INTRODUCTION
In today's environment, every organisation needs to formulate strategy in order to attain
their goals and objectives. Strategy is concerned with the action which includes general direction
set for the company so that they can achieve the desired goals and objectives (George, Walker &
Monster, (2019)). In order to deal with the external environment forces, it is necessary for an
organisation to do strategic planning. Strategic planning is defined as discipline efforts which
produce decisions and actions in order to achieve goals and objectives. Strategic planning is
required in every type of organisation whether it is an educational organisation (Sheng, Zhao,
Zhang, Song & Miao, (2019)). In this context, Tianjin University of Finance and Economics
Pearl River College is undertaking in order to do a strategic planning. This college was founded
in 2006 in China. This report will be discussing SWOT analysis of an organisation so that they
will be able to do a strategic planning in an effective way.
MAIN BODY
SWOT analysis
SWOT analysis is an important tool that used by organisation in order to analyse their
internal strength and weakness. This will be become very useful for a strategic leader in order to
formulate as strategic planning that will assist them to achieve their goals and objectives in an
effective way (Hanlon, (2019)). Tianjin University of Finance and Economics Pearl River
College is the popular college of China which is currently expanding their educational business.
Due to this, they need to do a strategic planning which assists them to achieve the desired goals
and objectives. In order to perform a strategic planning, it is necessary for Tianjin University of
Finance and Economics Pearl River College to analyse their organisation's operations and
environment. It is the undergraduate level College which operated by non government
organisation. It is approved by ministry of education and jointly sponsored by the Guangdong
Pearl River Education Investment Company Limited and Tianjin University of Finance and
Economics. This will assist them to take corrective action in an appropriate way. It can be only
possible with the help of SWOT analysis as it assist in determining what is happening within
organisation. It includes strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats related to the

organisation which impacts on their operations and also effect on strategic planning (Agarwal,
Grassl, & Pahl, (2012)). SWOT is a tool which not only analyse the internal environment of an
organisation but also is very useful in order to analyse external environment as it includes
opportunities and threats which comes out from external environment. So the SWOT analysis of
Tianjin University of Finance and Economics Pearl River College is mentioned below:

Tianjin University of Finance and
Economics Pearl River College is one
of the popular colleges of China
which provides education to
undergraduate level students. This
college is sponsored by Tianjin
University of Finance and Economics
which comes in the five earliest
financial universities in China
(Osuna, & Aranda, (2007)). This is
one of the important strength for this
college as every student know about
TUFE.
They are providing many types of
educational services such as
multimedia classrooms, language
laboratories, computer classrooms and
various other specialised laboratories.
Due to their diversified services,
students are like to join this college.
In addition to the above services, they
also have a library house which
covers approximate 840000 books,
6986 e Journals and 2800000 eBooks.
Tianjin University of Finance and
Economics Pearl River College is
founded in 2006 so that's why they
have not as much great experience as
compared to other Universities.
This organisation is operated by non
government organisations that are why
they are unable to take benefits of
government organisation. Due to this,
their prices of educational courses are
very high as compared to other
government educational courses which
reduce the number of students.
They have less presence in the market
as they have no as much experience. In
order to enter the new market, it will
become very difficult for Tianjin
University of Finance and Economics
Pearl River College to adopt new
culture.
They are facing a huge complex
situation due to covid-19. Even after
post pandemic situation, they are
unable to accept changes as students

There are also providing campus
facility with a standard stadium, table
tennis rooms, athletics field,
volleyball courts, gymnasium,
football fields, basketball courts,
tennis courts, etc.

It is found that teachers are in difficult
situation as they are unable to interact
with the students on a daily basis
which gives a great impact on the
study and education of students. It is
reduces the quality of education
services which impacts on the career
development of students.
Opportunities Threats
Due to their highly qualified and
committed staff and faculty, they are
able to provide quality education
services to the students. It increases
the opportunity for expansion of
college as every student wants to
learn from qualified teachers.
They are already formed a partnership
with 11 other universities of South
Korea, USA, UK and other countries.
This will really helpful for them as
they can invite more and more
students in the campus.
In the digital era, teachers of Tianjin
University of Finance and Economics
Pearl River College have an
opportunity to interact with their
students that helps them to reduce the
negative impact of pandemic.
Every day the complexities of business
environment is increasing which
include impact of societal trends,
political trends, economic events,
developing and existing technologies,
etc. These all are creating dynamic
situation for an organisation and put in
difficult situation (Aiyan, (2017)). It is
really increases the threats for Tianjin
University of Finance and Economics
Pearl River College.
It becomes necessary for Tianjin
University of Finance and Economics
Pearl River College to analyse their
organisational culture as it increases
the problems in challenges because of
sudden change due to pandemic.
Current pandemic situation creates
threats for an organisation as now

home in order to stop the propagation
of virus. It becomes difficult for every
student as they are unable to adopt new
technologies because generally people
are resistant to change.
Implications of SWOT analysis for strategic planning
SWOT analysis is applicable and helpful in order to plan and strategy according to the
company’s aims and objective. By analysing the internal position of organisation it will be
helpful to better make improvements or remove any negative factors (GURL, 2017). The swot
analysis work as a technique to intend specific strategies in order to plan and action a business
project. Strategic planning requires a clear vision and view through which the organisation can
look in two better ways in order to satisfy their customers and work on weak factors. This
strategic planning will mainly focus on adopting opportunities which will be derived from
conducting SWOT analysis. Therefore, Tianjin University of finance and economics Pearl River
College is required to use their SWOT analysis in order to make a strong reputation into the
world of education. The university need to make more efforts and relations in terms of
connecting with government organisations. After the situation of covid-19, University require
much effective strategies as it created a lot of impact on organisation both internally and
externally. SWOT analysis has helped in analysing these threats in weakness due to which the
university has leading slow growth in the education sector. There is requirement of clear Vision
and Mission of university in order to make strategic planning. By analysing their strength, they
could identify what could be the most powerful factor through which they good could gain
opportunities and also work to overcome with threats. SWOT analysis drive implementation of
all the management and operations in an effective manner (Tirabeni, 2020). It is a simple and
adaptable procedure for employees so that they could rectify the mistakes while working. Tianjin
University could make plans for hiring best qualified staff through making changes in HR
department. Also, they need to get into partnership as soon as possible as the market is become
in competitive which lead to fade out the opportunities quickly. Also the business environment is

The report has concluded that strategic planning is the most vital need of every organisation
looking to enable success in competitive market. Planning and developing strategies are the
continuous and pervasive function for organisation which does not stop whether the company
attend high revenue or losses. Therefore the report has identified the importance of SWOT
analysis by conducting it in a proper way. It showed the strength weakness opportunities and
threats that could be a powerful element or a negative factor for the organisation. Also it has
analysed that for analysis is helpful in implication of strategic planning.
