INTRODUCTION There are drastic changes and innovation in technologies due to globalisation and changes in taste and preferences of people so it has adversely impacted lifestyles and wellbeing of individual. People are making more and more use of innovative technologies to perform their respective task as it provides them ease and comfort.There are both positive and negative impact of technologies on mental health and wellbeing of people. Most of the business are making use of digital technologies to grab information about their customers so that they can formulates differentiate strategies to motivate them to make purchased form specific firm as compared to another. This report is literature review on impact of technology on lifestyle management for mental health and well being. It discussed the way innovation in technology has make life’s of people better and effective or enhance their well-being. MAIN BODY Impact of technology on health and wellbeing of individuals As per view ofSiegel and Dorner, (2017)In recent world most of the individual are using innovative technologies and electronic devices such as laptop, computer, smart phones and other to connect with each other’s or exchange relevant information. Technologies have make lifestyles of people better as they are able to know about foreign trends and culture or learn new way of doing particular things. Social media is platforms that have increased knowledge and skills of people as they are able to easily learn about new techniques and trends in foreign countries thus enhance their living standard. It provide platform where kids, children and adult may have fun and enjoyment or entertainment by watching videos and playing games. 2 billion people staying across worldwide are using both Facebook and Instragram monthly for their entertainment and personal satisfaction of needs. Technologies have make their life easy as they can share lot of information with people that are staying away within a minutes. It can be stated that interaction on social media has majorly impacted on individual satisfaction level and well being as they are able to connect with number of people in a meanwhile. They does not have to travel to far place to share or exchanges their information as technologies have
provided them convince and ease. There are several lecture and learning program on various videos of You tube which helps student to learn information easily. Positive impact of technologies on mental health and wellbeing of individuals As illustrated byO'Learyand et.al., (2017) there are some more impacted of technologies on new generation, people or business man such as it have reduce overall cost of operation of several activities of firm. Now manager can easily market or promote products and services of firm by use of innovative technologies or social media platform that is used by various individual. It can create strong brand image, awareness of enterprise in minds and heart of customers as they are able to get lot of information through such medium. Younger generation have less time so they likes to have online shopping as products or services are delivered to their doorsteps within minimum time and cost. Thus, they became aware of the way new technologies can be used to select specific products range for better satisfaction of their needs. Manager can also conduct market research by use of information technology as it helps in collecting and analysing large amount of data so that accurate decision or strategies can be made for satisfaction of needs. Company can able to build and retained strong relationship with diverse individual by use of new technologies as they can easily share their feedback, likes or comment on official websites of firm. Thus, other people by reviewing experienced of previous customers can able to make accurate choice regarding purchased of products and services from one company to another for fulfilment of their respective requirements.Another impact of technology is that it have contributed towards optimum utilisation of resources thereby reduced amount of wastage, cost in manufacturing products. Companies are able to delivered qualitative services or products to end customers at minimum cost due to improvement in technology. Thus it has increased knowledge, skills and capabilities of people to find new ideas or innovative method to satisfy customer’s requirements. It has also increases level of competition within country as new companies are coming with innovative technologies and ideas to cover large market share and profitability. Innovative technologies have contributed in improvement in quality of life of people, better treatment of various diseases and medical facilities. Artificial intelligence is another technology that helps in reducing requirements of more labour thus leading to increasing employment rate within economy. Thus, operating expense of firm can be reduced easily as less number of employees is required to performed task.Children can learn new technical and other skills, knowledge very quickly by use of social media such as Facebook, Twitter and instragram. But long term use of digital technology by children and younger generation may cause adverse impact on their mental health that is depression or anxiety. Search engines such as Google, yahoo are mostly used by people to search or gathered relevant information to enhance their knowledge. Thus it can be stated that technologies has upgraded lifestyles and standard of people that are living in society. Technologies have helped in creating more employment opportunities and demand of specialised skills so that task can be completed in minimum time and cost for delivering better services to customers. It also helps people to easily track their chronic diseases, diets and mental health information thus they are able to control and maintained better health and lifestyles. From the point view of Brotchieand et.al., (2017)large numbers of individuals spend their most of the time using smart phones or laptop for having fun that lead to mental stress and affect on well-being of people for long term.Kids and younger people are facing anxiety and depression or increased mental stress due to more use of innovative technologies so it have negatively impacted on health and wellbeing of individuals. Therefore, it have created lot of mental stress and increased level of depression among individuals.
