Assessment Task 2
In this task, you are required to plan and organise assessment processes for three units of competency.
This assessment template resembles one assessment tool for one unit of competency. You are to duplicate this
booklet three times.
You will need to engage a qualified colleague who has a TAE qualification or has vocational expertise in the
relevant area to provide feedback to you on your training and assessment plan.
There are clear instructions throughout this resource and if at any time you have questions please do not hesitate
to contact your trainer/assessor.
Step 1 - Assessment Plan
You are required to develop an assessment plan for three different units of competency (one in this resource).
The assessment plan template is to be used for each of the threetraining and assessing environment assessment
plans and must be completed using a different unit of competency for each.
You are welcome to use your own templates if you wish. It is your responsibility to ensure your templates provide
all the information required.

Step 2 - Assessment Instructionsand Instruments
You are required to develop a complete assessment tool for the unit of competency indicated in the assessment
plan you have developed in the previous step.
Templates for the assessment tasks and methods are includedfor you to use if you wish. Noteyou are required to
use a range of assessment methods throughout your assessment plans (x3).
Assessments methods suitable to VET are listed on the following ASQA fact sheet:

Delete any templates you don’t use. Create your own or use any other templates as you wish.
You are required to complete (in most cases) at least two instruments for each assessment method chosen. For
instance; a written test for candidates to complete and a written test with answers for the assessor.
You must create at least one of your own assessment instruments per assessment plan. Other existing
instruments can be usedif suitable (acknowledge the source) and must be contextualised to suit your assessment
plan/context.

Instructions to the candidate:
This task assessment requires you to find proper equipments that can be used in ordet to provide
a response against oil spills. You are going to be observed thoroughly while preparing the
equipments according to the Occupational Health and Safety requirements. You will ned to
prepare a deployment and development plan that will be uploaded online for environmentalists to
adopt and that when completed will prve your competency.
You need to read over the manuals and the rule books on environmental conditions on the
internet. Then you need to write your full name, address, date and time in a Microsoft Word file.
The assessor will be playing the role of correcting the mistakes that have been made while
preparing the deployment or development plan or identifying the proper equipments.
Site Specific Deployment Plan
The oil spills that happen over time on the different water bodies is the release of petroleum
hydrocarbon in liquid form into the ecosystems of the environment because of the humans. The
term defines the marine kind of oil spills and cause pollution. The development plan will help you
to provide an adequate and regular exercise that can be used to access the right type of
equipment for the response against oil spills.
The development plan involves:
 Well developed plans for exercising the equipments.
 Regular exercises.
 Adequate number of resources.
 The aspect of personnel component.
 A deep and clear understanding of he regulations and the issues of the oil industry.
The oil spill equipments include:

Conditiond of the Assessment:
The assessment have to be performed in an environment, which is safe. The evidences that have
been gathered have to be consistant with the demonstration of the performance by the
candidate. The experience of the typical activities that are part of the general administration of
the work field includes and gives access to:
 Maintenance and operational manuals
 The records relate to the resources
 The procedures of the organization has to be in accordance to the maintenance and
opratuon of the equipment.
 Real sitiation if possible and case studies.
Feedback will be provided by the assessor on the performance. The feedback will prove whether
the students have met the requirements satisfactorily or not and whether the candidate needs to
reattempt certain portions to prove the competency.
The student has the risght to appeal if he or she feels that there has been unfair judgememt of the
assessment task.

The student has to prepare a proper plan and deploy it in order to give a response to the oil spills
on the oceans. This requires an elaborate process and the tasks include:

 Utilization of the equipments of personal protection as has been devised by the work

Instructions to the assessor:
All assessors have to read the guidelines of the trainer or the assessor in the handbook in order to
judge the assessment tasks correctly and justly. These includes:
 The instructions of the assessor involving pre, during and post assessment.
 The guidelines that requires the completion of the assessment tasks by the utilization of the
workplace environment that is simulated.
 The details of the studenst along with the specific needs of learning of individual candidate.
Assessor Information
 The assessor has to make sure that the whole training facility gives the idea of the
environment of a workplace along with the resources that are associated with each task, the
equipments and the materials required before the assessment tasks are being initiated.
 The facilty of training needs to include items such as chairs, desks, PC, A4 size papers, pens,
pencils, manuals and rule books.
 The student needs to have an ID and a password so that his or her online footprints can be
tracked.
 The role of the management will be played by the assessor.
 The assessor has to clearly and with certainity understand the role,which he needs to play
and must not give any feedback before the completion of the tasks.
The trainers can also interpret the responses or the answers provided by the candidate in the place
of a assessor.

WRITTEN QUESTIONS – ASSESSOR GUIDE
The students are required to read the questions and provide the correct answers accordingly to the
space provided below.
The assessment is based on the knowledge that have been gained through the training of the course.
There are a series of questions in this assessment that will provide the competence level of the
student.

The students are required to demonstrate performance that is satisfactory on an individual level after
the task is completed.
Conditions of the Assessment
 This is a closed book type of assessment that will take place on the site of training and in a
room and the time given is 30 minutes.
 For the generation of satisfactory results the student needs to answers all the 10 questions
correctly. If the student fails to provide satisfactory answers or responses then he or she will
be subjected to another assessment that the assessor will provide based on the areas or
portions that were unsatisfactory. This new assessment have to be done correctly to
demonstrate competence.
 The students wil be given a feedback on their answers by the assessor. The feedback will show
them whether their answers have been right or wrong. Wrong asnwers will lead the student to
a reattempt of providing satisfactory results.
 The students will get the right of appeal if they feel that they have been the subject of bias or if
they feel that their answers have been treated in an unfair or unjust way. The students can
follow the instructions provided in the guidebook in such a case.

The assessor are expected to follow the handbook of the trainer or assessor and stick to the rules in

Step 4 - Trialling assessment tools
You are required to engage relevant personnel to trial and review your assessment tool. This should be another
TAE qualified staff member or acolleague who has knowledge in the vocational area of the unit chosen.
Have them review all of the assessment instruments in the tool to validate the content and applicability (you
could ask them to complete the review checklist from above and/or to complete the tool as a student would to
test usability)
Document the feedback you have received relating to the trial and review conducted. You can summarise the
feedback in the box below or screenshot evidence of feedback received (i.e.) their email response.
