2SYSTEM ANALYSIS OF MY HEALTH RECORD
Introduction
In terms of information technology, the healthcare system generally comes behind for the
maintenance of it functions as well as processes. With the up gradation of technologies to its
highest peak, still many of the healthcare does not involve the process of information technology.
They prefer to maintain all its processes and information by paper records. But, the health care is
coming in to the scenario of information technology (Kampas et al, 2016). As humans are
preferring to use the technology in all aspects of life, t cope up with that health care centers are
changing its technology to sustain in the market. Innovative ideas are being used by the health
care centers to make their systems fast, efficient and automated so that their customers can avail
all their service online. One of the information technology that can be used by “My Health
Record” is cloud infrastructure for making its data secured and safe from hackers. As “My
Health Record” deals with ample amount of data, it is required for the organization to keep the
data of the patients and employees safe from data breach (Gangwar, Date & Ramaswamy, 2015).
So, cloud infrastructure is recommended for the system. The cloud infrastructure consists of
three service models including the IaaS model, SaaS model, PaaS model of cloud infrastructure
can be used.
Vendor Solution for My Health Record
The best three cloud provider that can be suggested for the system of “My Health
Record” are as follows.
1. Microsoft-
Microsoft is basically considered to be a technological center for many years. Microsoft
provides many others services from years ago, but recently has started providing cloud solution

for many companies (Avram, 2014). Microsoft is considered to be one of the topmost company,
which mainly provides cloud service to many organizations. Other services are provided by
Microsoft are AI (Artificial Intelligence), machine learning, Blockchain and many more.
Basically, a robust operational performance is provided by the Microsoft because the
operation that the Microsoft provides is a public cloud infrastructure. The service that the
Microsoft produces is mainly divided in three sectors. The sectors that are categorized for
Microsoft are intelligent cloud, and all the business processes that includes dynamics and
Microsoft office.
The feature that the cloud provider Microsoft provides includes deployment of the
application as well as designing the application in network of Microsoft. High speed of operation
is provided by Microsoft (Chou, 2015). The service provided by Microsoft consists of database,
tools, programming framework, programming languages, as well as operating systems. Another
feature that is provided by Microsoft is that it provides cloud technology that is easily available
to the customers. In addition to that, Microsoft provides their customer with a free trial of 30
days for their customers to look at the service they provide. If the customers prefer to take the
service after 30 days trial period, they will have to subscribe for the service.
2. Salesforce.com
Another cloud infrastructure that the organization of “My Health Record” is
recommended is the cloud service of Salesforce. The Salesforce is a company from America that
provides software as a service to all the customer. Because of mixing of its cloud infrastructure,
the cloud service of Salesforce has become famous for providing cloud service (Tung, Richter &
Savjani, 2015). The service that is provided basically helps the organization to manage the

relationship between their customer and the lifecycle of the software. The others service that the
Salesforce.com provides their customers are service for Internet of Things, Application
Development, commerce, marketing, communities, as well as analytics. All these service are
provided by Salesforce.com. After the tying up with the Google, the company has reached to its
highest peak and the company will make many innovations in the sector of Information
technology.
The features that are provided by the Salesforce is that the company provides customer
service, sales, CRM, marketing, mobile applications, etc. other service that are provided by
Salesforce includes marketing, Sales cloud, and service cloud (Toosi, Calheiros & Buyya, 2014).
This is the only company that keep a record of all the details of the customer’s contact and stores
them on their cloud so that they can be used when they are needed. The customer can also take
the service of cloud irrespective of place and time only, only with the availability of Internet.
3. Amazon Web Service
Amazon Web Service is considered to be the data center of all the customers as well as
provides the service of cloud to all small sized companies as well as to big sized companies. The
service that Amazon provides is very older service for storing the information system in the
company. There can be competition among all the users provides of cloud and Amazon faces
highest competition in the sector (Hashem et al., 2015). The Amazon provides a modelling that is
web based which makes this system famous among the companies. Simple database of web
service is provided by Amazon and provides a CloudFront including a content delivery. All the
message transmission are stored by Amazon for future use. This process is known as Simple

