INTRODUCTION
Sustainable Tourism is explained as the concept which is connected with travelling to any
of the new place which allows to bring positive impact upon the service industry and a
economy of a country. It is one of the most crucial industry because it simply allows to attract
people form different part of the world. In context of the file, the organisation which has been
selected is Hiltion Hotel which is a famous multinational company. Company was incorporated
in the year 1919 by Conrad Hilton.
The major focus of file will be based on impact of tourism industry and the resulting
development. Process of effective sustainable tourism strategy will be discussed. Also,
contribution of stakeholders for global strategic development.
TASK 1
P1) Adverse impacts of travel and tourism that leads to sustainable tourism development
In present scenario, tourism industry has the great importance which simply allow to
uplift the economy level of the nation. The tourism industry can easily provide more number of
job opportunity with the country which can allow to uplift the living standard. But, the main
thing which must be considered is environment because adverse impact can be easily seen just
because of tourism industry. There are some of the adverse impact of travel and tourism which
has been listed below:
Scare Resources: In resent scenario, the resource which are available in any of the sector is
limited which can create lots of issues for the tourism (Kolk, 2016). The common problem which
are to be faced by tourist are related with availability of connectivity within the remote areas.
Also, there are number of occasion where electricity is not available which is one of the major
problem. As resources are being used in unwanted manner which is the reason the ground level
of water is decreasing day by day which has a direct impact on soil erosion. In order to deal with
these respective problem, it will be necessary for the tourist that they must try to use any of the
resources in a effective manner so that they will not have to face any of the problem in future
period of time. Even other crucial decisions can be taken into which government can easily have
a look at imposing different penalties for excessive use of resources. Focusing more toward
using public transportation which can reduce the problem. This can be the way through which
environment can be managed easily in a effective manner.

Environmental consideration: Everyday people are increasing day by day which is
directly having the adverse impact. In context of the tourism industry, it can be said that tourism
at attractive place are increasing day by day which has a impact on nature but the availability of
resources are limited. On daily basis, thousand of people and animal has to face problem just
because of deforestation and even environment is being affected negatively (Joyce and Paquin,
2016). It is necessary to deal within this problem. In order to deal with this respective problem,
some of the important decisions can be taken by tourism sector by implementing different
strategies which will help to bring sustainability within the environment.
P2) Conceptual development of sustainable tourism
Sustainable development is one of the must crucial concept which plays the crucial role
within the environment. Whenever there is a positive sustainability, then it can easily allow to to
manage every single activity within the environment. Also, there will be higher possibilities that
each and every threats can be deal in best possible manner without creating any of the problem
for nature. In order to manage all of the adverse effect, it has been found that government has
taken some of the decision so that any of the impact which can be seen upon the local public can
be managed easily.
If in any of the situation, sustainability within the tourism can be developed, then in that
respective situation different benefits can be provided and even better facilities can be given to
wildlife resources. In addition, there will be higher possibilities that government bodies can give
there best to utilise and manage each of the resources as well as environment.
Sustainable Tourism has been developed within the help of social perspective where
number of opportunities are being provided to public at large for the purpose of enhancing the
source of earning (De los Rios and Charnley, 2017). In order to develop any of the sector, it is
essential that focus should be given into sustainable tourism because it will allow the exchange
culture and religion through which living standard an be improved easily. Even it will also
provide the opportunity to utilise each and every resources in a effective manner through which
goals can be accomplished easily.

It is necessary to understand that maintaining the sustainability in tourism industry plays
the most important role. But, it is crucial to take the help of various kind of principles which can
allow to bring better form of development. Some of the principles are discussed below:
 Using resources sustainably: In any of form of business, it is necessary to understand
that resources should be used effectively. In context of Hilton, they have been using the
resources in best possible manner due to which they are able to sustain within the market
since last 100 years. Here, they have been using some of the effective strategy to reduce
the negative impact upon nature as they are not using plastic products within the
premisses of a hotel (Wood, 2017). Also, number of other facilities are being used for
providing effective service to the customers.
 Reducing over consumption and waste: Whenever any of the organisation focus on
reducing the percentage of wastage and over consumption, then in that respective
situation profit increases automatically. Even, there will be higher possibilities that better
quality of services can be provided easily in it.
 Maintaining biodiversity: In order to manage sustainability within tourism industry, it
will be necessary to understand that balance should be maintained within nature, culture
as well as social aspects because it will simply allow to manage its effect. If company
like Hilton will be able to bring biodiversity within their business form, then various
benefit can be obtained easily.

