 One of the main reasons teams
are formed is to achieve various
organisational goals through a
culmination of resources. Each
team member will have
something to bring to the table
that will contribute to the project
as a whole.

Types of teams in an organisation
1. Department teams: Departmental teams have been around for
quite some time
2. Problem-solving teams: These types of teams are usually temporary
and focus on solving a specific issue.
3. Virtual teams: A virtual team can be any type of team that
communicates digitally rather than in person.
4. Cross-functional teams: In most business settings, permanent team
members are going to collaborate with other departments to
tackle certain events for the company
5. Self-managed teams: These types of teams are the most
empowered, as they have to power to make decisions

1. You’re on your own, there’s no one else to pick up the slack.
2. You’ll have to be your own cheerleader and self-motivate.
3. Can become overwhelmed with the amount of work at hand.
4. You are the sole responsible for the job. If you fail, it is your fault. There aren’t any
others to blame it for.
5. You can get bored working all by yourself. There isn’t anyone to talk to, share ideas
with or get help from.
6. When you are working alone, if you get sick or need to take days off, the work will
be delayed because there won’t be anyone to continue it for you.
