INTRODUCTION
Skills is defined as an ability of a person to do or achieve something. In present , highly
competitive environment , a person need to posses both academic and research abilities. As these
core competencies and capabilities will help them in their personal and professional growth.
Development of skills assist a person in improving their performance at workplace. Research
knowledge or capabilities supports person in identifying the external as well as internal factors
which can have imp-act on their performance within an organisation.
The purpose of the assignment is to develop the understanding about the significance of
academic as well as research skills In context of personal as well as professional development.
TASK 1
A) Assessing personal strength and weakness
Swot analysis is considered to be as an effective tool which can be used by an individual
for assessing the internal strength and weakness. Personal skills audit is the techniques which
supports a person in analysing the performance gap and recognising the additional abilities
which are required to be developed by them (Monks and et. al., 2013.). It also assists an
individual in determining the qualities as well as core competencies which will help them in
fostering their personal or professional growth.

make things more engaging for the team
I believe that If I have been successful in accomplishing this target I would able to foster

Improve ability to manage the team remotely, by establishing set communication guidelines
for when working out of office.

Active listening abilities is defined as the communication technique that is utilized in
counselling, training, and conflict resolution. It requires that the listener fully concentrate,
understand, respond and then remember (Hadar and Brody, 2013). Active listening abilities also
includes listening with all senses as well as paying attention to the facts or information shared by
other people. It is also considered to be as most fundamental component of interpersonal
communication ability (Swart, and Kinnie, 2013). Listener can utilise both verbal and non-
verbal messages to show that they are listening as well as considering the things or information
stated by the other person. It is very important for listener to give continuous response to other
person. As this strategy will assist them in inspiring an individual to continue their speech.

An individual can develop abilities, core competencies and can increase knowledge by
reading blogs , journal, articles , newspaper , online publication etc. Reading is considered to be
as the active process of understanding print and graphic texts. It also involves thinking procedure

Primary market research is a kind of market research which is done by the business or
company itself with the purpose of gathering data or information which can be utilized for
improving the products, services, and functions. The scholar can use both primary and
secondary source for gathering the information related to the market. Methods which can be
utilised by the research for gathering information directly from customers are market survey,
questionnaire , personal interview etc. Secondary market investigation is a research technique
that does not intent to collect information from scratch but relies on already available
information from binary sources (Calderhead,2012). Investigator can use books , blogs ,
newspapers articles as a method of collecting the secondary information about the market.
Among the several techniques market survey as well as analysis is considered to be as the
suitable as well as more appropriate method of acquiring the information about the market and
customer need (Kunze, Boehm and Bruch, 2013).

I have analysed from above assessment that there are already various skills I posses. But
there are still some additional core competencies which I need to developed in order to achieve
the desired career objectives. I believe that by developing these capabilities I would able to get
the good position in the company. I have also found that I need to work on improving my
presentation skills. In addition to this I also perceive that I need to increase my knowledge about
particular field (Monks and et. al., 2013.) .As this strategy will provide me an ease in making

used by a person for identifying their own strength and weakness. It has also been concluded
