INTRODUCTION
Sustainable tourism in the tourism industry is an aspiration to minimise the negative impacts of
the business on the natural environment and thereby focusing on maximizing the positive ones.
Basically the sustainable tourism takes full accountability for its current and future business
actions by taking care of economic social and environmental impacts their by fully addressing
the needs of guests, host committee, industry and the environment itself (Higgins-Desbiolles,
2020). The sustainable tourism plays an important role in conserving the biodiversity and
conserving the local ecosystem. The present report is based on UK based travel retailer "On the
Beach group PLC. This tour operator is a specialised in providing the short and medium haul
flight plus hotel holidays in all over the Europe. The company was founded in 2004 by Simon
Cooper and is currently headquartered in Manchester, UK. The report will cover main features of
sustainable and responsible tourism. For the importance of tourism development is discussed in
planning for sustainability. The principles of sustainable and responsible tourism management
and also apply for the chosen case study. In the end sustainable and responsible tourism
management is evaluated in a variety of destinations worldwide.

P1. The concept of sustainable and responsible tourism
Sustainable tourism is the subject that define a form of tourism that focuses on conserving
the valuable resources of environment by minimising the wastage of resources. It is a concept for
the tourism industry which works on increasing the efficiency of the operations of tourism in
order to leverage the environment. It is very essential to use resources in efficient manner so that
they are optimally utilised for benefit. In tourism industry there are several organisations that
have understand the need of increasing the sustainable tourism so that they are able to provide
the best service to the upcoming future. In order to provide the benefit of the current resources to
the future generation it is very important to take care of the resources and the environment. The
world conservation strategy is been presented by the international union for the conservation of
nature and natural resources that aims to gain or accomplish sustainable development bye
conserving and protecting the natural resources (Chang, McAleer and Ramos, 2020). The main
focus behind this concept in tourism industry is reducing the negative impact of the operations

on the environment so that they are able to achieve their goals of tourism positively. Also it is
observed that you rest in the world likely to visit such places that are rich in natural beauty and
are linked to the nature in order to feel the fresh air and nature. For most of the organisations in
the tourism industry are planning to shift towards sustainable tourism green tourism which are
likely to promote and focus on optimum utilisation of the natural resources in order to save and
protect the nature and its resources. Justin set focus on infrastructure so that the environment is
protected in the best manner and no problem is occurred to the local people as well as for the
tourist to enjoy the local beauty. It is highly observed that On the Beach travel agency is
effectively working for the sustainable development by implying with the concept of sustainable
tourism. The employees and the other stakeholders of the on the beach travel agency are taking
care of the sustainable development and taking the responsibility in order to maintain the same
which is helping the local community to maximize their natural resources and minimise the
impact on the environment. Also the tourist and more aware of the organisations that prefer
sustainable tourism because it has now become the trend in the tourism industry to take care of
the environment first in order to have highest sales and development.
P2 Determine the role, function and mission of leading global organizations involved in the
promotion of sustainable and responsible tourism
It is acknowledged that all the organisations those are working at the global level supports
and promotes to bring sustainable and responsible tourism. The role functions and missions of
these global organisations are highlighted below:
Government authorities: the government authorities role to develop policies and legal and
regulatory that enables sustainability within the tourism. The policies are articulated in a way
that they can least harm the environment and also help business to achieve their profitability
while working in tourism industry the function is to act as stakeholders that it helps business to
achieve their sustainable targets. The government also provides infrastructure benefits so that
tourist is getting the best service (Rasoolimanesh and et. al., 2020). The business organisations of
the tourism industry are also supported through incentives that motivates them to work on the
path of sustainability they are given some rational taxations as part of security of cutest does
government is a global organisation that form a strong base for the success and development of

play an effective role in opting and promoting the sustainable and responsible tourism play a
major role in the development of a sustainable tourism industry these are the organisations that
provide learning and training to their employees in order to educate them regarding the benefits
and the requirement of green tourism. Thus, organisation manages their business operations in a
way that can benefit the environment and also provide the best quality service to tourist without
any harm to the nature. On the beach is one of such private travel agency that effectively follow
all the standards legal policies and ethics related to the sustainable and responsible tourism
thereby gaining an established sustainable brand image along with that the company also takes
the major advantages and benefits provided by the government in order to undertake the
sustainable project there by making sure that you are given proper safety and security and enjoy
their trip as well (Streimikiene and et. al., 2021).

The principle and purpose of tourism development in planning that are followed by on the
beach travel agency to minimise the adverse impact of tourism on environment are discussed
below:
Usage resources optimally: on the beach travel agency make sure that all the resources are used
after mainly without any wastage as natural resources are unique and scarce.
Maintaining biodiversity: the company try to maintain cultural social and cultural diversity
through their business operations in order to develop value and promote tourism development.

and planning that are several stages that are discussed below:
Introduction to system: planning is a vital part of tourism industry. Procedure of planning
enables an organisation to grow by providing different kind of conditions in the form of
outcomes. For the person who is associated with the tourism industry it is very important to
know the definition of the system.
Objective articulation: it is very important to create the objective of a business as it creates the
awareness and clarity in the mind of the employees which are involved in the planning process of

the tourism sector are visible when there are the high level of forest in comparison to the ability
of environment to cope unlimited amount of changes such as decreasing water resources is one
of the critical natural resource of the environment the tourism industry is over using the water
bodies for their personal use, for swimming pools, tourist hotels, golf courses etc. This is all
resulting into degradation of water, shortage of water supplies and there is excess wastage of
water. A noise pollution is also one of the environmental impacts of the tourism sector as the
increase of high transportation on air, railways and roads. There is increase of global warming,
photochemical pollutions, acid rains and also with the operations of hotels in tourism sector there
is increase in the carbon dioxide emissions.
Economic impact on tourism sector: it is observed that tourism industry immensely impact the

demonstrates the planning and execution of tourism in the field of tourism sustainability it is
highly recommended that sustainability principles are useful and should be initiated in the
tourism industry in order to facilitate positive impact on environment (Weaver, Tang and Zhao,
2020). The principle of sustainability implemented by the On the Beach travel agency useful in
providing quality job opportunities to the local community and also build a bridge between
communication development as well as local organisation growth. The company the
sustainability principles are the foundation that represents three key factors i.e. society, economy
and environment. Sustainability principal it is highly important for the stakeholders to make
every decision and terms of this principle and also it is essential that decisions must be accurate

It is concluded from the above report that tourism industries wide and contain several operations
that brings harmful impact over the environment. Therefore, it is very important for the industry
to turn itself into sustainable tourism in order to maximise optimal utilisation of resources of the
natural environment and to minimise the negative impact of their operations on the environment.
In order to grow effectively for the future profitability and productivity organisations in the
tourism industry as effectively accepting sustainable and green tourism plans as it is the specific
point of tourist attraction.
