INTRODUCTION
Leadership or management refers to a properly leading the workforce of an organisation
as to enhance their capacity and overall business effectiveness. The study will describe various
leadership style which can be used for the leadership purpose. Further it will also recommend the
suitable leadership style for global organisation.
MAIN BODY
Leadership models
Leadership is an important element of effectively managing the workforce and enhancing
their capacity. There are many models that can be applied in leadership style. Leader need to
choose appropriate leadership model for performing leadership task. Some leadership models
are:
Trait model:
While applying trait model in the leadership style, the leader anlyses all the traits that are
needed while performing the leadership tasks. Leader analyses all the strengths and weaknesses
related to the traits for the purpose of leading the team and try to reduce all the weaknesses as
well (Rees, 2015). After such analysis, the leader apply all the traits as per the situation arisen in
the organisation. For example, for the purpose of transferring the information to team members,
the communication skill is being used by the leader. Further, in case of need of the decision
making for the team, the decision making trait is being used.
In this regard in the trait approach, the leader uses all the traits as per the need of situation
for the purpose of performing leadership task effectively.
Contingency model:
In the contingency model, leaders do not use any strict theory or policy. Rather, they
analyse the situation arisen and decides to perform their leadership task according as to
effectively face the situation (Stokes and 2016). For the purpose of deciding the leadership task
to be performed, leader analyses the situation completely along with the skills of thee workforce
of organisation, and performs the task accordingly.
Although, in trait model, leader analyses own traits along with the strengths and
weaknesses and apply the skills as per the situation, but in this model, the leadership style can
not be improved. Improvement of leadership style is important for the purpose of enhancement
of efficiency of leadership.

On the other hand, in contingency model, leader performs as per the situation of the
organisation (Zoller and Preston, 2015). Leader does not use any rigid policy or rule, which
makes the leadership style more flexible and enhances then chances of improvement as well.
From the analysis of above theory, it can be evaluated that for the purpose of leading an
international organisation, contingency model is the appropriate model, as this model enhances
the chance of enhancement of leadership style and the efficiency of whole organisation as well.
CONCLUSION
From the above analysis it can be concluded that use of an effective model of leadership
is most important task for the leader as to improve the efficiency of the workforce. In context of
international organisation, use of contingency model can be evaluated as the best model. This
model provides the advantage to leader have a flexible leadership style which results in
enhancement of efficiency of the workforce and the whole organisation as well.
