Objective
• To formulate a teaching plan for addressing the physical,
psychological, social, cultural, developmental, and spiritual
goals of the patient

Physical assessment
• Some of the major risk factors that contribute to
the condition commonly include being
overweight, family history, absence of regular
exercise, sedentary lifestyle, and race/ethnicity
(Powers et al., 2017)
• With an increase in blood glucose levels,
symptoms similar to increase in urination,
increase in thirst, abdominal pain, and weight
loss might occur.

Physical assessment
• The metabolic syndrome can be effectively controlled or
prevented by an improvement in nutrition, reducing body
weight, and participating in moderate physical activities
• Administration of oral medication like metformin and in
severe conditions, insulin injection also form an essential part
of diabetes management (Chrvala, Sherr & Lipman, 2016)
• Regular check of blood sugar, and appropriate foot care is
necessary.