Queue Service. The Amazon has reached its peak because it has introduced as new cloud known
as Elastic Compute in 2006.
The features the AWS provides for the companies with as service that is very fast and is
the cheapest among all the cloud providers in the market. The infrastructure service that Amazon
provides includes computing power, service for database, and networking (Rittinghouse &
Ransome, 2016). A static website is provided by Amazon to all the companies who takes service
from Amazon. Amazon provides a trustworthy service along with flexible as well as scalable
service for free to its users. This service is the cheapest service among all the providers of cloud.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Cloud
The cloud services provide the companies with various benefits. For the added
advantages many companies are switching to cloud based systems. The benefits of the cloud
based services are noted below.
1. The cloud system is very cost effective. To implement the cloud system it cost very
less of the company expenditure (Botta et al., 2016). Once implemented the system can
maintained with very less cost. Also the cloud service providers are keeping the cost very low so
that the companies can afford their service without spending lots of money.
2. One of the vital characteristics of cloud that makes the system much more effective is
that it can be accessed via multiple system. Due to this property the users can access the system
using computers, mobile phones, IPad etc. This way the system becomes more efficient as well
as faster. The administrator or the customer can access the data from anywhere any time with
just push of a button.

3. The cloud services does not required high number of software. This is why the cloud
service is cost beneficial with respect to other IT services (Almorsy, Grundy & Müller, 2016).
All needed software is already provided in the cloud so that the user does not have to pay the
cost of licenses.
4. To maintain the system or to install the servers the company does not required to
employ new employee. The installation, maintenance and arrangement can be done by anyone
with little expertise.
5. Implementation of cloud services helps company to keep their records securely
(Assunção et al., 2015). It minimises the day to day paper work, hence provide the company with
an effective workflow.
With all these advantages the cloud based system is not complete flawless. There are
some disadvantages to the cloud system. These drawbacks are stated below.
1. The users must have internet connection to access the cloud system. Without the
internet connection one cannot access stored data.
2. The cloud services require an internet connection with high bandwidth. If the company
does not have high bandwidth internet, it cannot use the cloud service (Ali, Khan & Vasilakos,
2015).
3. When a lot of users use the system simultaneously the system can slow down, even
worse it can completely shut down temporarily.
4. Although the data stored in the cloud is safe, the company must stay vigilant to
maintain data security.

5. Some services provide with non-negotiable contracts, which is a disadvantageous for
the company.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Predictive SDLC and Adaptive SDLC
Approach
Adaptive System Development Life Cycle
The advantages that the adaptive approach of SDLC model provides is that it has
additional feature of adding, changing or cancelling the requirements of the project after stating
the project execution phase. The requirement by the clients can be altered and the client can
make additional functionality to the project. This adaptive approach provides flexibility to the
clients if they adopt this approach of System Development Life Cycle (Bajaj, Patel & Patel,
2015). Implementation of the project is the main focus in adaptive approach. The disadvantages
that the adaptive method provides is that this approach is to be used by different users in
different ways. All applications can include this adaptive process but in different way. There can
be many technical risks that the method provides and the budget is expected to change as there is
a change in the project requirement. The completion time of the project is also high.
Predictive System Development Life Cycle
There are many advantages as well as disadvantages that are provided by the SDLC
approach of predictive method. The advantages that this approach mainly follows is all the
processes as well as functions are defined clearly before starting the project work. This approach
of SDLC mainly requires steady requirement of project. This predictive method of SDLC deals
with many technical risks in the project (Matharu et al., 2015). The disadvantages that the
predictive method of SDLC method provides is that this approach is very much time consuming,

and all plans are to be made at project starting phase. No backward process is allowed to the
developers in this approach of System Development Life Cycle. No change of requirements is
possible in this method.
The approach that is recommended for “My Health Record” is the adaptive approach of
System development life cycle as this method allows alteration of requirement after starting the
project.
Conclusion
From this report, it can be concluded that cloud vendor is the most important information
technology that “My Health Record” can implement for improving its process. This report
defines three cloud vendors including Amazon, Microsoft and Salesfore.com that helps to
improve the process of information technology in “My Health Record”. There are many
advantages as well as disadvantages that the cloud provides. All such benefits and issues are
stated in this report along with their mitigation process. There is usually two approaches of
System Development Life Cycle model that includes adaptive model and predictive model. The
issues and the benefits of those approaches are also elaborated clearly in this report.
