Assessment Task 2
In this task, you are required to plan and organise assessment processes for three units of competency.
This assessment template resembles one assessment tool for one unit of competency. You are to duplicate this
booklet three times.
You will need to engage a qualified colleague who has a TAE qualification or has vocational expertise in the
relevant area to provide feedback to you on your training and assessment plan.
There are clear instructions throughout this resource and if at any time you have questions please do not hesitate to
contact your trainer/assessor.
Step 1 - Assessment Plan
You are required to develop an assessment plan for three different units of competency (one in this resource).
The assessment plan template is to be used for each of the threetraining and assessing environment assessment
plans and must be completed using a different unit of competency for each.
You are welcome to use your own templates if you wish. It is your responsibility to ensure your templates provide
all the information required.

Step 2 - Assessment Instructionsand Instruments
You are required to develop a complete assessment tool for the unit of competency indicated in the assessment plan
you have developed in the previous step.
Templates for the assessment tasks and methods are includedfor you to use if you wish. Noteyou are required to
use a range of assessment methods throughout your assessment plans (x3).
Assessments methods suitable to VET are listed on the following ASQA fact sheet:

Delete any templates you don’t use. Create your own or use any other templates as you wish.
You are required to complete (in most cases) at least two instruments for each assessment method chosen. For
instance; a written test for candidates to complete and a written test with answers for the assessor.
You must create at least one of your own assessment instruments per assessment plan. Other existing instruments
can be usedif suitable (acknowledge the source) and must be contextualised to suit your assessment plan/context.

machine and transmit the SOP to a fax number located on the bottom of the
SOP. Then log on to a computer and navigate to word and open a new
document. Complete the computer task as noted on the computer task document.

• organisational procedures related to operation and maintenance of equipment

• case studies and, where possible, real situations.
You will be provided feedback on your performance by your assessor. The
feedback will indicate if you have satisfactorily the requirements for each task or
not satisfactorily met the requirements, the assessor will also clarify the tasks
you must re-attempt at a later date to demonstrat a satisfactory performance.
You have the right to appeal the outcome of the assessment decisions if you feel

Role Play/Scenario/Observation Task Template
OBSERVATION TASK
Instructions to the candidate:
Task 1
This assessment task is about how the student will be send a fax by using the fax machine that is
been set up. They will be seen by doing this as per the manufacturers instructions given. They will
then send fax it to another fax machine, hence it will be proved that it was sent correctly. Once it is
completed.1
As per the manual, the students are required to workstation power up the workstation, then go to
Microsoft word. Provide name, time, date and address. The assesors job is to test errors related to
machine to check the procedure to troubleshoot or stating the process as faulty equipment.
It has to be noted that all the needs have to be observed by the trainer to complete the
assessment.the time given to complete this assessment is 30 mins.

Instructions to the assessor:
All assessors are required to read and follow the assessor / trainer guide to carry out the assessment
tasks. The guidelines are as follows:-

 Assessors need to look for good training facility that will reflects a workplace environment,
with the required materials, resources and equipment before the assessment starts.3
 The facility must include – A4 paper, manuals, desk, chair, PC and fax machine
 Students must have their ow personal login and password to open the system and sart
working
 The assessor will look after the candidates and management.
 The assessor is to completely aware about the job they are given, the assessor is not suppose
to give any feedback until after the task is finished.
 Students have to part in all the required tasks.
 Students as per the assessment criteria need to answers all questions. Students will have to do
more assessment to demonstrate competency incase the task is not completed properly.

is a series of 10 questions designed to allow the students to demonstrate competence in the unit.

When completing the assessment students are required to individually demonstrate satisfactory performance
Conditions of Assessment
 This is a closed book assessment to be completed in the training room on site. Time allocated is
30 minutes.
 For the student to be deemed satisactory in this assessment task, the student must provide a
correct responses to all 10 questions. If part of this task in not satisfactory, students will be
asked to complete further assessment to demonstrato competence.
 Students are provided feedback on their performance by their assessor. The feedback will
indicate will indicate if the answers are correct or incorrectly. Students will be advised of the
subject areas that they must reattempt at a later time6.
 Students have the right of appeal regarding the outcome of the assessment decisions if they feel
they have been dealt with unfairly or have other appropriate grounds for an appeal. Students
will be required to follow they instructions in the student handbook regarding this.

TAE qualified staff member or acolleague who has knowledge in the vocational area of the unit chosen.
Have them review all of the assessment instruments in the tool to validate the content and applicability (you could
ask them to complete the review checklist from above and/or to complete the tool as a student would to test
usability)
