to discuss your ability to work with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait
Islander People and to create a Culturally Safe environment.
Task/s to be assessed This is a written assessment task short answer question’s.
Time allowed You will have 3 weeks to complete this assessment
Location This is a take home assignment to be downloaded from Learn and
re-uploaded into Learn.

Scenario
You are a worker in a community services organisation, & through conversations in the work place it has
been noted that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients/colleagues feel they have little to no voice or
representation in the organisation.
It is also noted that there are currently no partnerships between the organisation and the local Aboriginal
and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
The organisation believes this is a critical need for the strategic direction for the organisation and has
asked your help in developing a Cultural Safety Policy.
Q1. Draft an email to a local Elder inviting them to become a cultural broker to Aboriginal & Torres Strait

organization for the past three months. The organization deals on providing cleaning services, and
arrangement of podiums and any other places where as long as public meetings and events are
held. I am working with different personnels with variations in culture. but the bigger percentage is
those of Melanesian origin, “The Torres Strait Islander” and the Aboriginal, Due to your expertise in
mediation, I would therefore request you come in two weeks’ time you come reduce the conflict
between the two groups with the organization. There is need to change the perception of non
Indeginous people on Aborigines culture.
