A. Assessment 1:
a. Knowledge Assessment
1. As an individual working in the ICT sector, you have been asked to become a member
of your organisation’s newly formed business unit ‘Green Team’. This team is
responsible for helping to introduce best sustainability practices into your workplace.
In return for your commitment you will receive resource efficiency training. Once
trained, describe what you will be expected to do.(discuss best practice approaches
relevant to own work area)
Solution: Sustainability can be described as development that fulfil the requirements
of the current generation without sacrificing the power of future generation to deal
with their requirements(Sutriadi 2018). Surveying the planet’s resources, interpreting
how the ecosystem functions and searching for livelihood within the limitation of
ecology are involved in Sustainability.
If fewer materials are used during the production of ICT equipment then it would
need less source therefore(Sowan and Tahboub 2015). Thin equipment should be used
such as smaller laptops and notebooks.
Sustainable ICT equipment is generated by using less energy. Renewable sources can
be used for implementing less energy.
Using sustainable ICT equipment is beneficial for the organization as it produces less
waste when the equipment is built, transported, used and disposed of(Dzogbede and
Afun 2015). As these equipment requires lesser resource and fewer accessories it has
been found that often these resources are disposed of without even using. The
packaging material should be made of recyclable material.

2. A business realises that it does not have a formal process in place to identify changes
to environmental / sustainability legislation and standards. What sources can it use to
locate new information about such changes and how should identified changes be
communicated to its employees? (explain environmental or sustainability legislation,
regulations and codes of practice applicable to the industry and organisation)
Solution: Environmental codes of practise for the industry are generally prepared by
the infrastructure of the industry, which advises the members of the organization or
industry to prevent environmental harm. Moreover, every member should be advised
how to cause less harm to the environment and use lesser resource(Nofadhila, Prasetio
and Sofyan 2018). Acting in accordance with an accepted code of practice is optional
but by proving one’s own compliance, anyone can defend a charge of illegal cause of
environmental harm.
Sustainability is the essential key of the success factors that required to be considered
for implementing and managing the ICT projects.
The environment laws applies to specific activities of business in the license form.
From the federal, state and local agencies of environment the approvals for
environmental licenses can be obtained.
3. Introducing sustainability initiatives into a workplace may have unintended
consequences that affect Workplace Health and Safety. Explain, with examples, why
WHS should be considered when introducing new sustainability initiatives.(discuss
and explain work health and safety (WHS) implications for new policy)
Solution: The work activities in the organization should get introduced to new
initiatives for sustainability(Rout, Paul and Panigrahi 2015). Consulting with the
employees of the ‘Green Team’ is effective to develop new initiatives, some of them
