When you have come up with a goal for a specific project or company, Swot analysis
can assist you to determine whether it’s a good idea. Through careful analysis a company can
avoid huge mistakes. This paper analyses the SWOT analysis for Boston Consulting Group.
According to Iny&OverDrive, Inc (2013) SWOT is an acronym for strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and threats. On the other hand Boston consulting group acts as an advisor on
business strategy and management. The company is unique since it acts as a strategy
consulting brand. The interior part of Boston consulting group will be addressed by looking
at strengthens and weaknesses while the exterior part of company will be addressed by
focusing on threats and opportunities. Reeves, Haanaes &Sinha (2015) states that Swot
analysis assists Boston consulting company in coming up with marketing strategies by
combining strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. However the company needs to
use its resource in areas where it will gain more profits

serves many customers both in the private and public sectors. Most of the companies
served by the Boston consulting group are well-performing companies globally. BCG
is also known to offer its services to non-profit making organizations and
governments.
The business is also unique thus making the company earn high profits despite
competition.

Weaknesses
Lack of scale compared to other companies.
Boston consulting group does not have much scale compared to other businesses in
this industry such as Ernest and young.
The company also faces significant competition from other companies in this
industry. For example, Delloite which is a significant competitor of Boston
consulting group made profits of about $35 billion last year compared to a profit of
about $5000 million made by Boston last year.
The company does not operate in all countries of the world thus not being able to
reach all customers that may need its services.
The company faces communication barrier in terms of cultural barrier and language
barrier because of its operations in different countries.
Opportunities
The management have a positive outlook on the consulting market.
Reeves, Haanaes &Sinha (2015) states that Boston consulting group has experienced
growth. This is because both the management markets and consulting markets have
grown over the past few years.
There has been growth of non –IT markets such as healthcare leading to the need for
consulting services.
The company is unique because it is a strategy consulting brand.
The company deals with all types of customers. The customers include non-profit
making organisation, governments and also those from private and public sectors
