The Importance of Teamwork in a Real-Life Case Study_1

1TEAMWORK
The particular essay is focused on the examination of teamwork and its importance in
the tackling of several situations which cannot be handled by an individual. In this
connection, the particular paper is concentrated on examining the case study of a real-life
trauma that was caused to a soccer team including 12 boys and one of their coach, who was
trapped in the dreadful Tham Luang Cave. It was examined that the boys and their coach
went to explore Thailand's Chiang Rai province and in turn, got trapped (Crump 2018).
As analysed in the case study of the Thai Cave Rescue, it was examined that
teamwork is of crucial importance where a group of people are involved into any situation or
circumstances (Ghaferi and Dimick 2016). This statement can be proved by stating that the
case study critically highlighted how a group individual working together as a capable team
were successful in saving the boys out of the cave. The cave in which the group was trapped
in was dreadfully flooded, and in the initial of the scenario, no hope to save them were seen.
However, with the help of dozens of divers and several numbers of volunteers the boys and
the coach were rescued from the danger. This shows how a group of people working together
as a team can make wonders happen. Studies show that tracking the stuck people was getting
difficult because of the rise in the water levels as well as the strong currents, and there was no
connection with the victims for over a week. Thus, the rescue operation was expanded into an
extensive process amidst the interest of the public all across the globe. Supposedly, with the
efforts of the British divers, the boys and the coach were found alive on the edge of a high
rock. In this connection, many people joined hands together to save the kids and the coach
and make the impossible to be effectively possible. Studies show that the rescue operation
included a team of more than 10,000 people which included 100 divers, several rescue
workers, representatives from over 100 governmental agencies, 2,000 soldiers, 900 police
officers, seven ambulances, police helicopters, over 700 diving cylinders and people pumping
out more than a billion litres of water out of the dreadful cave. Thus, the precise pieces of

evidence mentioned in the study underline the importance of teamwork and how the
effective and efficient work of a team can make any wonders happen (Sarwar, Harris and
South 2017).
As examined by the case study that people from all across the globe had joined hands
to save the victims trapped in the cave. The success of the same was set as an example of
international teamwork and collaboration that had joined forces to rescue the group. In this
connection, the paper focuses on undermining the factors that led to the effectiveness of
international teamwork. Firstly, the desires and the hope that the team working for the
rescue of the soccer group had in their thought process. They carried the force of their will
and mindset along with the prayers of the world that they would make this rescue mission a
successful one. Secondly, the effectiveness and efficiency in the planning system and
decision making process of the team working together helped them to detail the needs of the
rescue operation and act accordingly to the planned goals and objectives to save the trapped
group. Thirdly, the specialists involved in the rescue operation led to the effectiveness of the
same. The different departments and crew people segregated for their specialised work
helped in the fulfilment of the determined task at the required point of time and helped to
achieve the success of the operation. Fourthly, the level of patience and perseverance that the
people rescuing the group had as well the group which was trapped had kept in their thought
helped in the achievement result of the same. The amalgamation of both the group finally led
to the success of the rescue operation and eradicated panic from their minds which were
essential for the group trapped inside the dreadful cave. Last but not the least, the concerned
case proved that in severe consequences like this, the team has to work with no expectation
towards earning some benefits but just to do good to the needy, only then is it possible to
achieve the severe consequences of a terrible condition. Sometimes a team has to work
without a self-purpose to get the desired effective result.