P4) Role of key stakeholders in the global sustainable tourism agenda and strategic development
process
In any of the situation, stakeholders has the crucial which they must play for the purpose
of obtaining the effective results. The term stakeholder is wider in itself which include different
people such as customers, government, organisation, shareholders and many more. All of the
stakeholder has a crucial role in attaining the goals within specific time period (Lund-Durlacher,
and et. al., 2019). It is also necessary to understand that development and participation of
stakeholder in decision making process can easily allow to achieve target to the company.
Below, some of the stakeholders has been mentioned with there roles.

 National Government: They are the most important stakeholder within the tourism
industry as they are the one who simply forms laws and policies. There involvement
within the industry will allow to decide whether tourism sector will be developed or not.
For example: for government is focus on infrastructural development then tourism
industry can be developed (Edgell 2019). Also, it will be necessary for Hilton Hotel to
make there decision as per the rules and regulations of national government for the
purpose of providing facilities to tourist.
 Tourist: Here, tourist also plays the important role as there preferences will help to
determine that what are those destination where they like to visit. Also, they are the one
who has to spend and money. By considering this, it will be necessary to understand for
Hilton to decide that what are those places where they would like to visit so that
requirements can be fulfilled.
 Tourism Industry: Here, different restaurants, hotels, transport facilities plays the
crucial role because it will allow to provide services. It will be necessary that all of there
aim should be same of provide effective services so that sustainability be maintained and
even targets can be achieved.
This are some of the most important stakeholders who can play the crucial role in the
process of bring sustainability within the hospitality industry. This stakeholder will have to set
the standard and agenda which can easily allow to meet out the targets on specific time period.
Secondary research is that kind of research that involves summary, collation and synthesis of an
existing research. These are contrasted with primary research and under such research generation
of data is done and in secondary research primary data is used
P5) Evaluate the ways in which key stakeholders contribute to the global sustainable tourism
agenda and strategic development
In present scenario, stakeholders are the one who has to contribute for effective result. If
in any of the situation, stakeholders will not be able to take effective decision then in that
respective situation sustainability might not be maintained (Diaz and Kien, 2019). Here, they
have to take some of the effective decision during planning and plotting so that proper
destinations can be planned through which more number of tourist can be attracted. It is among
those industry where contribution from stakeholders will play the key role in development
process and some of the contribution are mentioned below:

Various tourism strategies: There have been number of decision which has been taken
by business organisation for the purpose of attracting the tourist. Here, major focus is done by
providing services where different beneficial offers are usually included. If proper strategies and
plans will be prepared then there will have huge possibilities that opportunities for new
employment and jobs can be increased significantly. It is necessary to understand that different
stakeholders have different roles and responsibilities which they are needed to perform
(Darvidou, Siskos and Rogach, 2020). For example: Government has formed different plans and
policies which can allow to develop new destination and promotion can be done. The major
purpose of forming new policies because it will allow to ensure the safety and security of tourist
whenever they visit any of the place. In context of local government, they are also the important
stakeholders who can contribute by taking crucial decision towards infrastructure which will
allow to bring sustainability within the tourism industry. There are number of commodities
which has been focusing towards the development of local residences which allow to utilise all
of the resources in appropriate manner by utilising resources properly. The organisation which
has been involved within this industry has been focusing on number of factors which allow them
to perform there operations effectively. This is how different stakeholder can allow to contribute
towards the industry in best possible manner.
Focus on competitiveness: Stakeholders plays the crucial role which allows to provide
competitive advantage to tourism sector. Here, local people can also teach different culture to
tourist which will automatically allow to promote the place. In simple words, it will allow them
to provide best possible services to the customers.
In short, if stakeholder can be able to bring some of interesting idea then it will directly
allow them to attract the customer from different part of the world (Enoch, 2016). But, if in case,
services are not provided as per requirement then in that situation lots of problem can be created.

From the above discussion, it can be easily concluded that any of the organisation must
understand that different activities with are important within travel and tourism industry. If
company is able to perform various activity then in that respective situation impact upon
environment, culture and society can be arranged in effective manner. In any of the situation the
role and support form stakeholder can play the crucial role in development of the tourism
industry.
