4TEAM BUILDING AND LEADERSHIP
A team is formed with skilled employees to carry out a particular task that other
employees cannot execute (Schjoedt et al. 2013). The role of the team member is to carry out the
tasks successfully which is allocated to them, keeping the team manager informed about the
progress or any issue that arises during the project work. Working in team helps in sharing a
wide knowledge among the team members. Team work is highly required in doing some
important projects. This paper deals with Westin hotel. The hotel management wants to upgrade
their hotel and turn it into 5 star rated hotel. This needs full participation of the team. The hotel
wants to expand its size and include 150 rooms and leisure and fitness facility. this will give
them a competitive advantage over their competitor.
Main responsibilities to complete the tasks
The responsibilities that the team needs to take for successful execution of the tasks are:
Understanding the objective of the tasks: A team becomes successful when the team
members are well informed about the objective of the tasks. Understanding the core
objective of the tasks is the first step to execute the tasks. If the objective is clear then it
helps in effective decision-making (Groeger 2013).
Meeting deadlines: Working according to the timescales helps in avoiding delay of
work. Failure in meeting deadlines also damages the brand image of the company, which
subsequently decreases the customer base of the company (Bocchi, Lange & Yoshida
2015).
