CE 3.2 Background of the Project
CE 3.2.1 Basic Characteristics of the Project
Construction of a building can be referred to as the major procedure to construct an
infrastructure or building. This particular procedure is different from the manufacturing
process is that it majorly includes mass production of the similar items without any type of
designated purchaser and is takes place for a known customer. For making the construction of
the building successful, it is required to ensure that estimation and calculation becomes much
easier. In this project, I have understood proper execution and estimation of a G+8 residential
building at Vasavi’s Brindhavanam. This particular construction was made by Shree Mukh
Builders Pvt Ltd in Moti Nagar, Hyderabad. I have properly discussed about different
specifications of the residential building and have done significant calculations of the flat
areas of every individual flat of several blocks as well as the percentage of the common areas
for each and every flat. I also had to checked about the reinforcement details as well as

shuttering arrangements with the specific reference to the drawings for slabs and columns.
Moreover, I even observed the significant procedure of concreting different columns and
slabs. Therefore, with this particular project work, I had understood the overall execution and
proper estimation of the G+8 residential buildings at Vasavi’s Brindhavanam in Hyderabad.

Understanding the Various Techniques used
Construction and Execution of Multi Storied Residential Project was being completed by me
with the proper understanding of various facets as well as structures related to various blocks
and slabs. I had to consider about the various specifications in the most effective manner, so
that there exists no chance of error or faults under any circumstance. The most significant and
vital objectives in this project work are:
 To understand the subsequent execution as well as estimation of G+8 residential
buildings at Vasavi’s Brindhavanam by Shree Mukh Builders Pvt Ltd in Moti Nagar,
Hyderabad.
 To discuss about the various techniques, which are being used in the proper execution
and construction of the residential buildings.
 To prepare several types of project estimations and then apply the theoretical
knowledge, which is being learned during the course within the practical field
experience within the specific site.
 To provide proper assistance to the experienced engineers and site engineers for
attaining useful practical knowledge from the organization.
 To practice the execution of various stages in the construction of building from the
foundation level and then observe the execution of various stages of the building.

 To understand the process of identification of the issues as well as approach to the
solution, which takes place in the respective site, so that the desired plan is applied
successfully.
CE 3.2.3 My working areas in this work
As I was the most successful civil engineer from a popular university, it was
extremely easy for me to make this project work of understanding the equipment and
processes of a residential building an efficient one. I had to ensure that I have clear
understanding about the specifications and features of the building without much complexity
and I am able to resolve any type of issue or complexity effectively and efficiently. Since, I
have previously worked with calculations and estimations of reinforcement and excavation, it
was not at all difficult for me to produce accurate results. Moreover, being a civil engineer, I
even have done several types of tests for checking the strength and durability of concrete,
which was yet another vital and significant requirement for understanding the estimation of
the G+8 residential buildings.

CE 3.2.5 My main responsibilities as well as duties throughout the work
My designation in the specified work called Understanding the Various Techniques
used Construction and Execution of Multi Storied Residential Project was the main developer
of this project, who had the major duty to execute this complete project work entirely by
himself. I had previously executed several projects related to structural engineering, however,
few techniques were completely new for me. After proper researching about several
techniques, I was able to understand the different techniques and tools for the project work in
the most effective. I had to understand the different specifications of various residential
buildings, subsequent calculations of the flat areas of every flat of the several blocks as well
as the percentage of the common area for these flats. Moreover, I even checked about the
plastering and brick works, which were being carried out within the site for considering the
check list, which was to be verified on site and then complete the marking of the brick works.
My other vital responsibilities included observing earthwork excavation and foundation
laying like ppc bed.
CE 3.3 Distinct Activities in Work
CE 3.3.1 Comprehending the most Basic Theories Used within this Project
Theoretical understanding for different testing methods and corrosion mechanism was
used by me. For achieving the distinct objectives of the work, I have used theories of RCC
and concrete materials. I had to properly complete the curing of the brickwork, RCC work
and plastering, which must be done according to the standards. The curing of these newly
formed structured was considered by me for a number of days. I have considered 14 days for
reinforced cement concrete structure and 7 days for the brick works. Moreover, the builder of
the residential building has used several drawings such as structural and architectural

drawings for proper execution of the work and then checked for the reinforcement details to
observe the procedure of slab and column concreting. Moreover, I even prepared the
estimates that are associated to reinforcement quantity, steel quantity and shuttering for any
particular block. As construction provides several advantages to the respective project work, I
ensured that my research work is accurate. For this purpose, I understood the site plan for the
Vasavi’s Brindhavanam.

The project features included G+8 floors and 7 towers. There were total of 414 luxury
apartments and the 2 BHK and 3 BHK flat areas ranged from 1200 sqft to 2250 sqft.

CE 3.3.2 Major Engineering skills or knowledge applied in the work
I had to use my knowledge related to structural engineering and analyses for ensuring
that I am gaining accurate knowledge related to the residential building’s specification.
Moreover, I have also used my knowledge of RCC and concreting of columns and slabs.
CE 3.3.3 Execution of the work and Tasks Accomplished
I have considered diverse specifications of the material, utilized in the project for
understanding the requirements properly

Regarding the foundation, I understood that they have used shallow foundations or
spread footings for completing the project work. The depth of the foundation used was 7m,
however it was not constant in the entire building and in few cases, they have done
excavation until they reach hard stratum. For the columns, they have considered different
criteria, which are:

3.3.4.1 Issue faced in this work

I faced issue while understanding the plan of flat number 1 in tower 6. There were
several flats in this particular tower, however the plan of flat number 1 was quite complicated
and I was unable to get an understanding of the work easily.
3.3.4.2 Solution to the identified Technical Difficulty
I decided to visit the site once again for understanding the problem. After revisiting
the site of Vasavi’s Brindhavanam, I was able to understand the entire plan in the second
time. I even spoke with the site engineers of the residential complex and they were extremely
helpful in this aspect.

CE 3.3.5 Plan made to give innovative as well as creative works
The chief approach for this particular work was to properly research about the
different specifications and techniques of the residential building. I also had to divide this

project work, in such a method that better efficiency is gained under every possible
circumstance.

I visited the site of Vasavi’s Brindhavanm in Hyderabad for being sure that this entire
project work is correct and I am able to understand the various specifications and features of
the residential building and get knowledge without any issue or complexity.
CE 3.4 Overall Reviewing of this Project
CE 3.4.1 Overviewing of this work
I have understood about the execution as well as estimations of G+8 residential
buildings at Vasavi’s Brindhavanam, Hyderabad, India. Different specifications for this
project and curing of the brick work, reinforced cement concrete and plastering details were
also taken into consideration eventually for the work. Moreover, I also have checked several
drawings that are being used in the project execution with consideration of the procedure of
concreting the columns and slabs.
CE 3.4.2 My Major Contributions
I had to make an estimation of the shuttering, reinforcement and steel quantities that
were needed for any particular block with distinct effectiveness. Proper understanding of the
work was also done effectively and reinforcement placing was done according to the
specifications.