Negative impact of technologies on mental health and wellbeing of individuals As noted by Berryman, Ferguson and Negy, (2018)there are several negative impact of technology on mental health and well-being of individual. Such as one of the ill impacts of technology is digital eye strain as most of the people gaze their phones or screen of electronic device for longer period of time and also forget to blink eyes that resulted in digital eye strain. More use of technologies lead to headaches, neck and shoulder pains thereby affecting health and well being of individuals.Thus huge numbers of individual are facing from problem of digital eye strain that is harmful in long run. Another effect of technology on health of people is that sleeping disorder as number of individual likes to leave their sleep to use their smart phones or devices. Approximately 70% mobile owner wants to have their phones next to their bed so that they could not miss anything which resulted in poor sleeping habits and mental stress. Whereas other individual wake up from their sleep due to lightening or sound of notification thus it create problem in poor sleep. Younger generation use their phones till late night thus lead to poor health, mental stress and sleep. They wants to spend their time alone in order to have entertainment at social media platform thus it have created feeling of anxiety and depression among younger generation. Therefore it can be stated that it cause harm to their eye sight and improper sleep which lead to irritation and depression of among people. As suggested byCoyne.and et.al.,(2020)it has also resulted in physical inactivity as most of the kids, children spend their time while playing games and watching videos thus avoiding exercises. It has resulted in more chance of obesity among people as they sit at particular place to watch different video and play games in smart phones. It stated that more than 3 million people use social media every day to interact or contact with each other’s and it have become addiction for large number of individual in society. Overuses of such technologies have adversely impacted on well-being of several people as it has resulted in rise in depression, mental pressure especially among teenagers. It has also increased chance of cyber bulling and threat to information or crucial data of people as number of hacker tries to hack account to make use of information for undesirable purpose. More use of social media have resulted increase chance of threat to security and privacy of information as hacker tries to make use of personal information or detailed for undesirable purpose that adversely impact on health and
mental status of individuals. It can be stated that digital life is a threat to political, economic and psychological well being of individuals. Therefore another negative impacted is that people are tension and in secured to use social media for any purpose because of increasing crime and threat to personal information. Recommendation Berry and et.al., (2018)One of the main concern of using social media or innovative technology is that more addiction of kids, younger generation to internet and smart phones for having entertainment and fun. It often leads to diagnosable mental illness that is symptoms of low self –esteem and loneliness and depression among large number of individuals. Therefore it have been notice that high use of screen in adolescents has reduces overall physical activities thus increasing number of obesity patients and lower well being of people. As per author every single child out of 5 children between age group of 13-18 is facing serious mental illness such as 8% are facing anxiety disorder, 11% mood disorder and 10% behaviour disorder. Therefore various steps need to be taken by parent in order to save children to make misuse or overuse of technologies for their better health and wellbeing. Parent of children needs to set appropriate time limit for which they should use innovative technologies so that it cannot become addiction. Lot of personal data of business and individual are lost by use of innovative technologies or social media such as bank detail or preferences of people so that various plan can be formed to motivated them to perform task in particular manner. So, people in order to save their personal data or information needs to make use of safe and secure password, and does not accept any cookies or open any email that is come from unknown sources. Business can make use of innovative technologies to expand its business operation across worldwide and better customer’s satisfaction. CONCLUSION It can be concluded from above report that Technology has make life of people better and easy as various tasks can be completed within limited time frame and cost.
