Sustainability in development of tourism is the process of fulfilling the needs
of the tourists along with enhancing the protection and survival of the
tourist destination for future. Qatar is one of the fastest developing
country which is giving more emphasis on development and
enhancement of tourist infrastructure. The tourism in the country
requires support from the government to protect and conserve the local
tourist sites with the help of local community so that in long term, it
would be able to generate more employment opportunities as well as
revenues. Furthermore, they would be able to conserve these tourist
destinations which would in turn help them to develop sustainably.

Sustainability tourism is the process of having low impact on
the natural resources and culture while keeping in mind
generation of employment s for the local community. In
sustainable tourism, the development process is focused
on the social, economical and environmental development
of a particular region. The major objective of sustainable
tourism in Qatar is to make optimal utilization of natural
resources without compromising the socio-cultural aspect
of the country and thus ensuring its long-term economic
prosperity. To justify the concept of sustainable
development in Qatar, Triple bottom line theory could be
used effectively.

Triple Bottom Line Theory
This theory focuses on the three dimensions related to the
tourism sector of the country i.e. social, economic and
environmental by providing some important concepts. While
considering the economic development of tourism in Qatar,
the main focus is on improving various economic factors
such as generation of employment, earning more revenue,
relaxation in taxes and many more. Moreover, it also focuses
on improving the economic stability of country as well as
optimal use of economic resources.

Factors causing Negative Impact on
Sustainability of Qatar Tourism
There are various factors which pose a negative impact on
the sustainable tourism industry of Qatar. These are:

All these factor might result in reduction in interest among
visitors for the country and might interrupt the
sustainable development of tourism in Qatar.

One such example is globalisation due to which the local market
is facing a stiff competition from the international market.
Due to this, they are unable to attract the tourism and in turn
are unable to provide them their valuable services and thus
resulting in generation of low revenue. Moreover, it has also
hampered the economy of the Qatar as revenue generated
from tourism is not being invested in its economy.

Sustainability Planning and its
stages
Sustainability Planning is a process which helps in
bringing improvement in the performance of the
organization in terms of social, economic and
environmental factors. It could be explained by
three factors which would then help in
determining sustainability planning for tourism
in Qatar.

First Stage of Sustainable
Planning
It focuses on fulfilling long and short term goals which are set to
enable sustainable tourism in Qatar. The next step focuses on
determining different activities to attain these goals in the
given specific time period.

Second Stage of Sustainable Planning
This stage helps in determining the major
stakeholders who are having significant impact
on the sustainable development of Qatar tourism.
The next step would be establishment of sub-
plans such as
 Environmental Plan
 Economic Plan
 Social Development Plan
After establishing sub-plans the major issues are
given due consideration so as to achieve the
sustainability in Qatar tourism.

Third Stage of Sustainable Planning
The third step provides monitoring and controlling
of the sustainable planning after which the
planning procedures are implemented after
taking required measures. After implementing
this, appropriate actions are taken to resolve
issues related to sustainability in Qatar tourism.

Conclusion
If the Qatar follows these planning steps effectively and
efficiently, it would be easy for them to create a better future
where there would be significant growth in the tourism
sector. Moreover, it would also help Qatar to imprint its
marks on the world for its economic growth as well as its
tourist sector.
