, practices and strategies then it directly affectsstakeholder role and contribution (Dharma and et.al., 2012). For the Qatar tourism authority andthe world tourism organisation, main stakeholders are audience, tourists, local residents,government etc.1
They are beneficial while organisation design planning for tourism development. Thedescription of these stakeholders is discussed below-Tourists-Tourist are one of the most significant stakeholders in the tourism sector who isinterested in the development of tourism. If there is effective development in the tourismsector in the country then visitors have great opportunity to visits beautiful and developingdestinations. Tourism development cannot possible if tourism is not there and they areconsidering as a sole element for tourism sector.2
Employees- Employees are another one of the significant stakeholders in the tourism sector whoactively participates in the tourism development and its planning. They have responsibilityto carry out functions and activities of tourism and provides effective services and facilitiesto visitors so as they can visit again and again on the same destination. (Dodds and Graci,2012) Employees have another responsibility to achieve determined objective of businessentity and obey their top management. If tourisms development increases in the countrythen it provides huge opportunity to its employees for growth and profession.Government- Government helps to the tourism sector by designing some legislation andpolicies that provides protection and security to visitors, customer, employees and generalpeople in the country. While tourism sector developed in the country then it will greatbenefit for government because it is the major source for generate revenue and income ofcountry (Dredge and Jamal, 2013). With help of tourism sector, economic income andgrowth can positively increase that helps to government and the country's good will andreputation is also significantly increase.Local communities- This is another one of the significant stakeholders in the tourismdevelopment that can directly and indirectly affected by the planning in tourism. If there iseffective arrangement and condition of tourism in the country then local communities arelargely beneficial. With help of tourism sector, local communities in the country can getlarge numbers of employment opportunity (Edgell, 2013). There are several kinds ofservices and facilities provided by the tourism sector to the local communities throughwhich they can improve their living standard and they can get source of income. Generalpeople can get the source of income and employment opportunity with help of tourismsector so it can be said that this stakeholder is large largely beneficial with tourismdevelopment.The travel and tourism sector can largely affect private and public organisation by deliverseveral kinds of opportunities and facilities. There is some direct and indirect relationshipbetween the public and private organisation with tourism sector. The main objective of privateand public organisation in the tourism sector is to deliver effective facilities and services tovisitors and earn maximum profitability. In the private organisation includes hotels, resorts,restaurants, transport facilities etc. These kinds of organisation is managed and controlled by theprivate individuals (Evans, Stonehouse and Campbell, 2012). In addition to this, in the public3
sector organisation includes accommodations, governmental agencies, facilities etc. If bothpublic and private organisation get combined and form in the partnership then it can providemaximum effective facilities and services to visitors. There are various advantages anddisadvantages of the partnership of private and public organisation in the planning of tourismdevelopment. These advantages and disadvantage are discussed below-Sharing risk- In the Qatar while both organisations such as private and public mergetogether then risk regarding to business operation in the tourism sector can automaticallyreduce. They share their business risk and divide responsibility related to task, functionsand activities.Reduce cost-This is another one of the significant advantages of merge private andpublic organisation in the tourism sector. In the Qatar while private and public travel andtourism organisation merged together then overall cost of operation will automaticallydecrease. Both corporations can share expenditures and costs associated with variousactivities, functions and services.Provide opportunity to local communities- The major advantage of merge betweenpublic and private organisation is related to employment opportunity. When private andpublic organisation merge together in the tourism sector then they required to operatevarious services and facilities such as tour agents, guides, restaurants etc. The localcommunities can easily get employment opportunity by merge between private and4
