I want to gain knowledge about the way construction projects are plan ned as well as
implemented as I want to pursue my career in particular field. I also believe that knowledge
about the particular field will assist me in pursuing my career.

addition to this, I am planning to establish a construction business. I intend to learn about the
various phases involved in the construction project. I also want to develop the understanding

I got feedback from the tutor that I need to develop more detailed knowledge about
construction project. There are few loop holes in the proposal which I presented to my tutor.
My tutor has provided me with feedback that I need to include more detailed information
about location as well as costs. In addition to this, I failed in provided the justification for
the proposal.

Project Report Level 5 Project

1. Context/Background
I and My friend after completing their secondary school studies, has got an opportunity to
work in restaurant. While working in restaurant, both have planned to pursue further studies.
Ben has decided to continue his studies in hospitality management, and Moore has decided to
pursue short term course in construction. After completing their diploma and after getting
experience in respective field, both Ben and Moore has decided to establish their own food
business. Both of them has used their pocket money as a capital for establishing food van.
They had established their business at local industrial estate. The product or services which
organisation sell are hot sandwiches and burgers. Within few months, business turned out to
be successful. After completion of few years, they planed to sell their business. They have
decided to sell their food van business, as both of them have dreamed to have small guest
house. In simple words , they have dreamed to establish big restaurant and want to sell
premium quality of food items to customers. Both Ben has now planned to borrow money
from bank and family members in order to get capital for buying the guest house. With the
combine efforts of both Ben and Moore guest house has been successfully located outside
London that is Gray s. The guest house which has been successfully established consists of
six bedrooms. In addition to this, there is also reception area and small lounge which has
specially designed in order to provide guest with relaxation as well as comfort (Cloquet,
Stephen and Taylor, 2018. ). The different types of food items which are offered by
organisation are continental breakfast, seafood, etc. Monet guest house has been running
profitably, company had turnover of £350000 every year. Due to the increase in
responsibilities after marriage, there was less engagement of Ben in the business. When
meeting was conducted for identifying the reason for disengagement it has been found that
Ben wants to establish business in England and Wales only. In addition to this, It has also
been found that Ben wants to diversify the business and tends to establish holiday park with
the accommodation of ten self contained log cabins. Now both Ben and her wife has planned
to sell the Monet restaurant to Moore and They have planned to establish holiday park. Now
they are planing to buy land within the location of England and Wales. Ben is searching for
big land with enough space in order to establish holiday park.
The been has decided to keep the name of organisation is Monet holiday park.

Aim of business : Ben aims to establish holiday park business in to earn higher revenue and
profit.
Business objectives : Objective of establishing holiday park is to provide customers with
memorable experience. In addition to this, an organisation intends to provide high value
proposition to customers. Therefore, a firm has made huge capital investment on providing
the training to employees, so that professional as well as quality services could be delivered
to customers.
Vision of holiday park : Vision of Monet Holiday park is to be recognised as best holiday
park. Therefore, management in an enterprise is planning to concentrate on developing the
undertaking about the needs a swell as demands of customers. Newly establish business
venture is planning to make capital investment on research and development activities.
Key goals of business : The key goals of Monet holiday park is to increase the occupancy
rate. In addition to this, other business goal of holiday park is to enter into new market
through better search optimisation in order to increase the customer patronage.
The resources which will be required for establishing holiday business includes
capital, land, human resource, technology etc. Land will be taken on lease for minimum five
years . In addition to this, Ben is planning to establish garden beds as well as relaxation area
in holiday park. Considering the costs, A part-time ground keeper will be appointed who will
be responsible for maintaining the garden. In context of technology, a special Wi-Fi devices
will be required in order to provide customers with internet facilities (Chriqui, Thrun and
Sanghera, 2018).
In context of capital, bank loan will be taken by Ben. In addition to this, Ben is planning to
invest his own saving in business.
Ben has planned to develop the company website, as it will help them in providing an
appropriate as well as quick response to queries of customers. In addition to this, by
developing the website, it would be easy to promote business. In context of Human resource,
Ben is planning to appoint those people who have previous experience in service industries.
Management in Monet holiday park will seek support from the placement agencies in order
to hire qualified, experienced and talented staff. Standards which are to be followed during
the time of recruitment to employees will be communicated in advance to recruitment
agency. The contract will be done by suppliers in order to provide raw material (Webb,

García and Joyce, 2019). Management in Monet holiday park will be very much conscious
before selecting the suppliers, as it can have negative effect on customer service.

Environmental analysis : Pestle is considered to be as an effective technique which can be
applied by management in Monet holiday park for analysing the effect of changes in
external environmental factors on business. The changes which can effect the holiday park

preference can have effect on operational plan of an organisation. In near future, customer
might have unique demand for entertainment facilities at holiday park (Simon and

force an enterprise to reduce the prices of goods or services. But in case of the Monet

Marketing strategy : Word of mouth is the strategy which Monet, is planning to adopt for
promoting the business. It is the marketing strategy which will assist an organisation in
gaining the customer loyalty. An enterprise is planning to make huge capital investment on
research and development activity, as this tactic will help them in analysing the needs as well
as demands of customers. In addition to this, an enterprise is planning to participate in trade
shows, as this strategy will provide enterprise an ease in communicating with target customer
group. Brochure will be distributed among target customer group with the support of
information centres. Business entity is planning to use accreditation logo in their promotional
material, as it will assist an organisation in gaining the competitive advantage. Demographic

