INTRODUTION
Team development plays an essential role in project management as it includes
leadership, negotiation, and many other skills and information. The current file includes different
situations and their appropriate responses.
Situation 1:
Answer C.- to explain the project and ask them for their input. Try to get them to identify
alternatives and encourage group decision making.
I will explain the project properly to the team along with their input. Group decision making will
make my team to decide most appropriate solutions for competing for the project in a proper
manner.
Situation 2:
Answer C. – Talk to Tom privately about the long-term effects of his behavior.
I would like to talk to Tom for explaining him the impact of his behavior on the other team
members. As due to this, there are chances that other team members will not understand their
duty and take it lightly.
Situation 3:
Answer C- Become more actively involved and help the team solve the problems. Supervise the
planning until it is complete.
In the given situation, I will also supervise the planning for handling risks or errors effectively
until it is complete.
Situation 4:
Answer B. Call a special team meeting to discuss the morale problem and ask the team for
recommendations. Try to work out the problems.
I will call a team meeting for motivating employees and asking them about the appropriate
recommendations. Solving the problem by group discussion will lead to identifying a most
suitable solution.

Situation 5:
Answer A. Do nothing until you are absolutely sure that the assigned people cannot perform as
needed.
I will firstly collect all evidence for understanding the issue whether it is appropriate or not.
Current evidence will help in taking appropriate action for handling the situation. Without any
proof, it is impossible to discuss with the functional manager, develop contingency plans or do
other actions.
Situation 6:
Answer B. Have a personal discussion with Bob, seek out the cause, and ask him for a solution.
I will call Bob and discuss the issue with him. I will motivate and help him in improving the
work and skills. Personal discussion with Bob will also develop trust and confidence within Bob.
Discussing among team members can demotivate Bob and decrease his work performance more.
Situation 7:
Answer C. As the team to assist George in redoing the report since a bad report reflects on the
whole team.
I will assist George in redoing the report for developing skills and knowledge. Sympathizing
George is not a good solution for resolving the issue. As the report shows performance and work
abilities of the team so it is necessary to make changes and improvements.
Situation 8:
Answer C. Call a team meeting and seek ways to improve productivity for phase 2. Hopefully,
the team will come up with some alternatives
I will call a meeting for analyzing the most appropriate way to improve productivity for phase 2.
This will help in resolving the issue by alternatives. Moral enhancement is not a good option for
schedule slippage. It is necessary to identify an appropriate solution.
Situation 9:
Answer B. Try to provide sometime of monetary or non-monetary reward for your team

The monetary or non-monetary reward will increase the motivation level and confidence of the
team members. This will lead to enhancing the performance and working capabilities which will
help in finishing the project on the decided time period.
Situation 10:
Answer C. Call a team meeting and review the remaining schedules for the project. Look for
contingency plans.
I will keep an eye on the project and performance of the team members. Along with this,
discussing the remaining schedules will help the team on focusing their work.
Situation 11:
Answer C. Call an immediate team meeting and ask the team to prepare an agenda and identify
the items to be discussed.
It is better for me to call a meeting and preparing an agenda rather than assuming a passive role.
Assigning responsibilities to the team member can affect the work as the customer is visiting the
firm first time so it is better for me to identify the items and discuss with the team members.
Situation 12:
Answer B. Reemphasize the team spirit and encourage your people to proceed. Some degree of
guidance is necessary.
As customer has asked for changing design specifications, thus it is necessary to motivate and
encourage the team members. Doing nothing for handling the situation will never be a right
solution.
Situation 13:
Answer C. Call a team meeting to assess the risks and look for alternatives
As customer needs to assess the risks, so I will call a meeting for identifying the risks and
handling them appropriately. This will help in increasing satisfaction level of the client.
Situation 14:
Answer D. Do not burden the team with this request. You can do it yourself.

I will not burden the team with the request as they are working on the project. It is not good to
return the request to the functional manager.
Situation 15:
Answer A. Let Carol go. You do not want to stand in the way of her career advancement
I will let Carol go as she is getting the higher opportunity. Later, I will discuss the issue with
team members and motivate them to handle the workload with cooperation.
Situation 16:
Answer C. Call a team meeting to discuss alternative ways of obtaining the information
I will discuss with team members as it is not good for asking the team to use their behavior skills
in obtaining information.
Situation 17:
Answer C. Call a meeting and ask each member to explain his or her role on the project to the
new person
I will introduce a new person to each team member and make him feel comfortable. Explaining
roles of every member will provide all information about the project.
Situation 18:
Answer B. Review the request with the team members and discuss the impact on his
performance.
I will like to discuss the situation with the team member individually. I will select most
appropriate solution after proper communication and which will be most suitable for the
situation.
Situation 19:
Answer B. Interview the employees that created this problem and stress the importance of
following directions carefully.
I will interview the employees for explaining them their mistake and guiding them to not do the
same again in future.

Situation 20:
Answer C. Ask your team to meet and provide them with an outline for the final report.
I will not reflect my ability as a manager within the report. As it is team work so, the team will
represent their work and contribution in finishing the project effectively and efficiently.

Thus, it is concluded that most appropriate solutions are selected for the given situation.
