INTRODUCTIONTourism industry is full of competition in this modern world and is facing variouschallenges in achieving their desired business goals and success. The concept of sustainabletourism states that when tourists visit any place for their knowledge, entertainment, shopping andother purposes then it positively impact the environment and economy of that place. Tourismdevelopment is necessary for preserving the natural resources, culture and nature of a country.The chosen organisation for this report is Travelmatters which is a travel firm based in London,UK. This report will discuss about importance of stakeholders in planning for tourismdevelopment and advantages and disadvantages of tourism planning in public and private sector.Various approaches to planning and development will also be discussed. Further, importance oftourism planning and problems of tourism development in Qatar will be demonstrated. In theend, various impact of socio cultural, economic and environmental factors on the developingcountries will be explained in this report.TASK 11.1 Discuss how stakeholders can benefit from planning of tourism developmentsStakeholders are the people or individuals who are involved in a business. These play avery essential part in the successful implementation of sustainable development plan of tourism.Tourism development planning is the process or plan for increasing the attractiveness of alocation for increasing the number of tourists in order to obtain sustainability. These stakeholdersmainly include tourists, operators, management, workers, investors, host community etc. Thesestakeholders also play a major role in achieving the objectives of Qatar in sustainabledevelopment of tourism (Benur and Bramwell, 2015). Through the Tourism planning, theinvolved stakeholders also gets the benefits to improve their profit and living standard. Thegovernment will get increased revenue and profit for the economy when more number of touristsvisits the country of Qatar. Also the sustainable planning of tourism enhances the economic,social and environmental returns for every stakeholder. Sustainable tourism planning is focusedon quality of life which is provided to the tourists. Through this, the experience of visitors canbe enhanced which will improve the quality of life of local people. Planning of sustainabletourism is also helpful for the employees of hospitality organisations as it will increase the jobopportunities in Qatar. 1

For example: The upcoming sport event World Athletics Championships 2019, FIFAWorld Cup 2022 are beneficial for the various stakeholders involved. BY organising thesegames and events, the employment for local occupants and the number of tourists in Qatar willincrease. These will surely increase the revenue of the country, host organisation, investors etc.1.2 Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of public/private sector tourism planningpartnershipsPublic and private tourism planning refers to coordination between private and publicsector for achieving the long terms goals and sustainability. Basically it is focused ondevelopment of regional areas. So, this planning perform a major role in the development oftourism sector in this developing country i.e. Qatar. There are various advantages anddisadvantages of such type of partnership planning as discussed below: AdvantagesDisadvantagesGreater efficiency can be ensured when thepublic and private sector comes in partnershipwith each other in the tourism sector.These types of partnerships increases thechances of political risks among theshareholders which leads to bureaucracy. This partnership this planning assists theQatar in effectively using its resources likeinfrastructure, natural resources, heritage andcultural sites, etc.These partnerships provides less flexibility interms of location and the nature of business asthe locations are limited where tourists areallowed.Also from the partnership of both private andpublic sector, Government can handle thesesectors effectively and these both sector willalso follow the laws. This type of relationship can be moregovernment driven due to which it can leadsto unfair relationship among the shareholders.TASK 22.1 Analyse features of tourism development planning at different levelsTourism planning is the main objective of Qatar for developing its tourism sector andheritage. This planning states the activities which are important in raising the opportunities forlocal occupant as well as to protect the environment and atmosphere with the better efforts. The2