Expected Project turnover and Profit : Both Ben and Penny is expecting the sales of 5
percent of sales in first two months of establishment of holiday park. The turnover they are

3. Project Phases
The different phases in the project life cycle which Ben will be required to be
undergone in order to successfully establish the holiday park are :
Planning and design phase : At this, stage, Ben has executed research in order to analyse
the need of space required for establishing the holiday park. In addition to this, on the basis
of Ben has estimated the costs associated with buying land for establishment of holiday park.
Ben has discussion on same topic with other stakeholders as well. After the approval, the
project will be designed. Considering the nature of complexity engineers has hired the
consultant for assistance. Planning activity is considered to be as an effective as it helps
project manager in identifying the different types of risks associated with the execution of the
specific project. It will also help manager in identifying those factor which can influence
project plan. This is the phase which also includes the formation of the team in order to
execute specific project in systematic manner. According to the Tuck man model there are
five stages of team development these are:
Forming: At this stage of team development, employees or team members are highly
depended on their leaders for guidance as well as direction. Individual roles and
responsibilities are unclear. It is a phase where project manager is required to be prepared for
answering the questions about the objective of project, procedures etc.

Storming: It is a stage in team development where each team member has focus on
establishing their position. At this phase, leaders are requires to sure that team members have
concentration of work. It is the stage, where the conflicts might arise between the team
members. Teams members can get easily distracted by relationships and emotional issues.
Team leaders t this phase need to defines the roles and responsibility of an individual. They
need to support people in establishing good position within a team.
Norming: At this phase, group decisions are made through mutual consent. Commitment and
unity is strong. It is the stage where leaders are required to delegate some responsibilities to
their subordinates, as it will help their followers ion feeling themselves as valuable.
Performing :he team is more strategically aware; the team knows clearly why it is doing what
it is doing. The team has a shared vision. At this phase, disagreement between team members
might occur but it can be easily resolved by making the changes in procedures as well as
structure. At this stage , it is required by leader to support team member in their personal as
well as professional development. Leaders needs to provide the continuous feedback to their
followers as it will help their subordinates in improving their performance.

penny has selected to establish holiday park near beach, as many of the people come on such
sites for spending their holidays. In addition to this, the other reason for selecting the specific

location is to provide customers an ease in accessing the products or services offered by
organisation. By establishing the holiday part in main centre of England and Wales, an
organisation will get an ease in attracting more number of people to buy goods or services
offered by firm. The area which has been selected provides the extensive view of mountains
which will provide the memorable experience to customers (Olaitan, Alfnes and
Strandhagen, 2019). Ben has planned to provide the range of the cabins. Customer will
provide with suggestions related to cabin according to their budget. The cabins in the holiday
park will consist of camp kitchen and also are for barrique which has log fire space and big
seating area. It will a idea space for cooking food. Their will be bushes around and whilst
exploring pristine creeks and waterfalls. The facilities which will be provided to customers in

barriers which might create barriers in implementation of the project.
Construction document phase : At this project phase, the drawing as well as specification
will be created by engineers for enabling the project to be constructed. Specification will be
created in order to provide manufacturer about the quality of material to be utilised for the
purpose of construction. It is the stage where codes are reviewed (LAREDO and PLANT,
2019).
Bidding phase: It is the stage where the project is sent for the bidding procedure. At this
phase of the project, evaluation of the contractors are done and an individual with the lowest

The skills which has been developed to resolve work based problems includes

utilising the systematic as well as logical approach. Identifying the unique approach for
resolving complex problems has been possible because of creative thinking.
Researching skills : It is considered to be as very much important skills which supports an
individual in finding an appropriate solution to the problem.
Team working emotional : It is considered be as an ability of an individual to control their
own emotions during specific situation.
Risk management skills : It is very much necessary for an individual to pisses such skills in
order to resolved work based problem. This skill is mainly related to an ability of an
individual to take risk (Hadjikhani, Leite and Pahlberg, 2019).

5. Your actions taken/not taken
It has been analysed from the given case scenario that, Ben and Penny has decided to
purchase land for constructing holiday park. The reason for purchasing the land on lease is
that they will get benefit of appreciation in the value of land. In addition to this, specific
decision has been taken by Ben considering that they can retain control on the property for
long term. In addition to this, buying a land is more economical as compared to taking on
lease. Bern has taken decision related to buying land for constructing holiday park in order to
gain tax advantage (Meißner and Winter, 2019).
6. Project Learning

I have learned about the way of planning as well as implementation of project. I came to
know about the different types of risks which might occur in planning as well as
implementation of Project. I gained the knowledge about the skills which are required to be
developed in order to resolve the work based problems. By studying the module, I have
developed the understanding about the key phases in project of construction of holiday park.
I came to know about the way project is implemented. I have developed the understanding
about the way different stakeholders can influence the project planning as well as
implementation procedure. In addition to this, I came to know about the way post-
implementation review can maximize the benefits of Projects. I have learned that proper
planning is very much important in order to complete specific project in successful manner.
An effective planning is essential, in order to avoid risk of failure. I came to know about the
benefits of buying own land for commercial purpose. I also have identified the key
considerations which are to be made before finalising the specific project , as lack of proper
determination can lead to high costs.
